Humanity has once found itself at a crossroads. Progress or stagnation? With each comes benefits. Alchemy can cure many ails. It can quench fires, make barren land fertile, give sight to the blind. Yet, too, can it be destructive. Foul abominations, enslaved to their master’s will. Poisons that may fell kings, tear holes in our walls and leave naught of our cities but dust and ash. Which path shall man take? Rot and mundanity, or horror and flame? 

 

We choose neither. As of this day, by order of the Court Alchemist of Idunia, Sir Jeffrey de Wees, the organization to be known as V.I.T.R.I.O.L is founded.

 

The Institute of V.I.T.R.I.O.L shall act as the cornerstone of Idunia’s scientific jurisdiction, holding absolute reign upon alchemical law and its practices. To be composed of like-minded alchemists and 

philosophers, its members will be sworn to an oath of secrecy, and duty to uphold its dogma. Through this, V.I.T.R.I.O.L maintains a balance between advancement and oversight, ensuring that alchemical practice within Idunia remains controlled and aligned with the nation’s broader interests.

 

In addition to its administrative role, the Institute will oversee a trained operational division tasked with enforcing alchemical regulation throughout the realm. These field agents shall serve as inspectors, researchers, and—when required—defenders of the state’s scientific integrity. Their presence will reinforce V.I.T.R.I.O.L’s authority beyond its halls, extending its reach into laboratories, settlements, and frontier posts alike.

 

 

 

 

V.I.T.R.I.O.L.  (Visita Interiora Terrae Rectificando Invenies Occultum Lapidem), will follow the principles of absolute alchemy. We hold that the plane “Mundus”, upon its formation, was separated into the three natural concepts of Necrotic, Deific and Voidal, who rule and balance one another through the process of natural selection. Unconfined by either, the alchemists of V.I.T.R.I.O.L shall seek to attain purity of both soul and body by operating within crossroads of the Material Alphabet, or, the very centre.

 

It is widely known that the existence of Mundus is a testament to the eternal war against the Void. That all things decay into their simplest forms before surrendering to an infinite nothingness. Mountains that were once sharpened into peaks, get weathered down by wind. The perpetual lapping of waves against the shore carves the earth down into fine grains. Fire burns at the center, patiently waiting for a fault so that it can strangle the land with hot magma and melt all things into one. And yet, life tends toward the opposite. It seeks to create, refine, and build upon itself until it has reached a stable state where it cannot be touched by entropy. Thus, life is the mechanism of absolute alchemy, which is the dogma of V.I.T.R.I.O.L.
