I THOUGHT HE DIED YOU SCARED ME CHRIS

Aera looked up from the toddlers that ran about the Qalasheen estate, she could see the dismay on his face. There were no exchange of words, though the exchange of a single glance was enough for a pit to find its place in her stomach.  She found her way to her dear husband Amin, and pray that perhaps he had answers as to what comes next.

Redgar Kildrakken learned the news, a paper brought to him inside the basement where he hid. A week had passed since the former Imperial Dragon knight had sent his own resignation letter to the Grand Knight.

"I'm proud of ye, Khaleed. Ye became a great man, and t'is a further proof of it." He sighed then "Good luck to us, and t'ose who'll leave in the near future. We'll need it."

"Resignation does not exist for those in the Order until I permit it. Break your oath, and you shall die. I will kill you and your family," The Emperor spoke calmly, sitting upon his throne. His lips cusped around the tea-cup, taking a gentle sip. "I am hopeful that Zubayr and his family do not stray down the same path."

"They cull themselves. Weakness and their true nature reveals that they have flawed hearts. They are not Imperial. They are mutts that will swing from ropes. Only in death does duty end." The Grand Knight Sir Arn Honeywine would read the missive after finding not just Khaleed, but Redgar had abandoned their posts. Did they truly believe that desertion would allow them to live comfortable lives? Perhaps not. Either way, like his ancestors of old, he'd flay a badwai on a cross soon. As for Redgar, perhaps the rest of his face will be burnt to a crisp. Maybe his whole body. For now, a letter was penned, as snow fell onto the city of Rittersberg.

An Inquisitor heard of the resignation. He felt his stomach drop for some reason, then went on about his duties.

Amin lay pale in bed sweat dripping from his brow as he smiles weakly to his beloved wife “By Allah, I have trust in Allah to resolve all affairs and to guide our ummah towards righteousness…” he says cough harshly before slipping back into a semi sick sleep coma (love yall, man this all happening while I’m on a trip… yall crazy XD)

Set on one of the Empire’s many beaches, Larkin looks up at the falling snow. So far, two of his closest friends have left the Empire and are now traitors. He closes his eyes and remembers the good times in the Guard, when they were all still young and full of piss. He wonders what his ancestor would tell him right now. What Saint Gaspard would think of this, he does not know.

Imani, blissfully unaware of the calamity hanging heavy in the air, waved excitedly from her mother’s arms. Her small hand swayed with joy as she looked up at her father, who sat astride his horse as he had countless times before.  She flashed him a wide, toothy grin. Then she turned, noticing at last the wetness on her mother’s cheeks.  Imani frowned, confused, and lifted her small palm to cup her mother’s cheek.

“Baba… come back?” she asked softly, more statement than question, as if reassuring them both. .
