Imperial Leaders on the OOC side

People who say the empire will just civil war after it gets what it wants underestimates the server’s ability to hugbox for 2+ years under a single hegemon.

I would like to point out that his way of responding to the child’s belligerent behavior was by not really giving him a response? His lack of maturity was maturity, he did not engage in bullshit. Excuse my language. He also did not drag this out or post a forum post about the behavior exhibited by this player, he was ignoring the situation rather than feeding it.

I can understand that the kid is a kid, I did dumb shit at his age, but he isn’t being mature by attempting to blast the forums. Werewolf is under no obligation to coddle a 16 year old just because he’s in his 20s or 30s. He’s not obligated to sit him down  and discuss the errors of his ways. Not saying there are any.

The kid didn’t start it in a proper way and when it went wrong, he came to the forums to pitch a fit. This entire thread is a case of, @could’ve been kept to mod chat.”  And of letting bygones be bygones. Now as Werewolf is not a friend of mine, my defense of the internet stranger ends here.

Okay sorry but, trolling is not a mature response, and his responses can in no way be interpreted as maturely disengaging from the situation.

The man is a known megatroll.

The mature way to disengage would be done like just straight up ignoring the kid, or telling him something like "I am not going to have this discussion with you" or "you're entitled to your opinion" or something.

You cannot be somehow spinning it as "his lack of maturity shows maturity"

EDIT: AND OH GOD I'M DOING IT AGAIN I'M ARGUING WITH STRANGERS ON THE INTERNET NOOOO

I am going to start off by saying that this will likely become heated because of my recent conversations in the mod discord general channel, but I ask that everyone please be respectful and not act like a child trying to win an OOC argument.
Now that's out of the way, let's talk about why the imperial leadership and high ranking people in the empire act like such children when interacting with the other side OOCly (and I'm not just saying this as my personal belief, i sent my friend screenshots of what they were saying and his reaction was "such goddamn toddler behavior" after the first 2) my personal belief is that they should not be rude and act childish OOCly ever, and even if they have any problem with someone else's criticism they should at least have the courtesy of not responding immediately with trolls and rage bait.
Now the screenshots I send will not have the full story, but i will be willing to answer any questions about my point of view and you can see the entire argument in the mod discord general channel (here is a link to it that should work, i do not intend on hiding anything I've said even if it makes my case better https://discord.gg/hthwUgznp3)
So this is mostly just me asking, why do you all think that their leadership act more like children than me, someone who is 16, on an OOC level that should not be allowed for anyone, let alone the leaders of the largest nation on LOTC at this time. And also what similar stories do you have regarding these people and their actions similar to mine?

Hey,

Why are we accusing Werewolf and his group of being OOC? As far as I'm aware the extent of his OOC interaction goes as far as war-planning. I'm gonna kind of butter him up here, but in-spite of the looming threat of Urguan being shattered, this has actually been one of the most pleasant Warclaims I've had with the Empire since the Three Day War in Arcas. Werewolf absolutely did not need to OOCly reach out and coordinate multiple raids on the Urguan capital, multiple skirms, and continue to engage with us in roleplay after the warclaim that just happened. And yet he still does. In-fact, I think this is probably the most I've ever seen an Emperor roleplay with us other than Tide1, usually they tend to just come into power and immediately war us with no dialogue while propaganda posting in their war discord, and we just engage back in the same manner.

Before I move down to other replies, I do wanna drop my thoughts on the matter of last warclaim. For the entire week I was under the impression that we were going to use cheap or broken kits and take the L on the field battle since the empire has more than triple our numbers. On Thursday (the 19th) an Iron Assembly was held and it was decided that we would be taking no kits at all and saving it for the siege battles since those are the only ones we can actually win due to the number disparity. When I joined the war discord VC at 2:30 P.M. everyone was laughing and were talking about putting on a caveman skin shared in chat, and changing our names to variations of Unga and Bunga. Someone had gotten a double-chest of snowballs, bamboo rafts and stone weapons and placed it in the Urguan square. I hopped on the bandwagon because I thought it was funny, we lost in less than two minutes, I made my warclaim video, and then carried on with my day and went to teach one of my FA students. I find it incredibly ironic that the outrage towards this kind of thing was nowhere in sight when many among the Imperial rally wore Bart and Lisa Simpson skins to the siege prior to last weekend's warclaim, or that these same players who rallied with us as the Church in Aevos had nothing to say when many of Balian's players during the last two defenses opted to wear power rangers skins and no armor. I don't think the issue is really a matter of troll skins or cheap tactics, more than it is just the waste of time. I absolutely agree that we should have forfeited the tile and expedited the warclaim directly into the next siege, at the same time I've also never seen that done in any of the war's I fought and had no idea it was an option, nor am I the one to make that decision. As a matter of fact, that idea is so unprecedented that it has only happened about one or two times in LOTC's history according to multiple oldheads who were in the chat when we were talking to Smol Bean about the disaster of a warclaim later that evening. That's where I do agree we absolutely dropped the ball, that and the absolute flurry of remarks about coping and ragebaiting that followed afterwards. While I'm apathetic to the Imperial's reaction to this, the biggest insult was mostly to the mods who took time out of their day to manage a warclaim that could have been skipped. (Although I am still curious how the war server was so broken after less than a week. God forbid people actually did bring kits to that. That's probably more of an administration or tech issue than it is mod responsibility).

Dwarves once again showing they are a primarily OOC ran nation…

I have been in those VCs multiple times over and I can say this with certainly is that Urguan’s community has a tendency to be very rude and caustic to other players, usually behind their backs, especially those of other communities. I am guilty of this myself until recently where I have been trying to cut back on that. Some people genuinely don’t joke about this and will whine in VC for hours over an issue which could be solved irp but they decide to scheme OOC. I know this isn’t purely exclusive to the Dwarven community but it is one of the ones I was most privy of.

Please don’t blatantly lie like that.

Enderking still has no idea what he did by the way. You got stopped at the gates of Cerulia, messaged Enderking saying "Do better." and accusing of him of OOC leading, and then left the discord. Nobody hears from you for weeks on end and when they do it's in the form of a forum reply generalizing the playerbase you left. As far as your accusation of OOC leading go, I've personally seen Ulfar conversing with Hekkaes Goldhand in his house or being pulled aside to discuss war plans multiple times a week. The decision to bring no kits mentioned above was made entirely in roleplay and we even conversed with vassals in the same assembly about what the plan was should Urguan face subjugation (whether to bend the knee or dissolve the realm). Epicethan, despite managing training, skirms, and the warclaim, has still found time to roleplay both casually and during trainings.

If your response to criticism is “I’m going to troll,” that’s your choice.

But as a nation leader, your OOC conduct sets the tone whether you like it or not. If you can’t separate personal frustration from how you represent your nation, that’s a problem.

Leadership means holding yourself to a higher standard (in this case just being the normal standard in the community guidelines), and not matching the lowest one. It sucks sometimes, but it is what it is.

Thanks for your words.

I think meme skins are funny BTW, we do them all the time. People saying otherwise are coping.

I just didn’t appreciate wasting 2-3 hours of my guys time, around 160+ players, in rallying early and having to wait for the set-up for a troll warclaim.

To be frank, if you guys forfeited and I was still required to wait a whole week, I wouldn’t have minded that instead of having to rally and waste my time slogging through the warclaim is all.

I’m struggling to find a balance or share of good faith with the dwarves. ChumChum is a friend and we normally communicate well.

The first siege and fort used was called illegal by administration, who stated they allowed it because they were informed that dwarves would surrender after one warclaim + they couldn’t bother arguing with Noobman. I conceded to this point and decided to just do the siege, and changed my war camp (we were barely given space for our siege weapons) without complaint. That was one of the bad-faith examples.

The second being the time waste, and then followed by dwarves going around saying copium. High elves too, but that playerbase is filled with miserable losers.

I just hope this doesn’t become a rolling pattern. I was already finding it slightly funny that some dwarves (like Noobman) would sit in Urguan VC and indoctrinate players that I bully autistic children (?) and made some obtuse accusations over minecraft.

I have respect for the dwarves on an OOC level. I know there was an attempt to surrender IRP and this fell through, mainly because the terms given to us were pretty ass, but I just hope this war can shine a bit more with some good faith. I’m willing to concede to a lot of things (honestly) if I am not spat at constantly. Wallahi!

I hope you continue to enjoy any roleplay that comes from this. It’s just the way of the server unfortunately — things come and go. If the Empire lost, I wouldn’t take it personally OOCly because that’s how the RP went. I understand some frustrations but there’s a thin veil for some people on this server where they can’t draw the line between ooc and RP. Wolfy-D is one of the examples — if people accuse me of destroying playerbase and making people quit LoTC over my RP, I’m going to respond with trolling… despite what some raging forty year old like FluffyHorror has to spiel.

I'm probably a bit underinformed here, so someone on my end can chime in if I'm wrong. The reason the fort was declared illegal was because the plan was to make the entire fort out of wall blocks. That's why it looked so odd, you would have been forced to fight through a pre-determined path of gates and ramparts to get to our core because laddering would have been impossible no matter how much you mulched the keep. This was something that was approved by Josh before the protest (egg on our face for taking only josh's word for it). With the benefit of hindsight, multiple fort designers have stepped up and let us know there was no world where that monstrosity would have been allowed to pass. The fort was converted to full blocks instead, thus removing the illegal part. The same still has to be done with our other forts because the others were built in the exact same way.

As far as your RP goes, I actually like it! The Mad King bent on conquering the world for the sake of legacy even as his empire is cracking under its own weight and size, is much more compelling than the powdered wig larp that became standard of empires past. Our reactions to you saying to kill your own kids that we captured were wild, Hadrian wasn't even hiding it even in his missive replies. It's a massive breath of fresh air to have someone evil or twisted for the sake of it and not "You don't understand! I'm actually the good guy! Sure I genocided the elves (based??) but they had it coming, trust me!" And again, the raids were also nice while administration was busy sitting on its hands over warclaims, it went a long way towards making the war feel more active and less drawn out. Somewhere out there my golem core is even being used as a paperweight by some gigachad imperial who killed me in one of the raids.

thought of this after i posted, so i’ll go again:

as someone who’s lead staff teams or been apart of just about all of them, i regret to inform you that all of that time, dedication, patience, and mental wherewithal actually had to be completely taken out of my little pockets. the amount of times i would be telling people that you can’t use a “sexy hatsume miku skin” just to have the ******* n word screamed at me by a stranger on teamspeak? or, i’d host an event and a group of people come strictly to trash it and **** with me and i have no upper staff willing to assist me. for the love of the game?

yes, i will fully believe that like “staff you” and “player you” can be different vibes, but know that when you have a bold colored tag of any variety it instills a sense of importance or hierarchy to the average player, especially the new ones. HOWEVER, i think anyone who’s done more than a summer on a team and really made it a part-time job will tell you that it can be a lot of work from you for little return.

so when you’re having players lash out at you knowing you’re an “employee” and might be expected to eat it, criticizing your work needlessly to bait a negative reaction, and so on. it gets bonks, and it’s the fact that staff members for LoTC are all VOLUNTEERS. /godmode isn’t worth it for me to get accosted by hordes of children and FULL GROWN, OLDER THAN ME, ADULTS over metagaming.

frfr - i don’t get the hype about this situation. wolfy-d felt one way, werewolf reacted another, but it wasn’t anything truly malicious or evil?

I don’t think this is a “staff vs player” issue. I fully agree that being staff is exhausting. It’s volunteer work, you get yelled at, baited, insulted, and expected to absorb it calmly. I don’t think anyone reasonable denies that. But that’s not really what this is about.

In this case, he wasn’t acting as staff. He was acting as a realm leader. And that’s a different kind of visibility. You don’t have staff authority in that moment, but you have influence, which I would argue means a whole lot more. When you lead a major realm/nation, people attach weight to what you say whether you want them to or not.

So I don’t think the expectation here is “be staff professional 24/7.” It’s just if you’re going to hold a leadership role, act like it OOC too.

No one’s saying it was evil. Just that trolling as a declared policy isn’t exactly leadership energy.

You can run an empire while also not treating OOC like a Call of Duty lobby...

Let me put this down as a TLDR for everyone here.

You are not required to play this server. 13 is the youngest you can play, but you can be way older. It doesn't matter if you are 19, 25, or whatever, what matters is if you are treating a player base like ass.

Werew0lf is an adult, but he genuinely is not that bad of a guy, even if European. He does troll, yes, he sometimes can't shut up, but so does a lot of people. I am not one to defend Werew0lf, has he has made mistakes a lot but one thing has to be clear to this player base.

THIS IS A MINECRAFT ROLEPLAY SERVER!

No one will remember your legacy years from now, the server might be dead and buried by the time the poster is in their 20s, and living life. The point I'm making is that even though Werew0lf is leading a IRP crusade, it will end and then another person a few years later will do it again. Werew0lf is not, and will not be the only person who will do this but this is entirely a ROLEPLAY thing.

Werew0lf isn't a bad guy for doing conflict, what he is bad for is his minor toxicity and the inconsistency staff have with detecting toxicity. Take my advice, stop taking this server as serious, as I was just like this before. I might have some history on this server but that doesn't mean anyone's opinion is invalid, as it is a MINECRAFT server.

I stepped back from the server quite a bit, after I got tangled up in the whole "us vs them", Empire vs XYZ mindset, so I don't really know what's fully going on, or the specifics behind it, but I just wanted to say that the toxicity I'm seeing in places makes me dissapointed. Please people if we could just take a step back and think through our actions and words more, and calm down, and to realise that it's just a multiplayer server on a block game. As a new player, if I saw this kind of stuff going on, I would've reconsidered my decision to join the server, since it raises questions on if this is normal for this community, or if it's just a one off thing.

Too long, didn’t read. Actual TLDR;

- Werew0lf

- Bad European

- Good troll

- Minor toxic

- Major roleplay

- MINECRAFT

- Happy 30th bday
