[Chitin Crafts] [Addition + Amendments] Molt

Recommended Posts

Add under Harvesting Chitin:

Over their lifespans, many such great insectoids are prone to shedding portions of their exoskeletons in a process called 'molting'. This is typically done to discard old, dead chitin in response to trauma, wear or simple outgrowth. This spongy, degraded chitin is called 'molt', or 'vyver' by the Maehr people whose Stilt Strider caravans have historically utilised it in a similar fashion to hide.

Add under Crafting With Chitin:

Molt in its raw form may be worked without treatment in the creation of fabrics, shelters and other such niches that might normally be filled by tanned leather. When processed in the same manner as ordinary chitin, molt can be pressed into a rigid shape appearing identical to chitin armour albeit far less heavy and durable.

Add Redline:

Crafts of Molt bear the strength and quality of Leather or Softwood. For all mechanical purposes it is simply aesthetic hide, with the protective traits of Light Armour when worn.

Update existing Crafting with Chitin:

From:

Pieces of chitin are held together by the extremely strong glue like saliva harvested from the Gua.

To:

Reasoning:
The Gua lore currently linked to the Chitin Crafts piece was never actually accepted.

Update existing Redline:

From:

Crafts of Chitin bear the strength and quality of Ferrum or Black Ferrum. For all mechanical purposes it is simply aesthetic Ferrum. This includes weight, and though instead of degrading with time to rust, chitin rots in place of the natural process of rust.

Reasoning:

Techlock standards clarification.

You can make things that aren't armor with chitin idk why changing aesthetic ferrum to aesthetic heavy armor is helpful, and does this imply you can't make medium armor with it anymore?

This was not my intention.

I have now updated the wording of my redlines to make this clearer, as well as to accommodate Medium Armour made from normal chitin. Thanks!

I assumed it wasn't the intention I just thought the redline pushed it into a direction where it would be interpreted that way. Thanks for clarifying that!

If molt is leather or softwood - Wouldn't it be light armor instead of medium or heavy?

edit: you fixed it…
