Some peeps arguing here have not read the post eh, I encourage you to look through it again :)

Lowering ologs strength to that of an uruk (with exception of rage) in exchange for the possibility of more character paths is a great deal. Olog roleplayers will be able to do way more than eat rocks and murder peeps.

Thanks to Pana for putting in the work and making the orcs more interesting, cant wait for the next rewrites 🌝

I've never understood why you need to be intelligent to use magic in the first place. Most of LotC's magics are powers granted to your character by a deity, where does intelligence fit into that? Are LotC's gods redditors? Do they make your character take an IQ test?

Yes.

The free-form conversion ritual is neat, and is totally in line with the original intent of ologs as a CA. That said, there is too much powercreep here, particularly of olog intelligence and capabilities. This is an uruk but better, having an actual 'rage' mechanic that is both strength and speed, with a potential [8] emote uptime for [1] emote cost. Considering the unfettered ability to learn non-aengudaemonic magics, it would allow something like an arcane scion olog which would be profoundly minmax, allowing them to attack + charge + soul lag along with Indomitable retaining uruk strength tier. Likewise, when you add in materials like volatite, which ologs should not be able to use at all frankly, the stack just becomes ridiculous even stripped of its properties because of the 2x weight. Throw that olog on cavalry and it is just a recipe for powergaming.

The original olog lore is pretty shoddily written, especially by today's standards. This ain't the solution. What needs to be reflected on more is the archetype of the CA, what is an olog meant to be. Their mutinous nature is something you have covered well already. An olog is an analog for an ogre, it is meant to be a big dumb brute, hardly above a beast of burden. If you want a character that has a more freeform niche, play an uruk.

Got a number of suggestions that would make this more palatable, but I think this still strays too far from the mark.

-Add to general redlines: "Ologs cannot wield volatite due to their instinctual fear of the metal."

-Add to general redlines: "Ologs cannot engage in CRP while mounted." It is against the archetype for a 10' 400 lbs brute to be a cavalryman, can say it is due to their innate lack of dexterity or agility. This also helps prevent them from minmaxing and stacking movement buffs.

-Add to general redlines: "Ologs cannot dodge." Again, olog size should be to their detriment, it would be rather hard to miss a 10' 400 lbs target. This presents a counter balance to the raw strength and speed they gain from Rage. They can still always block.

-Remove from general redlines: "Ologs cannot denature from their innate affiliation with Orcs due to their conceptions of strength birthed from Krug.  An Olog within non-orc society will always feel out of place, frustrated and depressed." This is cultural and player choice, it should not be enforced via redlines.

-Change general redline: "Ologs may only crossbreed with Uruks, and are incapable of hybridization, creating whole Uruks or Ologs only." Ologs should not crossbreed.

-Change general redline: "Ologs are incapable of romancing other creatures as they do not align with Krug’s visions of strength and honor." Ologs should not romance.

-Change general redline: "Ologs are an open CA with Uruk Strength unless utilizing Rage. They possess 5 magic slots and may learn compatible feats and magics described above." Ologs should not get the full compliment of magic slots, it is against the archetype of an "ogre." if anything, they should be limited in tiers and/or limited by slots. They should also not be getting combative feats, such as arcane scion. Crafting feats are fine.

The magics ologs can learn are limited, voidal isnt compatible with them, theyre also locked from magics they do have while raging. As for boomsteel I feel this redline would be applied to rage

Fel blood explicitly states that if an olog takes on a voidal magic or any strength weakening magic they lose all their buffs and are the same as normal orcs who take on the magic as well.

A lot of the other critiques seem more like personal opinion rather than any specific balancing points. There are many other CAs with olog strength, none of which are limited in the same way- Tawkin, Azdrazi, Pale knights, Zar'akal, Golems, etc. None are incapable of dodging or limited to the materials they can use save for golems and pale knights, both of which get magic, immortality, and further durability. I don't really understand the fears of ologs suddenly becoming peak magic stackers when anything they could do, an orc could do better.  There has never been a cabal of minmaxing ologs, nor would making them weaker with my write suddenly have people spring to the archetype. Orcs already have enhanced strength and are one of the smallest groups on the server.

If these beings are born from Krug, the most honorable/respected person within orc society and the undoing of Iblees in the creation lore,  his aspects should be integral to how they function/interact with the world.  Uruks are more free in that regard, yes, but as a CA these are important characteristics based in playing a more nuanced character.

Cavalry is an interesting point that no one's really brought up. Definitely something to consider, but save for Paleknights/Golems, an uruk /w azdrazi/tawkin/golem limb etc, would be more effective and can still use a horse. There are many orcish mounts specific to supporting ologs.

From your critique it seems you suggest this rewrite is excessive/unbalanced because orcs are a more freeform niche but also disagree with the main points that constrain an olog's character to help give them a nuanced path separate from uruks. There currently isn't really a reason to play ologs because of many of the suggestions you want to add, or are implemented in old olog lore despite their being no basis/rationale with it (see volatite).  Uruks already have more compatibility, access to olog strength through a host of means, and less weaknesses.

I do not think the ologs should be rewritten to be the same as Orcs in a way. This is more of an ORC rewrite than an Olog rewrite. Ologs are so simple to play, the only times people mess up playing them is when it comes to their strength but that’s it. Please don’t accept this, this will ruin Olog gaming

Why not just make a new CA?

Why get rid of Ologs? These are NOT Ologs
