Schools!

Hello denizens of Aegis!

Its is I, Deltaro here to tell you guys of a grand idea. If you can read the title then you obviously know of my idea. Why have we not put any schools in Aegis yet? I mean all of the races, except for humans, have an ancient tongue that we can come up with lore wise. I mean orcs have orc speak, elves have elf speak, dwarves have, well dwarf speak. And humans...... they might have some barbaric kind of tongue if they dont want to be left out.

I find it in Aegis its a bit hard to understand orc tongue. A way to solve this is to go to orc lands. But this is dangerous do to the orcs brute strength and killing twiggies, mole men, and pinkskins alike.

So why not we put some elven schools there and teach them our tongue? Or a dwarf school to teach them there tongue? I mean really it could come in handy.

Im sure we can figure out to make schools cost like 100 minas a class. But separated classes and buildings so the chat doesnt get jumbled up. Like for elves there is Elf greeting classes and formal elf speech. But im sure you guys can come up with the names of the separate classes.

But inserting schools, again i say, would help out tremendously with background and learning culture, since im a cultural kind of elf as well. It seems that schools can be implemented quite easily as well.

And who said it has to stop at speech? Why not culture as well? Like druid lore, warden military training, politic classes, and so on so forth. Also im giving elf examples since i am an elf. But really the school thing can go far distances.

Tell me you opinions of this so i may indulge upon them and suck on its nectar of knowledge. I think hating or loving school just got a whole lot better....... ;)

If the school is to teach language then I can see a good purpose for it. But if you want to implement schools to teach basic stuff then noone will come. However you'd be hard pressed to find a teacher for Ancient Elven. We're still working on it

I know. I mean it would most likely, if ever accounted for, in the Aegis 2.0. If it is, then probably by that time everyones language could be set in stone.

But i dont just mean languages. I mean like maybe teach them of the background of subraces, each races special military service, and maybe some other renowned guild created by that race they can learn of. Im just saying a school in Aegis can go for anything really. Its just our imagination of what we should do for them i mean. I just gave examples. Now we need to figure out if those examples could be brought in on a later date and maybe add more to it.

I still can't understand half the things Orcs tell me. Due to this, I constantly find myself being hacked to pieces.

Im not just implying languages as i said..... languages can be the base if you wish but i mean like backgrounds and all. Like a whole school for history! But anyone may interpret anyway they want. I just use language and orcs as an example since its easier ;)

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the Orcs ain't going to make any effort to learn Elf-speak, human-speak, or dwarf-speak. Instead, they'll most likely eat the teachers. Nom nom nom!

Haha but some wish to learn as well. So lets just make this an all around thing. Like with orcs they can gain some more culture and less of the languages then. I want this to depend on the leaders of those nations about there way of learning.

Sigh, not this again.

The Orcs of Aegis have an incredibly detailed culture and language, and get quite ticked off when humans stumble onto their lands and start calling them savages. The Orcs don't really want to "gain some more culture", they are perfectly fine with the current state of things.

The educational institute that I am currently putting into place is AIT, Aegis Institute of Technology. It is suppossed to be like a secondary education facility like universities and colleges. What I would expect school to teach is Language, Culture and History. It is from this assumed knowledge that more in-depth study is conducted and taught at AIT. HOWEVER, seen as all previous attempts to raise any form of school/academy have falled somewhere short, I think it would be best to combine any and all efforts to simply get things off the ground. Let's actually make it happen before branching off.

So yes, school seperate to AIT to teach characters about their own or other races: Good

Investing the effort to start this school into starting any educational institute: even better.

Love this idea, i have a book with a few elven sentences in it, but I never really get to use them. The school would be a great idea! Races can talk to themselves in their own tongue, while the other races have no clue wtf their saying. Would help keep private conversations, well, private, (at least around other races), it would give the game more diversity, and only the determined would be able to speak their language well, (100 minas a class, you're gonna pay for it, but it's worth it in the end when you can show off) :P Deltaro +1

I feel that this shouldn't be required, but someone should step up to it. I believe that someone at some point should have an application that states they have the ambition of becoming a teacher. One pebble would fall, causing the avalanche, and thus a school is born; bringing many rp joys and benefits.

So yeah: good concept, but debatable delivery.
