Ooc: To Clear Something Up

Earlier on the wiki today, I read this:

The origin of the Elves is unknown although they are the oldest race in existance. It is belived that they originated from the winged beasts that once roamed the lands that were known as dragons. It is said they were imortal and this is why the elves live as long as they do, it also explains the ears. The last dragons were belived to be slain by great human ancestors.

None of this is true. At all. Please, please, please do not post random stuff on the Wiki that blatantly isn't true, as I met someone who actually believed it in game today. If I find someone putting in absolutely false information, strict punishments will be given out.

Someone who posts or believes that didnt read the lore, so that person shouldnt have been accepted!

Who the hell would add that to the wiki? That's as preposterous as the "elves sailed from faraway lands" myth. Its quite distressing that players who aren't familiar with the lore are coming through. But that is nigh on impossible to properly assess in an application form.

Unless the application is revised to include a Lore questionaire, of course. As an example if Person X decides they want to be an Orc, they should answer questions such as:

Who is the forefather of the Orcs?

Why do Orcs have green skin?

Which blessing and curse was given to the Orcs?

What is the Orcs homeland?

Race specific applications may be useful. Directions on which topics are the most important to learn from would help a long way; like the 'Orc Important Threads', tailored to each race. Perhaps even sub-races, in time to come.

Why would someone change the wiki to something incorrect? These kind of things make me sad :(

I'm gonna beg the application team again to quit accepted out of lore people just because you're supposed to be "going easy on them".

I saw an orc applying with "-name- was just an average orc, he killed humans, elves, and dragons"

DENY

I +1ed this. I am on the app team and I personally believe this would be a marvolous addition to the app format.

Posting on the wiki at all without talking to petyr is bannable and should be made like that

I changed the Elves wiki with quite a few things without asking. I thought that's what he wanted. Mind you, my contributions were valid.

Why is it that EVERYONE wants to make up their own lore? I mean, it's one thing to do it well, but if you're just pushing some other thing into lore that isn't compatible, it just looks idiotic. Perfect example is this "descended from dragons" BS.

[Very sorry if I sound ragey, this things kinda pissed me off]

On the subject of wiki vandalism, I just reverted the Black Hand guild post. There are a LOT of spambots on there reverting pages linked to the main.

If you want it solved, I suggest a guide on wiki reverting to arm yourself with a few wikimods.

The current BH page is from Nov 29. May still be outdated.
