The Fall Of The North

* You notice a scroll and a tattered, burnt piece of parchment nailed to a notice board. *

Sons and Daughters of Horen, the day we had dread has fallen upon us, Oren is all but overcome by the undead taint, our capital reeks of death, miasma polluting the lungs of those foolish enough to approach it. The Northern plains, once a beautiful place of crisp white snow is now stained by the blood of those who gave their lives to defend the borders of Oren, of Aegis from the undead horde. Many of different racial background and beliefs sought to attack Oren, believing that they were not fit to defend the North. They meant to do good but in the end, the losses sustained by these assaults weakened the Oren military to such an extent that the undead seized the opportunity that they had been waiting for.

They bypassed the outlying towns, their hammer falling on the capital. The defenses were overrun, the city was decimated, King Enor kidnapped and many lay dead. Portals to the nether rose within Alk'hazar and a poisonous miasma started to seep forth, whithering all life around the city. In the aftermath many fled to the remaining settlements under Orens dominion, Winterfell, Galahar and New Alstion receiving many refugees. Those who had given up hope in Oren fled to Alras, it's huge walls of stone bringing comfort to those who had narrowly escaped death.

There was little time to rest and regroup, the undead saw the weakness in Oren, how it's defenses lay scattered, weak and ill manned. Within days New Alstion, Crimson Vale and Celestine lay in ruins, undead creatures residing within the streets of these once fair towns. Winterfell was next, it's fortifications not suited to fending off an undead assault soon fell. Homes destroyed, ground tainted and many either dead missing or worse. Large undead monuments where erected on the gates and on the keep to show their domination of the north and rightly so, for it was the one town which has stood firm since the undead first plagued Aegis. With it's falling, the North had truly fallen.

Argh, Dwarves would 'ave never let Kal Urguan fall! We may be short but stout-hearted and have a stoicism when it comes to our race as a whole.

Undead, come and get us laddies!

*sheds a tear upon reading this

Oh, the beautiful north may you one day rise again and help us smite the undead curse.

*shouts a curse outloud against the undead.

"Again and again, the humans have displayed that their passion and honor surpasses their intelligence. They will not last long as the only line of defence against the ragged hordes- this much is true. We should best prepare.

Our hearts go out to our brothers in the North, both those who fell and those who seek shelter. One day, Oren shall return. Aegis shall be strong again!

Shakes his head, his tone dark, annoyed, his expression almost devoid of all emotion, but hatred, he says "Well, well, well, what a damn surprise that it's the rest of the worlds fault that Oren has fallen into such chaos. Who came to the aid of Al'Khazar when it was attacked time and time again? Not a single damn nation...none...only those around, simply attempting to relieve the stress of the constant defense of the entire world on our own were around to fight. Look at this, in the end, it's the other races that destroyed the humans, not the undead, or themselves. Amazing job the world has done...the end is truly coming, yet still you're all to power hungry to realize your job now is to prepare to run, and make sure your friends run too...the undead did not win alone...the world helped them..."

It's now a fight for survival.. The races have turned on eachother, Orcs raiding Elves, Dwarves watching as the Humans crumble.. Aegis has plunged into a free-for-all.

I shall carry Winterfell in my heart, wherever destiny will lead me.

And now ... this southern fool with their rebellion ...

They don't care for Oren. They only lust for power. With all the things I've seen, I feel a shred of comfort in the certainty, that they will receive a fitting end by the hand of the beings, that took my home away from me.

Let them be captains on the sinking ship.

Ever human with a sane mind has probably exiled himself from what is left of Oren at this point in time anyway.

*Tyraelius stares at the burnt parchment, rage building within him.*

Everything I've loved and fought for, extinguished in a matter of days...

I knew this would happen, the rebellion has caused nothing but trouble. I hope they are pleased with the results they've wrought.

I'll be damned if I let what's left of Oren fall to these monsters! Southern Oren WILL hold.

*throws the paper to the wind as he thinks on the times.

"I've fought for this dying nation for quite long enough." he says to himself

"heh... A dying civilization... Time to get out."

It's the southerners turn to stall the undead advance now... At least I get to fight in my beloved forests. I only hope we can heed their advance long enough for the other nations.

Aloria, the secret state, remains tall in the north.

A small note is pinned under the message

Crimson Vale never fell, it was always under the rule of the living corpse..
