Hail Dwarves!

I be Aryon, Royal Guard for the Humans. Some know me, some don't. What I am here to talk about, is whether I should wield a sword, or an axe? Please, tell me the pros and cons of each of them.

OOC:

Now to the OOC side. Can you please explain why each is better, because I am trying to decide. And please, give reasoning. If someone say 'Axes' I will literally go nuts, and turn into a duck :???:

(Axes. Sorry, had to say it.. :))

(Swords are more for Tanking. Axes (If your level 100) can litteraly one-shot people. Swords have Counters, parries, and are genrally better, since they have high Accuracy where Axes ussually miss.)

(Can someone explain about wrestling as well? There was a myth for it increases your HP or some kind.

I would say Swords for wars, because you want the front liners to be able to hold the line. Maybe a vanguard/ambushers should use axes, as they cut quickly but cant participate in a long drawn out fight.)

[[ In a Long battle Axe versus Sword both with diamond armor and both golden weapon the axe wil win at the end. But you need a crapton of golden axes. Thats why you should always carry one diamond axe two with it.

I tested it My axe[100 axemastery and Woodcutting 100] versus Sword [100] And in the end the axe broke the other guys armor and I was victorious.

At 100 axe you have 60% chance to hit with a gold axe, If you miss then they still take dmg which is with no armor 2 hearts.

In speak of a Long term battle I would say axes.

If its a no armor fight with golden weapons then probs Sword, The sword will parry and Counter you to death.

It depends heavily on your pvp skill, With a axe you have to be quick and also know when to get away from the counter. you tear threw the opponents armor and kinda breaks them being tanky.

With the sword you have to defends yourself using Rightclick often, Since you are a tank you wont deal to much dmg but being tanky can often save ya the fight.

It really depends on your skill, But for me its axe. So... Idk :D

((Swords

Pro:

-Higher hit chance than axes by 15% comparison of a gold sword to gold axe.

-Swords for allow parry

-Swords counter attack often (around 1-2 hearts of damage)

-Good for short term combat

-Diamond and gold deosn't break (must be a bug)

-Allows non mechanic block (right click)

-Cheaply built, easy to get (2 ingots/diamonds to make)

-Lasts longer since it's made for combat in mc

Con:

-Low damage compared to a axe, Gold axes has a chance to do a insta kill on a non armored object when crit.

-Lower crit chance.

-Hard to get .5% damage bonus (50 blacksmithing, not even sure if there is a lv 50 dam bonus)

((Axes

Pro:

-Sometimes has a 2% chance to break a weapon.

-High crit chance

-Good for long term combat

-Tears through armour, and has a chance to ignore armor

-Higher damage (Don't know the true stats)

-Easier to get .5% dam bonus (Level 40-50 woodcutting)

Con:

-Low accuracy

-Breaks easily (might get fixed)

-More expensive construction (3 Ingots/Diamonds compared to a swords 2)

Swords have more pros than cons, and have many more benifits than axes.

But because of the Armour's durability defence. It would be best to use swords for dueling, and axes for war!

p.s. Talking to Arteh, I have confirmed that the only real benifit you get from wrestling is block, and this works with all items giving you a nice passive defence which is good for axes. So it would be wise to take up axes, and wrestling. But it may cause you to loose the full damage bonus with wood cutting. But still you can get .5%

Combat set ups

Sword mastery

Swords: 100

Blacksmithing: 100

wrestling: 75

Axe mastery

Axes: 100

LumberJacking: 100

Wrestling:75

Hybrid (Set up I use currently, but I'll be most likely be switching to sword mastery)

Swords/Axes 1 can be 100, the other can be around 75 or 85.

Lumberjacking: 40-50 (Depends on what actually give you the .5% bonus)

Blacksmitihng: 50

If you don't want any damage bonuses you can easily exchange Lumberjacking/Blacksmithing/Wrestling for something else like cooking, or a non bonus skill like archery.

Hm. I guess I am leaning a bit to axes at this point...

((I tend to run at much lower FPS than most other players, so I use a sword, simply because it allows me to flop around like a fish spamming the attack button during a large-scale battle. I'm considering switching to axes though once the skills system is fixed.))

I would say for large group battle definatly sword, you gain alot more defence so you will last a lot longer in battle and do moderate damage but if you are in a group others can compensate for that, Axe if you are in a 1v1 because it does slightly more damage and hopefully you can get enough damage done to kill them before they do enough to kill you.

Hmm...Axes are sounding better and better...but swords sound better for tanking...what to do?

[[it all depends how you want to RP. Axe is more DPS while Sword is more tank. I use a sword because IRL I like them better but also because my character wants to protect people and was in the FoA and the first UAC which meant he learned more human type fighting.]]

I think...

If you plan on ambushing people go for axe. Reason: Axes can do a lot of damage, and when you have the ability to attack from the rear, you could kill some people.

But if you want to attack up front, sword would be better. Reason: You would probably be able to stay alive longer, considering the parry stuff.

I choose axes. Fits Dwarven Rp better. Also, they do insane damage both health and durability wise. Plus, a sword is probably taller than Flynn :).

Axes are more of a Mountain Dwarf thing.
