Elvish Law And Justice

Elven law and justice is focused more on correcting the behavior of the offender rather then punishing them. Prisoners are treated humanely and are left to ponder their mistakes in confinement. Capitol punishment usually includes exile. Execution is not permitted in Malinor. However invading forces including those exiled, that have the intent to harm the people of Malinor will be dealt with swiftly.

Minor Crimes:

Disorderly Conduct – Defined as causing disputes intentionally, or provocation.

Assault – Striking another with intent to cause harm.

Trespassing and Breaking and Entering – Entering normally locked areas of a person's residence.

Larceny – Stealing from another.

Severe Crimes:

Armed Assault – Striking or attempting to strike another with a weapon (sword, axe, stick, staff ect).

Robbery – Stealing from another by use of violence or coercion.

Extortion – taking money, possessions, or position by use of violence, coercion, or blackmail.

Capitol Crimes:

Murder – Killing in cold blood or attempting to do such.

Breaking Exile – Returning to a place that one was exiled from.

Treason – Consorting with the enemy of Malinor, giving away secrets of the Princedom, attempting to bring ruin to the Council or an individual on the council (by murder, injury, or slander).

Sentencing:

Minor Crimes: 1 day imprisonment (20 IRL Minutes) Grade 1

Severe Crimes: 3 day Imprisonment (60 IRL Minutes) Grade 2

Capitol Crimes: Exile (for a determined amount of time, or until appealed) Grade 3

Incorrigibility*: Permanent Exile or Unceremonious Death

*Incorrigibility is for those who cannot have their criminal behavior corrected. They face permanent exile from the Princedom. If they break such exile with the intent to harm anyone within the princedom they will be met with Unceremonious Death. This is NOT execution. They are treated as if they are part of an invading outside force. The intent is to protect the people of Malinor from harm. It is not a punishment or a deterrent, but rather a means to safeguard the innocent.

( Surely you have a better way of dealing with the mentally unstable? It isn't very elf like to me without some sort of mercy for those who can't think for themselfs. )

(( But, isn't that the point of the elves? Their reedeeming nature? And at the very least they should recieve

Derp. I've just realised that this is better for the players. But in a perfect world that would be what happens, I think. ))

It should also be noted that when it comes to an execution the elves make no display of it. The death is quick and done so in relative secrecy.

One who lacks control of their own mind in Malinor is no elf at all. What more do we have compared to the other races if not our intellect and wisdom?

(( Which signify OOC. We are in the roleplay forums, so roleplaying rules still count. Sorry if I come across as rude, I've just tech'd an entire show from 3:00 without a break. ))

You forgot locking doors that are not yours, someone locked a few doors of my house and now I have to tear down a wall each time I want to get inside!
