Dwarven Architecture ((Ooc Thread))

The elves have their trees, the humans have their castles and the orcs have their..something.. Anyway, the dwarves don't seem to have a defined style that we use for our cities. This topic is meant to discuss dwarven architecture style and come up with a general style that all dwarven structures should be somewhat based on. Posting your own dwarven buildings made in single player and then discussing them would be greatly appreciated.

*Ahem*

Dwarven architecture... look around you what do you see... Stone.... STone.... StONe.... STONE! well in my opinion the dwarves have their own unique architecure, somewhat human but you can see its dwarven, but it would be great to see the dwarves have a more their own architecture than just humans with a load of stone.

Well stone is great, but how should it be shaped? The Dwarves or Dwemer in Skyrim have a much different style than those in Kaz'Modan in WoW.

Possibly clan home inside of a mountain or city

i think it should be with different kinds of stone, a little bit of dark wood, and a bit of light here and there. i think dwarven architecture is realy easy cause we can just mine and have the mine as a home.

A good architect uses Stone bricks, Cleanstone, and cobble together in the structure. At least, that is what looks good to me.

IMO... stone in all its forms should be used. As most dwarven strongholds are a bit older, moss stone is important as well. Any building should also mesh into existing caverns. A true dwarf lives underground and as such, his home should be within the mines. Natural caverns, stone block, lighting provided by fire, and possible glowstone for larger structures. Just my opinion though.

This reminds me, what happened to the architects guild? Some apps were posted but then it just dropped off the face of the earth.

Check out my house in the Castle District, to the right of the keep. I tried to make itas Dwarven as possible. I will post pictures once I return to my man cave.

I think I know what you're talking about, I've worked hard to make mine Dwarvish, but I think I'm the happiest with my entry hall, I used like 5 different stones/ores.

Well, after doing oh so much RP involving dwarves(or Dwemer, to all Elder Scrolls Fans), I have come to the conclusion that Dwarves are quite fond of using gold in their structures. They will also tend to used carved stone and will usually build very large structures/caves(Compensating for something?). They also have large stone carvings in their great halls, along with enormous statues along main walkways. Dwarves are very mechanically minded, so they may have transport pipes for water or supplies. Just a few ideas from the Dwarfahkiin!

Alright everybody, after spending 3 hours removing and replacing every last piece of wood in my hall, I can now officially say that it is now as dwarven as is currently possible.

Small point that in lots of lore dwarves are said to like to create big structures to make other people small as well but also awestruck that the dwarves built something so massive.

My opinion: Simple geometric (very easy in minecraft)buildings made with stone with wooden beams (use buttons). Make houses up on land sunken in to the ground.
