My basic goal for them is too be shy and go and become a Druid, Ive already picked out a name from Ben's name post, that name being Athaera. I'll probably do sort of a server application within this post so others can be all excited at my new character and I can have an idea of what I'm playing. Being as there isn't many posts I'm seeing with information on Elves, I would love to know how to act like an Elf, how an Elf thinks, and just basically what it means to be an Elf. I already know who I'm having make my skin, but I don't know how my character should look, descriptions and pictures as suggestions would be strongly welcomed. Thank you~

In-Character:

Character Name: Athaera

What is your Race?: Pure-blood Elf, no sub-race.

Biography(This should include the history of your character and his life as well as age, appearance and personality, etc.):

Biography:

I don't know why things have to be like this...but I'm not one to fight...the best I can do is stand by and watch...

My name is Athaera and when I first came into this world was a long time ago. I don't really know anyone because...I guess Ive never taken the time to meet anyone. I'm not too sure who my parents are, never met them, my earliest memories really are of being alone, almost starving, getting handouts from the monks, and visiting libraries. Ive witnessed a lot of wars and battles, though only from the side, Ive always stuck out of peoples sight for some reason, but I have always wanted to make a friend...maybe one day I'll try.

I get a little scared in fights, and don't really have a feel for blades, along with that, I can't exactly defend myself really, I don't have good reflexes, but I guess I'm fine as long as I know where to run away, all I really have is being agile. It generally helps me whenever lightning randomly comes down in Al'Khazar while I'm eating an apple from some rooftop watching people, listening to them talk. Ive always been self-sufficient at least, so I can feed myself.

My only strong trait I could really say is I'm very intelligent and my eyes are always open to the world. I see things from all sides I. I think Ive talked a bit too much of myself and not my life...it's time to tell of my past. I have always done well with nature and animals, along with just having a sense of the how the people near me feel, even if I don't really talk to anyone, I can at least sit by and smile a bit at others joy. As for where Ive lived, I mostly stayed in Laurelin where my home in a forest is. From there I watched nature with a small smile, even if I was aware one day the undead would come and take it. There isn't many stories to tell from my past other than a few run ins with bandits and...no...not that...I don't think I'm ready to talk about that.

My days involved watching wars, trying to help the wounded, especially during those attacks on the undead keeps. I would mend the wounds of others, then just scurry off, not giving them time to thank me. Though once a single zombie attacked me and I had tripped over backwards, it was about to tear at my flesh when an arrow zoomed from a nearby warriors bow and caused it to drop limply. Although I was fine, I was shooken and breathed rapidly for the time, filled with fear. It passed though, in time.

Those days passed by quickly, the undead seeming to grow stronger day by day, but then the keep fell, although another was raised in time, but it fell too. It seemed as though the undead were gone suddenly though. Things were quiet, people celebrated, I was scared for it seemed as an omen, like they were just building their power while hiding in that darkness of theirs. The days went by.

They returned, with more power than imaginable, cities attacked constantly by this one by the name of "Cassandra". She was leading them now and cities were burning almost every week. The fighting just wouldn't stop with her around. People just kept dying as her chaotic influence spread, her power growing, especially after the Alras and Al'Khazar incident. She was too much to stop. But one day, she just vanished, what I thought is Iblees felt she was growing too strong and should claim her power for himself before she broke away from him, but this is just an idea...no facts behind it.

More battles, more attacks, too many to list all in one account, many cities fell, many died, many were lost, infamous individuals coming from the shadows, wanted signs all around, mass murders working in perfect organization, some even alongside the undead. Things were falling apart so easily, then in time, it seemed to calm down. Though something strange happened relating to one of those mass murderers. He began being around peacefully, not even fighting, it almost seemed as though he had...changed sides. The chaos that was being caused seemed to fall apart, aside from the undead attacks, it almost seemed peaceful, as if all these things were all under his direct control.

Some time later, Al'Khazar fell. It was madness, so many people died, there was madness all over Aegis, more wars, more fighting. Nothing would stop it. Though in time, I had...this encounter...with the one I spoke of earlier. His name...Lucas Black...he...held darkness inh is hands now...he-he followed me to my home, grinning. He walked towards me slowly, I didn't know what to do, he raised his fist, and then...it was dark. I woke up some time later, I felt different, like...the color life had for me, had gone gray a bit. Something about me felt darker...I don't know what he did...but...it did something to me...Lucas Black...

Age: 127

Appearance: A male Elf. Need to think of more detail.

Personality: A shy, though friendly Elf who tries his best to help others with his intelligence and knowledge of medicinal things. Though most don't have the time to thank him, he just fears something in him that makes it hard for him to be near people. He's good with nature and has a good memory and can look at things from different ends with a level headed sense to them. and really has no skill fighting, but is very agile and able to get away from bandits easily. Though at times after the incident with Lucas Black, he seems to fall into sort of a trance at random, then shakes it off when someone tries to get his attention.

Your characters ambitions: None...

Out in the Wilds, your character comes across a small cottage. Outside, there appears to be an elf struggling combat with two bandits. What does your character do?

Seeing the commotion, he panics a bit, what were they after? He had gathered quite a bit of Minas on his own from selling food and such at various locations, maybe he could pay them to leave the man alone...he called out to them, shakily, saying "If y-you leave him alone, I'll pay you a nice amount of Minas!" The two bandits stepped back, nodding gleefully, he reached into his pouch and drew two handfuls of 300 Minas and gave it to them. He felt a little scared they would kill him now, but tried his best not to show it. They walked away, happy they got more than what they came for. The Elf was about to thank him, but he ran off quickly, a few tears in his eyes, he stopped somewhere, hid behind a tree, and breathed a bit quickly. After a while, he resumed his usual schedule.

Your character walks up to a shop in the middle of Al'Khazar. "Hello, my good sir!" says the shop owner. "What may I help you with today?" How does your character answer?

Needing some stone supplies for building purposes, he glances at his shoes for a moment then looks up and says "I...I need to buy some stone..." he says looking away a bit. He looks back, making himself be brave and says "Um...how much is it per piece and I need 3 stacks..." the man responds "I sell stone for 2 Minas a piece, so that'll be..." he begins thinking of the math in his head, but Athaera respond swiftly having already thought of it "It's 194 Minas." The merchant nods his head and says "That sounds about right." He reaches into his picket drawing out the Minas and handing it to the man, he counts it, and hands over the stone and says "Have a good day, thank ye!" Athaera nods a bit with a small wave and a shy smile as he walks away with the supplies.

From what I heard, elves are really lovey dovey bout nature, but you probably guessed that with all the trees lying round the place right?

Anyway, being an elf would mean a slower track of time, and usually calmer and more peaceful existence than the other races (in this case, humans, dwarves, etc). After all, with such a large life expectancy, they don't really have to worry about death, unless they fall off a tree, get burned into a crisp from a fireball, etc, and usually just stay in their trees and basically think about the arts and philosophical questions that they ponder. (Painting, Music, etc.) Elves are a treasure trove of information as they have been alive for many centuries, and thus can talk about world events that happened 10, 20, or even 100 years ago. if we would like to advance that further, elves would be able to write large volumes of books about history, and thus be considered "scholars" of Aegis (if they manage to play that character for that long)

However, long lives do have their downsides. For one, friends that are not humans that die from wounds or old age usually affect an elf drastically, since other races have such a short lifespan compared to elves. Thinking about their long lost friends, let forced to live on, would probably drive an elf pretty conkers over a LARGE amount of years.

An elves style of thinking would probably be best analogized by a tree. Slow, steadfast, and steady. Since they have been blessed with such long lives, they really don't have to worry about everyday concerns, often taking a minamalistic approach to their style of eating (Bread instead of meat), thinking (more philosophical), and other areas of their lives.

If your elf was a druid (which she is?), then they would have an enhanced view on nature than other elves. This may be an enhanced view of a tree. For example, you would probably feel the pain in a tree which had its branches cut off by human lumberjackers. Of course, this depends on the aspect that you take. Say, if you take fire, then you would not feel guilty for the tree being consumed by flames. After all, fire requires wood to survive right? In addition, elfs have relationships that are as set in iron as two iron links chained together.

Then again, these are just a few random thoughts from a 14 year old who never rolled an elf before, so take it with a grain of salt. Just curve some thoughts while an actual expert rolls in like thunder of an undead attack.

OOC:

Here is my two cents:

First off, if your character is going to be an elf. The age of elves can be very high, finally reaching old age around 1000 years old. However, adulthood is attained at the early age of 20, just like everyone else. This means that 98% of an elf's life he is an adult. In other words, you should RP as a character who is very wise, uses good grammar and vocabulary, and doesn't make irrational choices that haven't been well thought out. Elves also like to keep to themselves, they are mostly private, but at times they can be pretty arrogant. Elves are fertile up until they are middle aged, which occurs at 500 years, but once they have their first child they become infertile within around 20 years.

If you want to become a druid (any race can be one, although yes they are typically elves), then you need to have a specific type of character. For one thing druids are inquisitive, and have a thirst for knowledge and books that is as strong as their love of nature. Experienced druids are also great herbalists, and therefore great healers, although don't expect to become a druid and BAM you can heal a person just as good as the most experienced herbalists. Druids are peaceful at all times, even during wars, so they aren't the type to run around in full armor holding a sword, or threatening people that look at them weirdly. However, a druid is entitled to using violent action when they are acting in self defense, or they feel as if the sacred grove or their druid brothers and sisters are endangered.

A misconception about druids is that they rule over nature, but it actually is closer to the truth when saying that nature rules over druids. Druids act as an ally to nature, and do all in their power to protect and preserve it, and every action they take has the purpose of helping it. However, this doesn't mean RP as some hippy who goes around strumming a Ukulele and singing about hugging trees. Also, druids should follow a vegetarian diet. Most people don't RP this simply because it is hard to survive in minecraft when the most abundant food source is meat, yet it should be done anyways.

EDIT:

Of course, this depends on the aspect that you take. Say, if you take fire, then you would not feel guilty for the tree being consumed by flames. After all, fire requires wood to survive right?

Misconception as well, druids don't follow a certain aspect. When dedicants are attuned with nature and made into a full druid, they are asked to pick a totem, although it isn't 100% required. This totem is a representation of the druid that chose it, and it can range from an animal that the druid feels they represent or a place that has a deep meaning to the druid.

However, the totem they choose does not set in stone their way of life, and it is also not permanent. For instance, I am the Tiger Druid because I am playful and like to have fun, however I am serious when I have to be, I am patient, and I can attack topics rather aggressively. However, let's say that in time I become lazy and don't want to do anything but sleep in my room, I don't care what goes on around me, and I procrastinate a lot, then I might become the sloth druid. The totem represents the druid, but the druid doesn't represent the totem.

And if you are the fire druid, this doesn't mean that you wouldn't feel guilty if a tree was on fire, and you might not even like fire at all. In fact, the fire druid could absolutely hate fire and do everything in his power to stop it from occurring.

No beards (except native cause he was high prince)

Also incorrect. If you read Native's signature link or read some lore from Tolkien you would find something saying that it IS possible, just extremely rare. In fact here is the link from his signature:

"The Beardy Elf GM" PROOF, that elves can have beards!

Also a quote from the link:

"He had a beard, which was rare for Elves..."

^ The including of the word "rare" implies that, although uncommon, it is possible

I will add more as I think of it, but that is the basics for now.

^^Just to say, I have a strong understanding oocly of the RP magic we have on here, so no worries about that. I know how to work my way up the right way from my characters eyes, it takes time.

Just remember elves are not human. Their long lives give them a slightly detached outlook on the world.

Insults mainly should roll off their back, especially if they are only verbal. Calling a male elf a girl for example will get just an odd look (as gender roles aren't diverse in elven culture). Slow to anger, but even slower to forgive. Small slights will be an annoyance at best, but wrong an elf and they'll never forget.

Elves are less likely to fight over trivial things, preferring words and wisdom. But they are not pacifists. They don't usually wish to conquer, take wealth, or even station. But threaten their family, culture, or freedom and they'll reveal their wrath.

Socially they see each other as equals. Even elders are seen as friends and comrades. In fact they don't much revere ancestors because many are still living amongst them as friends and neighbors. They do respect their wisdom. Respect is also given to those who show great deeds. Positions are given based on ability rather then rewards.

Thank you very much all three of you for well done responses, helped me get an idea of what I'm going into. Big update on the bio thanks to that. Any comments, criticisms, suggestions, and pictures/descriptions for the appearance are welcomed, especially considering that's the point of this post. Going to bed now, 2:50 AM. Bye bye~ And thanks!

I already looked up the definition >.> Still looking for suggestions for the look and other information people want to help with!

Hmm for the look?

Well dark elves tend to have dark gray, dark blue or dark purple skin and usually light gray or even white hair. High elves tend to have pale skin and black or brown hair, but blonde is possible. Wood elves have tan or brown skin and have brown hair, occasionally black.

Seeing as you don't have a subrace, it should be somewhere in the middle of all that. I suggest having tan skin with dark brown hair. However, you don't want to have a character that just fits in with everyone else and seems average, so if I were you I would have some crazy and unique eye color thing, kind of like you have now. To compliment the tan skin and dark brown hair, I would do a VERY light blue (kind of like ice blue) eye AND a medium blue eye. Elves have thin and defined features, so the lips should be barely visible on the skin itself, and not to obvious. The hair should be medium length at its shortest, but I would go with a longer style that drapes over the shoulders and down the back. That should sum up the basic head features.

As for the body, the clothes should be elegant yet plain. This means having a style that seems like it is made out of high quality silk or some expensive fabric and has subtle trimming here and there, but it doesn't stand out and have colors that clash at each other. As a druid, clothing should include the colors green as well as brown, and it should be loose like robes or something that isn't tight. For accessories, you might think about having a natural crown made of twigs and leaves, or maybe a vine spiraling around itself.

Those are just some suggestions and ideas, but you should use them as a base and starting point.

^^Thank you very much, now taking that into consideration...

What'chu think of this picture to base it off of?

Take away the cape, the mark on the forehead, make the eyes like how you said. Seems good to me, criticisms, more amazing suggestions?
