Dark Elven Unity

A flamboyant notice as hung up in the Elven territory of Elandriel.

Even in my serene retirement, I have heard a voicing of complaints from the presumably 'rootless' Dark Elves. Mali'ker feel there is no place for them in Asulon, causing them to shatter to the lands that are not really theirs.

Please, for I wonder ever so greatly, respond to me why or why not you, a Mali'ker from Aegis, would want to live in a city amongst your peers. Then, how curious would you be about the history and customs of the Dark Elves before you, and how much value would you place on such knowledge if it were found?

Know that I do a bit of dabbling in history, and no knowledge is ever lost. You may feel without a home, directionless without a history, or slighted when yet another ignoramus confuses you for a vicious Native Dark Elf, but it need not be this way. All you need is to voice your ambition!

In unity lies strength.

Continued below the notice of Gordian is an efficiently styled letter, bearing the insignia of the Maheral of Haelun'or.

And in strength lies unity. Amongst adages that the perusing eyes are fond of, few would be more aptly appeasing to a curious sentiment than 'knowledge is power', though crude in its simplicity is elegant in its truth. As such tales of your exploits have not gone unnoticed, nor has the cultural desolation of our Dusk Brothers.

No longer would I see individuality sacrificed so that they may mearly find some degree of contentment within the Mali lands. By means of this notice I extend an official invitation from Haelun'or to R. Gordian, granting him access to the College library, in the hopes that this may shed light upon the history of Dark Elves.

Those Dark Elves wishing to rediscover their heritage, I shall leave it to the discretion of Gordian to determine whether there are some persons whom he deems fit to aid him in his studies, which I hope to see resumed in these lands.

If any Mali'ker feels that their voice is not being heard, then come speak to me directly. I have the ears of the council whether they like it or not. The voices will be heard and I will see to it that the Mali'ker are treated fairly and with respect.

*A letter lies below Gordian's*

Seven years have passed since we first set foot into these new lands. No longer are men and women starving, wondering the world trying to find a place to call home. All seems to have settled, but our people problems' have been merely been replaced.

Times are changing fast. I fear that our future will soon turn black. We are no longer free to live prosperously without discrimination. The men and women I once fought for as a warden now only look at me in fear and distrust. I feel fellow elves gazes' like daggers in my back when I pass by. Some even run at the sight of me, expecting to be dragged beneath the earth to be enslaved, tortured, and killed.

My son who is just a child can sense the distrust. Day by day I have to somehow come up with an answer to my sons despairing questions about why the others stare at him, or why the other children run away as he approaches them just to simply play. Simple questions as these have become a hindrance on my heart. I no longer have the same alacrity and devotion I once had to the council, malinor, and my fellow elves.

We must change with the times or as a race, we will fall. But there is still hope. We still have a chance to reclaim our lost history. To unveil mysteries behind our orgins. To once again walk the streets without menacing glares and gazes. To claim a sanctuary of our own.

Gordian, you have my upmost support in seeking our lost knowledge

A note, written in plain but neat hand writing, hangs attached to the others. It is on a parchment that is ever so slightly torn and hurt at the edges, but still very crisp and clean in the center. It reads

Sir, permit me to say something from my heart that I would love for you to know.

The Dark Elves, in my eyes, deserve the best cities, the best governments, and the best treatment of all the Elves. Your people have endured the worst discrimination of all, and I wish to only see that triumphed and fixed. Please, discover your history, and relate it back to the public, for I feel it will be the richest, most emotional timeline of any subrace, and that it will reflect the very best of your people.

It is my regret I can offer you no hint to your past, but please, ask me for anything you so desire.

The note is signed in a fashion much more elaborate than seen in the writing above, in a cursive font with grand loops and waves.

I am glad there is still interest from a few Dark Elves that remain true from their kin. Research is nothing if there is nobody to benefit from it, and I will make sure you will be updated on any matter of importance I will uncover in the near future.

Secondly, then, are there any Dark Elves willing to act on anything that may be required for the sake of this research? If so, please leave your details with the Haelun'or college and I will contact you when it becomes necessary.

Here's hoping for many more replies from the elusive Mali'ker.

I may not be able to provide you with valuable reaserch assets, but you will have my full commitment with anything possible to trigger this movement that my people deserve. My past as a soldier would hardly help you, but I will try to the best of my abilities to rally as many of as I can to aid this cause.

If there are any other tasks that unveil as we further progress into discovering the truth behind my mysterious people I am prepared to take upon them, untangling the mysteries, by any means necessary.

Looking at the long list of notes that have been posted and reading through each one, Eryndir pulls out a note of his own and tacks it to the board. The note reads:

I would gladly join any movement my kin see fit to begin. We need a place to call our own, with which to live and grow. We need somewhere safe to study our past and learn from our ancestors. Somewhere we can escape the judgmental eyes of not only the other races, but our fellow elves. I can barely walk into a Human town without being stared at, and having every movement I make scrutinized by guards. We Mali'ker must band together and adapt to these new times and this new land. Perhaps it would be best to separate from most civilizations in order to find the common connections that bind us all together. And I am sure I am not the first to suggest such a thing, but if I may be so bold as to add that it may be ideal to contact the native Dark Elves. These "Mori" may know something of our past that we do not, or may be able to help us in ways we never thought of. If anything is to be done we must band together and find a place of our own, a Home.
