If this does eventually turn out on the client.. will it still work on the Xbox? Mojang announced that it would make Minecraft for Xbox compatible with all non-client Minecraft servers.. so would the server still work without the client?

I don't think anyone would have a very fun time playing LoTC on an XBox. Seeing as you need to do the typing and all.

This. I would love to see this as long as it accommodates Macs and PCs. I would hate to be unable to play because I own a Mac.

Sort of like making your own game :) If it really is as simple as said, Im sure myself and 95% of the other players will be happy to do this :D But you will of course get the few that will die of confusion out there and we may lose a few players on the way. I still think its an amazing idea.

Downloading minecraft is free anyway. You will still need to buy a minecraft account and something like this may get more people to play lotc therefore at the end of the day Mojang gain more from this than they lose. In fact, they dont lose anything!

Nope. We'll still use their authentication servers, people will still need minecraft account.
