Personally I think we should locate our city in a big ravine, or use an existing one and make it bigger. Then have bridges from one side to the other, having "floors" a bit like Utapau in star wars (link). It's good for several reasons; we can defend the city (or atleast half of it) easily by controlling the bridges, and the possibility to have houses inside the mountain with a good view and not having to make those ugly square houses in stone.

We would then get that open area that dwarfs like, but without the too big and ugly dome-thing like in kal'urgan.

I'll take it we are doing this then, so, this is my idea. Kal'Dwain gets attacked by a massive force of enemies. Not having any defenses, they flee to Karik where we welcome them with open arms. Then, we send out our army to stop the invaders, and, we lose. Badly. We then, in desperation, the last of the Mithral Elite shut the Great Gates to keep the invaders from destroying the Holy City. In an act of fury the armies leader, a wizard, slams the mountain with a massive magical attack causing the entire mountain to shake with it's fury. In the resulting earthquake, the Entertainment, Business Districts, and part of the Housing District and Collapsed Cavern, fall in. Reducing us to just the Noble District, Great Forge, Castle, Religious District, and then part of the Cavern and housing Districts.

Details (How you work, what you like to build etc.) :- I like good old fashioned medieval architecture and I've been trying out some Dwarven architecture for a few months on SP. I also work for the RP server Ostmirian Empire on the build team.

Since I built the original city do I still need to apply? Also I would reccomens watching the outsider builders as they are not well known to dwarvern architecture.

I like to work with underground caverns and often with a small group of people who are easy to manage... I will also teach the new workers how to use stairs and half steps in constructions. Also to add I like to build dwarvern buildings, for a example please refer to Karik and the kal'Urguan wall but I am more than happy to help build again!

Details (How you work, what you like to build etc.) :- I prefer to build things that serve a purpose and are used a lot. Such as farms, defences and traps.

Screenshots :- I have been making some of the farms for the animals and helped the other architects on some projects. I am at school though so no screenies.

Ideas of what we could construct...

- If we can find a decent valley that can suffice, the only issue is the size of this... though it deos seem like a small ravine the issue that arises is the buildings that dig deeper into the earth.

- This is a idea or a template of how overground houses can appear, they will be decently sized and we can fit humans and other races into it's hearth so they keep out of our Dwarvern society.

A nice feature with this design is that we can keep a few buildings within a area where Dwarves work and socialize, I was thinking about pretty much building a tavern (Where every dwarf eats), storehouse (stores collected goods), and clan halls in which Dwarves can reside within it will keep construction simplified and closer together.

EDIT: Personally, if we have to leave, I don't like the idea of a "Ravine" city. I would rather everything be close together. Oh, and in a snow biome. :P

The Ravine idea would only be for the housing and possible entrance.. Why not have all the housing right above the entrance? We are thinking of ideas currently, things might not be the best yet.

Hrm....Well, how about the ravine leads to a massive chamber similar to the current Noble District? With your castle in the middle, and Clan and Guild halls wrapped around the sides, similar to the current ones.
