Hey! Us mac users need a way to downgrade! We can't use EXE files!

Not sure if this is EXE as well (or updated) but a mod named mc nostalgia can downgrade your minecraft. It uses a batch file I believe.

There are a few programs that you can use to downgrade Minecraft if you are using a mac. Google is your friend when you are in this situation.
