Permissions In Haven

This is going to sound like complaining, but there are good reasons as to why this annoys me.

So, there are no sages on, and I'm building my house, and it's going really well, and then I fall off the roof. I have 1 and a half hearts, but it turns out I can't get any food because I don't have any more permissions for the general Haven region. Sorry if I'm complaining, but it is a problem when there are no sages on. And I also can't leave the city, because the gates are locked........which is a big pain too.

And there were no other ascended on, and I had to logoff until someone gets on to save me -_-

Will permissions be granted once training is over, and we have been proven to be honest people, and you know we aren't going to be stealing things?

Permission for the main city region are for sages only. occasionally, we may add people if they are helping us with something, but they will always be removed once they are no longer need or the sage that added them logs off. This is done to prevent mass griefing. The bank region, however, is accessible only to sages and bankers to keep people from stealing our resources. even those who have completed training might be tempted to steal.

the gates are closed because the city is not quite open to the public yet. once the riizu has deemed haven ready, we will open the main gate and it will be open almost constantly. the inner working of gates and the wall are restricted to sages and guards, but we have no guards right now.

that said, i do think we need to set up a public region for the wheat farm in the inner city.

There's actually a very elegant solution to this issue, which would be blinking through the gate. Just jump and right-click while holding your "Wand." I am fairly sure there will be a tutorial on this later, and will be the mass solution for when the city is locked down.

I truly wish just going through training was enough for us to judge character. Unfortunately, that isn't the case, as seen with Nialena. (I STILL am probably not spelling that name right)

I do believe a more elegant solution for food is needed though. Perhaps either the solution Sage Candle has posted, or we can look into maybe a communal cafeteria or something.

Ultimately, I will admit that as sages there are some things we forget, but I don't think were being TOO irrational about this. I'd rather see the city extremely protected and everyone's valuables and homes safe then not protected and griefed all the time. Months of effort went into the city, and we'd rather not see it wasted.

I would LOVE to see you're ideas for solutions to this problem though! :(

I wrote an entire response.....

****ing internet ****ed up and refreshed the page -_-

Here I go again....

Solutions:

1)Food: Communal eating area sounds like a great idea, we should also delegate the harvesting of wheat to a certain sect of ascended, but still allow all ascended to harvest, as long as they replace the seeds, and put the execs into storage for eventual transfer to the bank vault.

2) Entrance and exits: Make an LWC door that only lets in and out confirmed ascended (It's relativly easy to keep updated if you only accept classes of 6 at a time) that seems like a good solution for ascended entering and leaving the city

3) Resources: People with reasons to have access to the bank vault should have access to it, these people are builders/bankers and sages. (What do bankers do?)

Those people will need to be screened much more heavily, that is an unfortunate reality.

While this is considerably shorter than the original post (not joking, it was like an essay of 5 paragraphs), I think it delivers the point nicely, feel free to point out stupidities and things I have missed (There are probably tons)

I won't be doing an LWC door, because as soon as you are ascended, you are able to have access to magic, and as such the Blink spell, which solves entering and exiting the city.

The bank vault is honestly..well...massive. And its a HUGE undertaking to keep organized. That is just another reason why very few people have access to it. Thus, we have Sage Okonkwo's entire sect, which is dedicated to banking and commerce.

This leads me to your third point, which was on the food. Perhaps I shall make farming part of Sage Okonkwo's sect, and then we can have another job for them. As well as this, any stores should require approval by him. I don't think everyone should have permission to farm though. It really removes the entire point of making the sect have the job. Basically, it should be one way or the other, not both.

Oh, and stop being so down on yourself! lol. You're points are all valid. Relax.

xD I forgot about the blink spell, my bad!

The problem with the bank is that there might not be a banker on often enough for them to retrieve the needed materials, I personally plan to be deeply involved in building, so this is the point that I stress the most.

Your right, as long as the cafeteria is well stocked at all times, meaning the someone - or a sect - would have to be responsible for this stocking.

P.s. I'll write more when I get back, in about an hour :)

I am not ascended, and I don't know if my input is worth anything, but what about a second bank? It would be much smaller, and would have supplies, but nothing that if someone stole, would be impossible to leave with out. ( Ex: Leather Armour, Wool, Torches, Cobblestone, Planks, )
