Proclamation From The High Princess

Fliers are posted at all the important notice boards around the city of Normandor and the Coastal region.

Dearest friends,

The plague upon the mainlands has been devastating. Many grow sick and eventually die from this unknown contagion that has seeped into the peoples of Asulon.

Individuals that have the plague can be identified by green spots upon their skin, vomiting or coughing blood, and numbness in the hands and feet. It is imperative that they not be approached.

In order to safeguard the Holy Princedom, we have taken a number of measures to ensure the pandemic does not arrive here.

  • The gates to the city will remain sealed until my order to open them. They will not be opened for any other reason and none other then myself will be able to authorize it.

  • All forms of message carriers will be stopped. This means all pigeons, falcons, spiders, rats, and any other animal used to deliver a message will be shot at a distance by an archer. Do not receive these messages. The animal or letter itself could very well be tainted. The message and the carcass of the animal will be summarily burned.

  • If an infected manages to enter the city, it is unfortunate but they must be disposed of. From a distance with archery if possible. From what has been reported to me, there is no actual cure. What worked in the beginning has been failing on those who are now getting sick. New cures are apparently working less and less as well. Bodies of the infected will be burned.

  • Harboring infected individuals without reporting them to the Sentinels will result in exile from the city. The amount of time of the exile is indefinite, at least until the plague passes.

  • All events, celebrations, and other meetings are canceled and postponed until further notice.

  • All weapons and armor will be cleaned daily. Arrows or leather armor that comes in contact with a plagued victim will be burned with the body.

These measures are harsh, but necessary for the safety of our people and it burdens me greatly to have to initiate this. Blessings of Malin upon you all.

*Reads the notice and nods approvingly. He doesn't like it, but he understands such actions must be taken to ensure the survival of Malinor's citizens (at least those fortunate enough to have made it within the capital before the gates were closed). Toren folds and pockets one of the flyers before wandering away, muttering under his breath slightly.*

"Time to take another walk around Normandor."

Approaching the great bridge linking Normandor to the elven island, Ashur pauses to read over the bright notice pinned before him. He slowly nods in approval, but turns and continues up the path to reach the twin gates that bar off the city. I've got bigger problems right now.

Approaching the side of the bridge, the weathered Dark Elf studies the lax waves rolling beneath him. With a short sigh of unease followed by a fierce shake of the head, he leaps forward and dives into the waters below, well knowing that if he catches the plague the forests will no longer be his to prowl within.

He pierces the surface of the cool blue waters and resurfaces momentarily, straining to swim towards the shoreline that lies just about 40 yards away.

Here's hoping they don't repossess my apartment while I'm gone...
