The Most Noted Player has returned for good!

Most of you will remember a week or two ago, Trouvo was selected. Danny and I were trying to get this thing back up so all of you guys can bathe in some glory once in a while. I can say for a fact that the Most Noticed Player is back. And this fortnight, I am awarding it tooo...

Gaius Marius

He has been chosen because of his work with the Subudai and as a Lore Master. He's also a pretty inspiring Historian too. I contacted him in skype to interview him, and here is the transcript.

~-~-~-~

[10:37:59 AM] Will Bishop (Hyperion): First of all, I would like to congratulate you on obtaining the 'Most Noted Player' title. I think our last one was Trouvo, and you both really deserved it. May I ask, how do you feel about becoming the 'Most Noted Player'?

[10:38:59 AM] Russ Fot: Well as a former Mrs. America- er I mean Player of the Week, it is an honor to have been chosen by hopefully my peers. I play this game for entertainment for myself and service onto others with my writing.

[10:41:01 AM] Will Bishop (Hyperion): Ah yes! Your writing! I must say, it is very good. The lore for the Subudai, the other copious amounts of lore you have written, all has a certain flair to it. May I ask, where do you get your inspiration from, and when did you decide that you would put your writing skills into LoTC?

[10:44:28 AM] Russ Fot: My inspiration? I have always been fascinated my how we are in real life, it has intrigued me genuinely. I have a great knowledge and fascination to learn History and as a Freshmen in College, I am moving towards a Masters in History. I love writing as well, fiction and poetry both, it is a bit of a mystery of my direct inspiration, but I am inspired to provide my service so to speak. When did I decide? Towards the end of my senior year of High School.

[10:47:15 AM] Will Bishop (Hyperion): Ah yes, I think any people who have heard of Gaius Marius, the Roman general, know about your interest in the historical aspect of the world. Is this also what spurred your ideas for the Subudai, and if not, what did? It is an amazing roleplaying experience that I am proud to be a part of, where did it come from?

[11:08:47 AM] Russ Fot: When I began to think of the concept of a nomadic group, it was after I had actually watched and read a biography of Temujin, infamous as Genghis Khan. Subutai was a military general under Temujin's unification of the Mongols and thus I simply made a change to the lettering to make my Nomadic group named 'the Subudai'. This occurred when I was writing the Lore of the Ancient Hansetians. At the time, many players were troubled to find out that 'it was nigh impossible' to enter a pre-existing Asulon group besides the Mori. I was writing the lore of the Ancient Hansetians who had decided to split into three groups, those who remained, the Hanseti, the Subudai, and the Dervas. As for my character's name, Sauros is greek for 'lizard, mighty lizard' and Alanbataar is named near the translation of Mongolia's modern capital.

[11:12:27 AM] Will Bishop (Hyperion): It's quite nice being able to look at a place or thing in LoTC and see it present in real life too, would you agree? It allows us to feel connected to the real world while we are hunkered over our computers :P. May I ask you to go more indepth about the things you have done for Hanseti? Danny said, "Talk to Gaius about Hanseti." And quite sheepishly, I didn't know about your relation to the place, I'm sure that some others would like to know!

[11:21:14 AM] Russ Fot: I will gladly address Hanseti. It was around the time that we were transferring Aegis to Asulon so to speak. Some players and the GM team had inspired to write and build about pre-existing ruins, nations, races, and such, but there was something that was a stump. Native and Respiren I can specifically remember talked about how 'it may contradict with Ancient Lore written by the Wandering Wizard (Availer)'. I had familiarized myself with the Ancient Lore and saw where it may contradict, for the Wandering Wizard 'narrated' that there seems to be only one continent so to speak. Hanseti itself does not have many ruins as to ascertain that there were an ancient group pre-existing, but I felt it a challenge to write a logical piece of Lore explaining so.

In the shortest way to explain, as I do have the Lore on the 'Realm of Hanseti' forums. What had happened was through realistic thought, I had wrote that with the proliferation of the populations sent down to 'Aegis' by the 'Creator', there were some in-fighting over fertile areas, so much so that war and conflict broke out as each family and formed groups sought to see their own succeed in procreation and proliferation even at the cost of others. And thus the Hanseti was formed by eight families who sought out the Wandering Wizard to request that they somehow find land that was 'untouched'. Thus the Wandering Wizard had in fact opened the portal to the Verge, allowing the eight families to pass.

One may ask, now how does this not show on the Ancient Lore?! One must remember it is a NARRATION by The Wandering Wizard himself, for we may remember that Iblees had come and was to be opposed by the Four Brothers and their offspring, surely it was imperitive that they faced Iblees as good acting men and women rather than hypocrites who had attempted to push each other off of the good land. This was what The Wandering Wizard had thought, he would not speak of what he had did. If he had done so, those who read his narration would realize how hypocritical their ancestors were, fighting their own for the fertile land, then opposing Iblees's sinister deeds.

[11:24:18 AM] Will Bishop (Hyperion): I now understand! Thank you! I'll move onto some more personal questions now, if you don't mind. How did you feel about the move to Asulon? Which world did you prefer and why? My pick would be Aegis, because I loved the King's Road.

[11:27:06 AM] Russ Fot: I believe Asulon is splendid, Aegis is definitely missed. Asulon has a more realistic touch to it and I applaud that. The distance between nations force players to be more realistic with their RP, it makes them think about going that extra mile. King's Road was awesome though, I remember marching the Teutonic Order up and down that road hunting for Undead when Jigg21 decided to set up shop with a bunch of his crony minions. Oh also marching that same road trailing the Dwarven/Human alliance attempting to siege the Orc Capital and doing a hammer and anvil and saving Uruk-arse lol.

[11:28:27 AM] Will Bishop (Hyperion): The King's Road is a place of good and bad memories for many of us. What is your greatest memory of Aegis, and the greatest thing that your character's have done in Asulon so far?

[11:29:55 AM] Russ Fot: In Aegis, forming the Teutonic Order with a blind Dark Elf Female (Darkness2399), a Dwarven Blacksmith (Firtahl), and the current Hochmeister (jontillmon). In Asulon, migrating to the new campsite for the Subudai and seeing the beautiful Kotan (Tribe) Circles and RPing with a new array of interesting players.

[11:31:31 AM] Will Bishop (Hyperion): I wish I had been in the TO in Aegis, they were awesome I heard. I think that basically sums up the interview, and I must head off to my soccer match now. Is there anything else you would like to say?

[11:32:39 AM] Russ Fot: Thanks for giving me the honor of being The Most Notable Player of the Week and my Lore Master Dossier is in the AIC Forums, welcome to send me any requests for my writing help!

[11:33:24 AM] Will Bishop (Hyperion): Cunning advertising :P. The honour was and is all mine, I hope that you enjoyed this interview and can enjoy the honour of being MNP for months or even years to come :P

And that wraps it up! Congratulate Gaius for his marvelous work here!
