The Best Basileus 97 Share Posted July 7, 2012 I really do not agree with your assessment that diamond armor is inviable. There was an incedent when an entire nation's military got wiped out by four guys in full diamond armor and gold swords, and even though kiting was attempted (by me), I was soon in Cloud Temple after having killed absolutely nobody. awesumninja123 54 Share Posted July 7, 2012 IMO, the armour slowness does make it realistic, but its basically impossible to sprint, and makes chasing people and swimming very. very hard. Maybe nerf the slowness, and increase the duribility of armor because everyone knows how much I love long fights
pancho_villa_m 0 Share Posted July 10, 2012 what i see here is a problem for realism, but its a videogame you and you can only do so much. my thoughts are that archer should still be VERY powerful, for example in a movie that involves archers when DON'T you see them one shoting people, but then you'll say:"but i dont want to be killed instantly! *starts to cry*". i say that instead of instant one shots why not have a percentedge chance of MASSIVE dammage when hit with a "crittical hit" (bad spelling?) like if you have no armor a head shot has a 50% of a "crittical hit" if hit, which is possible to cause 5-7 hearts of dammage, a torso hit has a 35% chance of "crittical hit" if hit dealing 4-7 hearts of dammage, a leg or foot hit with no armor has a 20% crittical hit dealing 3-5 hearts of dammage. for clarification a critical hit is only possible if you hit the required spot on the body. here are a few moar examples: this could also be implemented with melee weopons. LEATHER head: 40% 3-6 torso: 30% 3-5 legs/feet: 15% 1-4 CHAIN head: 30% 2-6 torso: 20% 2-5 legs/feet: 15% 1-3 IRON head: 15% 2-6 torso: 15% 2-4 legs/feet: 10% 1-3 GOLD head:20% 2-5 torso: 20% 2-5 gold has a higher chance of a crittical hit but less dammage legs/feet: 15% 1-3 DIAMOND head: 10% 1-6 torso: 10% 1-6 legs/feet: 5% 2-3 SHIELDS I had an idea for this: if you had a iron or wood door in your hotbar and pressed shift(your selection box would not need to be on the shield (door) in the hot bar so you could actualy use a weopon, and pressing shift means you can't charge your enemy and hold you shield up like the powergamers you are.... mabye ill have to think about it. :P) it would decrease the crittical hit chance by 50% or something like that and there is a 3% chance that the door would dissapear from your invintory. (it would "break") I also agree that armor should slow you down, especialy diamond, no matter what people say about wieght and junk.
Stag 3231 Share Posted July 11, 2012 This is a wonderful idea in my opinion and in turn will make blacksmiths more valuable. Ever thought about adding criticals that would pierce the armor a little bit? Exp: *so-in-so hits what's-his-face.* -Critical hit- -Armor absorbs 1 heart- -damage pierces for 2 hearts- Just a basic idea.
Mordecai Fury 18 Share Posted July 31, 2012 Why not remove slowness and make armor an extention of the HP bar. So if I have ten hearts on a normal HP bar, but I'm wearing chain armor, then the 4 1/2 armor fills up just like hearts do when I am well fed. It's the equivalent of having 14 1/2 hearts. This way the armor durability could function the same way it does currently, but wouldn't make anyone an unstoppable tank. Rather, individuals with higher quality armor would require an extra few hits, but would not be unstoppable.
Shar'ku/jenspelao 410 Share Posted July 31, 2012 I think that it is ok now, I would not like to use it as armor.

Tahar Dwineplith (Endmine) 2 Share Posted July 31, 2012 Wearing full plate (iron, diamond, gold) restricts movements so it should be harder to hit someone, even using a bow. So people wearing armor should have reduced attack. Basically you exchange attack for defense.
Imperial Legion Soldier 34 Share Posted July 31, 2012 It seems like a good idea but the armor (besides leather) should make the person run a LOT slower then someone with out it. I am not sure if the big slowness ia already in the game but this is just what I think.
Lock 'eed Ironheart 120 Share Posted July 31, 2012 Screw this idea and spend your time coding an actual shield mod. Keep armour how it is. ^^ This, and if you can remove the strobing effect slowness has. Nothing says stomach turn like your screen zooming in and out while you move.
Glasiconas 111 Share Posted July 31, 2012 ^^ This, and if you can remove the strobing effect slowness has. Nothing says stomach turn like your screen zooming in and out while you move. Exactly, words cannot describe my frustration at the 'In,out,in,out.' of even turning around.

Arashiha 294 Share Posted September 9, 2012 Hey Asulon, I just had an idea for balancing armor. What if I recoded it so armor acted as a shield? What I mean by this is that durability on armor acts as an extension of your HP bar; so you can't take any damage until your armor is fully broken. This would increase realism, balance slowness, increase value of raw materials and armor, etc. Thoughts? i agree with it to a point but when your armour is getting low there is the chance that you would or could be wounded while wearing it? imo, any way armour is to give you some sort of resilience not a shield that you cant be hurt while wearing it?? other wise why did so many people die while wearing armour in real life.....
