You have valid points, but... there's a SOLUTION RIGHT THERE, and a very simple solution too! I don't see why you are not taking it.

I don't see why you cannot build a tower, and a connection of paths... somewhere else?

That forest is gigantic, why do you have to plunk it RIGHT on top of a very beautiful witch house or whatever?

You clearly see that people are not happy about your choice, and you still continue to force things upon them when this can clearly be very easily solved, by just moving the tower you plan to build, like... twenty blocks to the left a bit?

I myself, have passed by that building, and I've always loved it.

It makes me sad, how it's just going to become a dull regular ol' building.

I remember the first time I came across that building, it was AMAZING.

Now people will just see a regular ol' tower, and go, "Oh, okay."

This house right there, is one of the few things that continues making this server mysterious, adventurous and exciting. Seeing something old and ruined, something that the people on the BUILD server built is always great. It's like you war-claiming all of Hanseti's ruins, and turning them into "barracks". Are those not abandoned too?

I'm sure MANY people will not be happy with that decision at all, either.

I remember visiting it multiple times too, often one of my many "sight seeing" locations on my travels to that forest.

Do you really want to get rid of this building, that holds a lot of sentimental feelings for everyone?

It's a win-win situation, if you just move the darn tower somewhere else. It wouldn't even make a difference at all. It makes me question why you REALLY want that plot? Why is it so god darn IMPORTANT, that it MUST BE THERE, no where else? Just because it's abandoned? How about the other parts of the forest, those are inhabited, are those not abandoned too?

This building isn't even ugly, it's rather the opposite. It's friggen magnificent.

Why in Asulon would you want it to be gone?

You know I'm serious, or unhappy about something when I don't use the color purple.

Shoot. I just did. omo;;

Bleh, my typing gets all weird and jumbled up when I try to state my feelings about something.

This is why I am not good with this kind of stuff. ._.

EDIT 2:

Actually, I did not. I read through every single post here.

EDIT 3: Let me reword that.

"Actually, I read through ALL the posts, I did not see you say you would not destroy that."

-shrugs-

Must have missed it or misinterperated something.

-rereads-

It's late. I'm sorry. ._.

Now I'm just confused.

Siiigh.

Well before I answer your questions, I have one for you:

Did you even READ the other 500 posts by me? I've said "WE WILL NOT DESTROY IT" far too many times. I'm done restating the reasons for this war claim. I've had enough.

Quite alot of things hold sentimental value to people here. Does that stop them from being warclaimed by Orcs or Renatus or random people looking for a free plot for a town? No, it doesn't stop them. This war claim has been accepted and is in the active warclaims. There is nothing you can do about it now. It's going through. Like the people of Haelun'or were pretty much told (The exact words were never said): Deal with it. I apologize for sounding so rude but it has been said many times by others that you should not get so attached to buildings or cities/small towns.

Tone it down, and stop giving snide remarks from both sides.

What matters is that they believe this is a tactical advantage ICLY. But do note, I think that you guys shouldn't be hellbent on forcing your ways. When the arranged time comes, the witch should meet the soldiers, and tell them to leave. Failing so would result in consequences.

As for the Haelun'or folks, what Ever was talking about is:"At least you guys dont lose your home when the orcs attacked, but I am upset I'm about to lose mine."

Just pointing it out there.

I see a solution to both sides here and I understand both sides. I know that for many it is a place of sentimental value and honestly I find the RP of a potentially real or not evil witch in a tower far more fun than having it empty for the use of a nation. My idea is that the warclaim could be switched to simply take the tunnels and let the witch keep the tower. In RP it seems like it could make sense because without the witch telling people and no meta-gaming many would think it is just the witches area and when the royals are fleeing through them none suspect it.

I worry if this goes through it could lead to ban reports, valuable people quitting, and OOC hate which is really something to be avoided. My suggestion could happen multiple ways such as the soldiers seizing them and cutting off the witches entrance and/or approaching her and demanding them. I have a feeling it is a fair suggestion to both sides which is the ideal outcome. I can not claim to know the witches need or attachment to the tunnels so I do not know Ever's feelings about this.

Finally to mention a final point is that this is just a suggestion to try and resolve this as happily an ending as possible so I would request the reader to really think about it and post your suggestion or add on to this idea in hopes of resolving this unfortunate situation.

Mercury199, you have explained that concept very clearly by you earlier. And skippy, that was uncalled for. This thread is used as discussion, not slaping your opinion on someone's monitor screen.

Although I should think that the witch have something interesting up her sleeve for this. The question is whether the bannermen who arrive will agree to her roleplay, powergaming or not.

I have +1 Mercury199's post, it was ignorant to defame that simple yet effective comment.

As for whether or not the Witch needs a VA, both sides do not need a VA in a War Claim.

The discussion taking place, I feel, is very relevant to the war claim, and the war claim process in general. I find it overly harsh really, uprooting someone from their home, a place they've inhabited since late January. I can only sit back however, and wait for Mogroka's final word.

So instead of flooding this Warclaim with comments (which just inhibits the Warclaim process) you go to the support and feedback forum and suggest some ideas? This is the reason there are separate forums in the first place. This discussion doesn't belong in a Warclaim. Go create a thread in support and feedback and start a real discussion about your feelings on the current rules and guidelines. That's the best way to go about getting something changed. You can disagree with the current rules, but they are the rules. You're just impeding the current process with these back and forth posts. They don't belong in Warclaims, they belong in support and feedback. The rules are the rules, that doesn't mean you can't change them, but you try to change them while following them.

Well, I'll make this short, sweet and simple. It appears that about 5 of you apparently had some hidden love for this godforsaken tower that you never, ever, spoke of. You complain about how it's not fair and it's mean. Well, wake up, nothing is fair. You think Salvus enjoyed being slapped into the Nether by an army comprising of 90% of Asulon? I don't think so. I'll say it again, for the... well 5th time now. We will NOT destroy the tower. Of the five of you pouring your hearts onto this war claim, only 2 of you will really be affected by it changing ownership. The REAL OWNER of this tower doesn't even care enough to come voice their opinion and I have been told that she's been inactive for the past 2 weeks. This tower... This damn tower... Let it go. It will be ours.

I think the thing I am most disappointed is that you feel you are entitled to own this tower. That it's your right to acquire ownership simply because you type out a war claim. That's just sickening.

And again, I pointed this out earlier. You're asking why people are just now coming to defend it? That's because it's never been in danger of being overtaken by some village before. You're asking why people have never defended something that has never been in danger. Let that sink in for a moment.

Now, for your reasoning:

1. You wanted this tower as a watchtower. I pointed out how poor a watchtower in this location would be.

Okay, now you don't want it was a watchtower, but as escape tunnels/barracks.

2. You've seen the basement. It's not that big. It'll hardly function as barracks. And the plot only extends so far, you WILL NOT BE ABLE TO BUILD ANY TUNNELS IF YOUR ACQUIRE THE PLOT.

So you switched up your reasoning once more.

3. Let's kill the witch!

The one that you yourself have been saying doesn't even exist. You've been contradicting yourself this entire thread.

I've pointed out other potential watchtower locations.

Hell, you could even build your tunnels far deeper in the earth.

I don't know, I do know that this tower will not fit anything you're looking for so taking it won't do a damn thing for you.

Also, you ARE destryoing it. No longer will it be the magical tower forever locked. It will be GuardTower #767 for DinkyVillage #23. You may never touch a block but you're destroying the magic and mystery.

And as for Serah never responding, I talked to her last night. She'll have a post in soon. She works an 8-5 job everyday and hardly has time for other activies, let alone LOTC.

Ursolon, chill the chide remarks will you?

Apologies, we just seem to be going in circles. It's quite frustrating.

I said I wanted it to be a watchtower because I didn't want to have people metagaming our plans for the tunnels.

Between the tower's region and the region I have perms to, there is roughly a 25 block gap. Something can be done about this.

I added more RP for our reasoning because Mogroka requested it. If you had read it, you would have noticed that the mob is shouting about legends and stories. Not that they have seen her mending the garden on sunday afternoons. Superstitious peasants combined with ill tidings will cause very drastic actions to be taken.

I've also said that the tower is in a wonderful locations because, should we connect all the tunnels, it will create a square. Linking the tower, the ruins, the Great Hall and the keep in Ursakar ( Which is to become the military barracks ). Someone said "Build it 20 blocks to the left!". Rules state that a region cannot exist within a certain number of blocks of one another. 20 blocks is too close and going 100 blocks out will defeat the purpose of the watchtower aspect ( Again, this doesn't mean sitting atop it waiting for someone to come by. It can serve as a barracks for a few bannermen and be a way to intercept them in the woods, rather than in the town. )
