=The Order’s History=

The Order of the White Rose is anything but old, they do not hold deep roots within Aegis, nor do they start back since the beginning of time. Starting first within Asulon, it had all began from the ideas of a Commander, his brother, and two close friends. An Order that will abide by the rules of the church, all while protecting the sanctity of the Empire and the holiness of the Race of Man. The official Order however, had not formed till much after the idea was first created. This was due in-part of the Renatus’ nobility’s constant rejection of the idea and being able to come to fruition. Thankfully, the Chivay family had come into nobility, finally allowing them the power to create this Order under themselves and allowing the recruitment of a few former friends and allies.

The Orders current holdings include, The Barony of Fort Boot, as well as the Barony of Rivia. Both Baronies are equally as important to the Order, as both hold significant importance to the Order’s beginnings and operating. With many more stories to be told, the Order continues to grow in popularity, as well as military significance.

Finally being based out of the Barony of Rivia, the Order seeks to gain true status within the Holy Oren Empire and is actively seeking recruits that are both well able'ed fighters and healers.

After much time in Rivia the Order of the White Rose began to grow, a few years of experience under their belt, a never ending drive for power, and the need for more than what was currently available drove the Order to their full potential. Further conflict with the Dead Knights began to give a name to the Order of the Rose, now considered much greater fighters than first thought. Now granted another Barony within the Kingdom of Solace, the Order saw fit to build themselves yet another fortress, one they could fight this new found enemy in. However, it was short lived, the Dread Knights seemed to had disappeared and the Order was victorious. Though this did not mark the end of the Order's uncountable conflicts. As with great power, comes great jealousy. And the surrounding lands were filled with grief and the need to find a scapegoat.

Later now down the road, the Roses were finally feeling a true sense of power. Still within the County of Ildon the Roses reigned supreme. No one dared mess with their liege Lord Artorus and they were happy to protect. That was until a tempting offer befell the Grand Master and his council. One that would put the Rose even higher on the food chain, yet remove them from the place that they have come to call home. This being the buying of a land named Ceru, a massive fortress once owned by the very being that the Roses hated, the Elves.

=The Order Tenets=

1. An Order Member must show complete loyalty to the Order and its ideals. Any member who shows disloyalty will receive a swift execution.

2. An Order Member may never take the life of another member. To do so will result in immediate execution.

3. An Order Member may never steal from another member. To do so will result in banishment from the Order, with all possessions stripped.

4. An Order Member must believe wholeheartedly in the true God, and his creation of Horen and the world. Lack of faith within an Order Member will result in banishment from the Order, with all possessions stripped.

5. An Order Member must never use God’s name in vain, or talk of God with ill intentions. To do so will result in banishment, with all possessions stripped.

aa3pP.png

=Religious Devotion=

In addition to this ranking structure, EVERY Order member must attend a private and public mass each Elven Week, or risk exile from the Order and stripped of all possessions formerly owned by the Order Member. A public mass consists of no less than one other Order Member, and must be performed in a chapel or external altar.

[ The order's current chapel is under construction, so this rule is slightly more lenient then it should be, at the moment. Though, we do tend to go to mass just to create more RP. ]

=Ranking Structure of the Order of the White Rose=

-SENIOR COMMAND-

Grand Master

This office is for life, and the Grand Master is in charge of the entire Order, worldwide. A Grand Master may retire, but for the most part, dying was the only way out of the job, as resigning from such a position would be a black stain on their honor.

Master and Commander

The Master and Commander is the local commander in charge of the commandery — a small Order stronghold. He has complete command in the field.

-HIGH COMMAND-

Marshal

The Marshal is in charge of the Order’s main forces during times of war. He is very much a military man, and the Grand Master would usually consult with him before making any final decisions on tactics. The Marshal is a rank that is only held during war, he may be a Knight, Senior Knight, Standard Bearer, Master and Commander, or even the Grand Master himself.

Under-Marshal

The Under-Marshal is in charge of all arms and horses, as well as the secondary commander to the Marshal, and more often is given a smaller task force apart from the main Order force. As well as this, the Under-Marshal is tasked with the logistical duties of keeping a military force equipped and fed. The Under-Marshal is a rank only held in wartime, he may be a Knight, Senior Knight, or Standard Bearer.

Standard Bearer

Also called the Confanonier, the Standard Bearer is in charge of the Footmen. He is their paymaster, their disciplinarian, and the man who checked over their very important work of keeping the knights’ horses and weapons in good order. He doesn’t actually “bear the standard” in battle — he marches in front of the banner and leads his marching column. The Standard Bearer is equal in rank to the Senior Knight.

Senior Knight

The Senior Knight is the advisor to the Master and Commander, as well as the acting captains in both the field and at home. The Senior Knight’s duty is to manage the Order’s lands properly during peacetime, ensuring safe travel and a sufficient amount of food being supplied to the keep and surrounding area. In times of war, the Senior Knights are the inspirational leaders, able to rally Order troops to fight on under insurmountable odds. The Senior Knight is able to appoint a Squire to attend to his personal needs. Similar to that, the a Senior Knight must be knighted officially by the Holy Oren Empire.

Knight

The Knight is the acting lieutenant in the field, able to command over a detachment of Sergeants and Footmen with ease. The Knights are also personal advisors to the Senior Knights, and are able to take on a Squire for the Knight’s own personal needs, like caring for his arms and armor. This Knight must also be a Knight of the Holy Oren Empire, in-order to maintain this rank.

Sergeant

The Sergeant is the grizzled Order soldier, proven time and time again of their dedication and devotion to the Order, by either means of battle or administration. The Sergeants are usually at the center of any Order battle line, and their driving experience is able to inspire Order members all around them, pushing them to extremities. The Sergeant is the last rank a lowborn may achieve. Advancing to Knight rank requires squireship.

-ENLISTED ORDER MEMBERS-

Man-at-arms

The Man-at-arms are the backbone of the Order’s military forces. The Man-at-arms are instructed by the Standard Bearer, making up the main battle line, the Men-at-arms is the rank-and-file soldier of the Order, who follows orders willingly and obediently. The Man-at-arms is to respect every member of the High and Senior Command, and must refuse to contradict their orders in a public setting. If a critique is absolutely necessary, the Man-at-arms may request a private audience.

Footman

The Footman is the lowest form of the Order’s military, and is considered a recruit in the eyes of the Order, and will either be trained by the Standard Bearer, or through a personal apprenticeship with a Men-at-arms or Sergeant. Much like the Men-at-arms, the Footman must obey and respect the High and Senior Command of the Order, and no private audience on critique is to be granted.

-SPECIALIZED RANKS-

Seneschal

The Seneschal is tasked with all matters involving the treasury, and is also expected to lead most civil construction projects, as well as maintaining the lands of the Order however he sees fit.

Medical Assistant

This rank is tasked with performing the medical tasks of the Order, while staying out of direct combat. Similar to that, they will still be close to the battle however, and are expected to be able to handle the horrors of war.

Disciplinary

The Disciplinary is tasked with upholding and maintaining the highest form of discipline within the Enlisted ranks of the Order. They are the prioritized man who will issue most lashings and other disciplinary actions at the consent of a High Command or on his own accord. The Disciplinary is to be well respected within the Enlisted ranks, and will not hesitate to lay down a gauntlet of fear and organization to achieve a rank-and-file professional force.

Quartermaster

The Quartermaster is tasked with the proper maintenance of all miltiary supplies that come with being a battle-hardened Order. The Quartermaster has a level head and an eye for organization, and is the man to see for non-standard weapon or armour requisitions. The Quartermaster will also work closely with the Seneschal of the Order to help keep proper records and avoid confusion.

[[ OOC Note for Order Recruitment: In-order to join the Order, I ask that you send a private message to Velwyn Ashford or Thomas Chivay (On the forums) to let them know that you are interested. After-such, they will ask you a series of questions they feel are necessary, and will tell you if we can take you into the Order at that time. An application may be put up, however I feel that IC recruitment is a much better tool and more realistic.

Areon sends his owl off with a letter in its beak. Headed to the keep the White Roses typically reside in. Flying through the opened gates it flaps its wings for your attention, dropping the letter and promptly headed back to its perch where it may rest once more. Opening the letter ((Anyone may do so.)) you see the mark of the Clerics hastily penned in at the top.

Members of the order of the White Roses. I, Areon Baldwin of the Clergy invite you to accompany me on a journey truly worthy of the oaths you've uptaken. A simple and innocent man has been mutilated and piked before the very gates of Arethor. Marked with runes unlike any of which I am familiar with, at least to a point of understanding. Besides my point I would have your order accompany me and potentially others to investigate this new threat. Cease your tireless squabbles with the ice demons and help me see the source of this new evil. So that we may prepare to face it head on, together. I will be watching. Adeon will know where to find me.

A footman bearing a suit of light chainmaile and pressed tabard hobbles up the vast stairwell of the Rivia keep, stopping up at one of the tower doors. He glances over the polished, wooden doorframe, taking a deep breath as he gains his composure. With a quick balling of the hand and flick of the wrist his creates a faint knocking, speaking out.

"Seneschal, sire?"

A low murmuring emits from the door, the voice slowly picking up.

"Yes, soldier? What is it?"

The footman lets out a sigh of relief, stretching as he gains a more casual disposition.

"A letter for you, sir. May I enter?"

An affirmative uttering slips through the cracks of the door, causing a weak smile to lift across the footman's grizzled visage. He swings the door open, hastily stepping inside. Velwyn Ashford remains seated at his desk, absorbed in his usual mess of paperwork: quartermasters' provisions, financial distribution records and a host of scattered field reports. Without a word the footman slips the letter into Velwyn's open palm, standing at attention as the Seneschal tears the seal off. Velwyn's weary eyes scan the missive, a light sigh escaping his lips upon coming across the composer's name. As he concludes his short reading, he sets his gaze upon the footman, promptly addressing him.

"Footman, send word to Ser Peter and Bladir Toov; tell them that I request a meeting at nearest possible timeframe."

The footman promptly snaps to a salute, briskly walking off to carry out his current task.

- The meeting between the Grand Master, as well as the High commander had commenced. The Cleric had come in soon after, hearing their decision. -

Grand Master Peter slowly raises off his Throne, looking about the room. There stood Ser Thomas, Ser Edmond, Velwyn, as well as Toov. Lifting his gauntlet, he lightly coughs into it to begin his proclamation.

"Officers of the Rose, today we have made a most holy decision. In the Cleric's plight, he had come to the Order seeking assistance, and assistance he shall be given."

After the beginning of the saying, two more members come into the Throne area, Leric and Mathus. Both adorning the fine tabbard of the White Rose. Clearing his throat once more, Peter resumes his proclamation to the whole of the Order.

"Today I pronounce War, on the un-holy beings and Heretics that are currently residing within' Greywise Woods. No longer shall the Heretics of Greywise feed upon the innocent beings of the Duchy, nor on any innocents within' the Empires lands!"

A hint of aggression is found in Peter's voice, as further members of the Order enter into the area. The Grand Master Clenches his Fists, glaring around the hall in which the Order is currently presiding. He resumes his speech;

"In the coming days we will perform the purging of these unholy primitives, axe and sword in hand! The on-lookers will soon know the might of the Rose and what power we truly posses! Though many may not know of these deeds, we will do so anyway. For only one pair of eyes matters, the eyes of God!"

Chants resonate throughout the halls of Rose Hold, the sounds of metal clanking and armor can be heard as far as Ildon. Certainly anyone within, or near the Barony would he the chants of the men. Following his speech, Peter lifts a single gauntlet to the air, a first formed in it's wake. He loudly shouts over the men chanting;

"Fight with me Brothers! God wills it!"

templarmaster.jpg

The crowd soon explodes into chants of, 'God wills it!' the beating of wardrums adorned with musical flutes quickly fill the Barony, as the men prepare a feast, as accustomed before war.

Word reaches Dread Lord Valdius Bile of what has taken place further south, that they come for his Kin soon and his forest. Pondering for a moment of what to do he finally bursts out laughing at the ordeal. The laughter echoes the halls of his band's abode as a chilling metallic sound. It was not until finally that he finished that he finally spoke.

"SO! They finally decided to get off their lazy arses and chase the fox have they?!"

He throws his head back again, laughing at such news.

sitting down apon a stool his voice becomes lower.

"they think they can simply take my forest without so much as a splint of knowledge of where I hide. What are they to do? Put a man every ten metres from one another across the ENTIRE FOREST?" he says getting louder.

"they may claim war... But without a means of which to strike the heart... They are merely going to chase our shadows in the mists..."

*he looks to his brethren nodding whilst saying in an underlinging voice...

"Their God wills that their shall be slaughter?* He says as he lets out a slow bubble of a chuckle with his metallic voice.* "it only seems right then that we apease their God by giving him their heads...".

He continues to look off into the distance before saying

"let them come to us... Our forest is gnarled and pungent to the smell. The mists mask our movements and we know it's roots like any of those "Druids" could ever. Our forest is damp and betrays fire as it betrays their siege weapons. They are an arrow in the dark loosed from a man who has seen too many winters and harvests. Let them come."

He breathes in deeply as he listens to the ambiant silence...

"the sound of decay... It enthrals me ever so much"

Lifting himself from his stool he walks away from the table intent of finding a better place to listen to the music he knows as "decay".

His voice echoes once more in a laudable slur from down the cobble corridor

"let them come"

Captain Toov rests his hands on the railing, and peers down into the quiet, peaceful town of Rivia. The sun is beginning to set on this frozen part of the world, and in the streets, armored men in pairs march slowly, deep into their own personal conversations. Smoke bellows forth from the chimney of the smithy, and the faint "clank" of metal on metal cuts it way through the backdrop of chatter that surrounds the Captain. Despite the backwoods and lazy appearance of the town itself, Rose Hold, the central point, axis as it were, of Rivia is bustling with life.

Toov turns, and peers into the throne room via the large window. Inside, Thomas Chivay rests on his throne, one leg sprawled out and his chin resting on his fist. Despite his lax appearance, his eyes are fixed on the scout before him who is hastily going through his most recent report. In the corner, behind Thomas, Velwyn Ashford stands, leaning against the wall. Through the slits in the helmet, Toov can barely catch the gleam from Ashford's eyes, and smirks, fully aware that Ashford is already planning around the scout's information.

Smirking, the Captain makes his way downstairs, where he finds a cluster of the White Rose soldiers carrying large crates between them. The crates jingle and clank as the men walk by carrying it, and each nods to the hulking figure of Captain Toov as the go by, muttering, "Sir" and the like.

At a nearby table, the two Sergeants have layed out a map, and are busy marking away notes on it with a piece of charcoal. The lines seem to get drawn, erased, and redrawn as the two bicker over the best choice of action. Deciding to let them take the initiative on their own, Toov moves down the steps and into the kitchen, where he slumps into a seat at the small table with a soft grunt. The beautiful and slender dark elf turns from her work at the stove, and smiles warmly, at which point turning back to his work.

Just at it seems he's found a spot to take a break from the chaos that is a keep during wartime, the kitchen door bursts open,

"Captain Toov, sir. Lord Thomas and Master Ashford wish to speak to you."

"Ja, zhank you Morris. I vill tend to it."

"Of course, sir."

Such is life, right?
