*breath's in the morning air* "Time to start clearing land" *start's to place some log's down to try and flatten the land*

*He come's across a dandelion, He then decide's to dig up the dandelion and place it elsewhere*

*Upon finishing digging up the dandelion he notice's that this dandelion is not how it should be, It's lifeless and damp*

*Sanrion rush's home and through's the dandelion on the table and take's a closer inspection. Upon a few hour's of inspecting this he come to an conclusion that this could be the starting of a new plague*

*Write's up a notice to send off to cloud temple to tell people about this*

((I believe your character should find many of them before doing this, flowers whither all the time, and it is nothing strange unless it happens en masse. Now, it does, but your character obviously didn't witness it, at least, not according to your post. Change it up a bit, maybe?))

I to 'ave noticed this! Not only wid' flowers but wid' Melons, Pumpkins, wheat and even Livestock! Somet'ing is goin' on 'ere whatever it is, ah dont like et'.

(( Actually I have encountered this with crop's and a few animal's as well so it would not be the first time my character has come across strange things ))

Edit: Usually when people experience a number of strange thing's they will often jump to a conclusion to answer what has happened. ))
