Hello Dwarves,

I am considering spicing up my RP and making a dwarven female character. Can any of you direct me to a page that explains dwarven female features and behavior? Thanks!

~Prince.

I would've thought they acted like normal dwarves.

I am rather new to dwarf RP, so if I am wrong on anything please correct me.

I know you probably already checked the wiki, but in case you forgot, there you go. As for appearence, just follow the wiki's guidelines for subraces. Mountain dwarfs have reddish hair and paler skin. Cave dwarfs have darker skin and very dark beards and hair. They also have amber or golden colored eyes. Forest dwarfs have brown, "Earth-like" skin. They have shorter beards and longer hair. No women dwarfs I know of (including mine) do not have beards, though do not quote me on that.

As for how they act, it is similar to male dwarfs in most way. Like to drink, fight. are aggressive, etc. Keep in mind, that if you make a female dwarf, you will most likely be in a romance, because of the lack of female dwarfs, and in RP dwarfs are commonly... "pursuing". (For example they have brothels. *Wink*)

That is just a quick thing, again I am rather new to dwarfs, so some stuff might be shaky. If you wanna know more ask a dwarf veteran.

Just be a more or less feminine version of a male dwarf, which mainly means no beard, higher pitched voice (but that doesn't matter since it's typed), and somewhat longer hair. All dwarves drink a lot, fight a lot, and eat a lot. As a dwarf of two months today, I can say these are the basics. Tae o'er par' is tae "accen'" which is pre'y much done loike t'is. If you've already done a dwarf, this is simple. Then the rest is up to you. That's about it, have fun!

I've had two three female Dwarves.

Ingot: Swordmaiden, fighter, tomboy, nice(er) when drunk, would defend her honor/loved ones/family name to the death if she so had to. A very fiery temper that burns for ages. "That mean older sister of yours".

Hapsi: Opposite of Ingot, would not fight, and would never use a weapon, sans an improvised one like a pan or tankard. Soft and flubby. Forgets and forgives quite easily. VERY protective of her ale recipes. "That nice aunt of yours".

Karvia: Little, scared and with a nervous twitch.

Shrug.

To be honest, there's not surprising, very little lore on Dwarven females. As long as you go with the basic Dwarven traits, you can really make her what you like. Some Dwarves are more respectable, noble or honourable than others while some may be more religiously eccentric or greedy. Some have a more fiery temper while others prefer to take a more peaceful or diplomatic approach. Rather than subrace, a Dwarf's personality is largely based off of their clan background, caste and role in society so I'd suggest reading up on some of the clan threads to get a better idea of what I mean there.

In terms of physical appearance, expect them to look something like this. The clothing would be based upon her caste, whether it be noble, commoner or a warrior in the military.

Hair colour, skin colour and build would depend upon clan or subrace so just read up on the ethnicity section here. Cave Dwarves tend to be smaller and have darker hair while Mountain Dwarves are slightly larger and usually have red hair.

Hmm...but...shouldn't Dwarven Females also have to shave. For as Gimli once said.

Gimli: It's true you don't see many dwarf women. And in fact, they are so alike in voice and appearance, that they are often mistaken for dwarf men.

Aragorn: [whispering] It's the beards.

Gimli: And this in turn has given rise to the belief that there are no dwarf women, and that dwarves just spring out of holes in the ground!

[Eowyn laughs]

Gimli: Which is, of course, ridiculous.

Er...isn't that the point of the proof I just made. I do think that Dwarf females can grow beards, if they choose to. :D

Heh, what are you going to do, hold the Dwarf woman down and shave her, yourself? Good luck with that! XD

And besides, if a Dwarf Woman grew a beard, I think that she would be as prone to, if not more, keeping her beard as the men.

I think any woman, even a dwarven woman, would want to upkeep her appearance in an effort to find a mate. I hardly think a male dwarf, or any race, would enjoy looking at a bearded woman.

If I see a woman with a beard, I will get Grimloth and we will gang-shave her.

Just another day for us, the dwarven guardsmen.
