Aye I hate to ask questions like this but considering that we're having an almost endless stream of this problem it would make a lot of sense to allow at least one or two other high level staff the ability to go into command line for restarts.

This is beginning to be an epidemic.

My guess is the culprit are these people called Craftlandia a Brazilian server that are known for ddosing servers until they stop hosting a server because they want to be the #1 server in the world.

If that is true, I'm sure the group of servers they are DDoSing can appeal to the listings page admin and have them removed completely from it. Instead of focusing our efforts "and loads of money" on defending ourselves, perhaps we should seek out the cause of the attacks and stop them some other way.

I doubt that Mojang would approve of such tactics, as they hurt the game in general. It would be easily within there power to revoke usernames from such a server.

Darn. So it looks like we're going to be forum rping for a while then. Yes, Mojang could help, but it would take a few days for them to take action.

But we could always fight back. Backtrack the IP, fly out to where the DDos lives, then have some fun with him. It would be like that scene from The Godfather, except instead of the horse's head that the guy finds, it's his hard drive.
