So I was talking with a few others in TS today and we got onto the subject of dwarven activity. Now I know 3.0 is around the corner and such but what shall we do about this? No one logs on anymore and new players are pushed away. Im working on 3.0 along with a few others but its up to all of us to start bringing the rp back to us. The council positions arnt getting their jobs done, besides a few others. I want to hear your thoughts and opinions on this and any ideas to bring the rp back. I have been logging in more as much as I can, but I want to hear your voice.

Only reason I don't play mt dwarf is because of the inactivity and not usually being able to find anyone to rp with.

It helps a lot to have events often, kind of like what you, TEEbrown, recon_soldier96 and I did with the wolf attack. Small, but fun occurrences like that really make RP fun.

Oh jeeze Hiebe, you know the damn answer. What's the point?

What are we, the dwarves, trying to do as a whole? What is our goal, our mission, our plan. Some people say "We should declare war!". I say that's a load of crap. That doesn't accomplish any big goal. It doesn't solve the big picture. We're not the Orcs, our goal isn't to be war-mongering madmen. What we need is another greater goal. A goal that can put all other nations into misery and despair. You see, we're Dwarves. We can do anything we want in our caves of epic-ness. We could make an 100-foot golem made of thousands of diamonds we have mined. We could amass great riches and have the biggest treasury of all time. We could make the most powerful runes in all existence which could destroy any foe. We're Dwarves, the possibilities are limitless!I say, we get a goal like one of these, and we stick with it. Simple as that.

Anyways, those are my ideas, seems easy enough.

I'm personally used to having 10 members on LotC at a time, so I don't really notice the inactivity. I've had little to no RP, so I've decided I'll just play as Gorum's Ambassador Guard. Hopefully I can get some RP going. I like the Dwarves, but we really need to step up. If we don't, I believe I may move to another race / character. I love you guys, but the RP is dwindling. A lot.

As for suggestions? Council Members, you are the senior members of the Dwarves, so start acting like it. Gorum, you've done well enough making meeting with other nations, and wars. Grimloth, start wargames like I did a while ago. We got 10-17 members to participate, so do it again. Wizard, start making trades with other nations. Tortek, make some amazing forge RP. Doom, create some war machines. Kjell, keep on being badass. Omithiel, get some miners active. Whoever the High Prophet is, start doing magical crap. I don't care guys, but we need active, willing members in those positions.

My suggestion from a non-bias, non-dwarf stance?

Make something to do. Something like an arena where you'll be encouraged to have fun. Or perhaps start some intricate story work behind the scenes and push it forward.

To be fair, half of your time on 3.0 is too much - it has a long time to be finished, you are in no rush unless told otherwise.

Make a big goal, that the Dwarves protect from the other races. Maybe a giant golem of stone that will take years to make, with so many runesmithed runes on it that it's something to be worshipped? Maybe a secret war fleet in a hard-to-find aquatic cave. Make something that'll pull players to the Dwarves.

Marching the Dwarven army around would be cool.

Or build a giant statue somewhere near the Cloud Temple. So big that people could see it from the hills.

From personal experience, ordinary players are driven away from you for a number of reasons:

-too many empty cities with no players

-not enough/expensive housing

-difficulty integrating into a clique

It's fine to do meetings and declaring wars and all that stuff, but to be honest the ordinary player never sees you guys. If people can't find you without TS and OOC communication, there's a problem. Another issue is that the dwarves typically focus on building and huge amounts of resources rather than casual RP. It scares away players who don't want to spend hours mining.

So as constructive criticism, stay in one city and establish a hangout zone where casual RP can be found. Sit in this area, or AFK if you must. Don't rely entirely on TS to communicate as it alienates others, rather discuss your decisions in RP to give citizens a chance to participate. Try to make housing easier to achieve, but don't push new players into selling their souls. Allow players to be citizens without requiring they serve you or provide you with resources. Your future lies in new players so help them as much as you can, rather than charge them taxes like so many cities do nowadays.

And lastly, accept this as constructive criticism. If any of this was offensive or hurt your feelings, I am truly sorry and will edit it accordingly. I do not wish to argue here.

I don't log in anymore because of dwarves who think it's funny to call me fat in-character and out. So stop disrupting rp.

I completely agree. The city, as of me writing this, has 3 people (including me) in it. On a Sunday, that's rather disappointing. The city itself is hidden away and fairly disjointed (although you guys did the best with what you could). This, coupled with the fact that new players have more incentive to travel to others nations only forces inactivity and a lack of players within the city. The city must be fairly easy to find or at least have several guides who will be dedicated and help new Dwarves find there way. The lack of large scale RP events is also another problem. War is great, but what about interactions with the Dwarven gods? Obstacle courses? Hidden tombs? I'm really not one to speak, as I've been inactive and unable to help out with any of this, but I implore you guys to try a bit of it and see what happens. 3.0 will be a way to fix all of these problems, let's not take it lightly.

It good to know how you all feal about the dwarves. And what direction to go to, like always we never had a central point, no general goal. Maybe we as dwarves need to find something that we all could find a purpose in. Not something like claiming the most land or winning the most wars, but something like setting up a stable economie, a tight communtie, make it so everybody has an avtice roll in our race. And i know we all come from a difrent countries so we cant be all on at the same time. But iam sure we will find something

When you leak that a new map is going to be sent out and we are all moving away, we are all going to lose are valuables and restart, people start to think, well, why even bother playing until the new map? It's just a waste of time. Therefore no one logs on due to lack of interest in investing more time into LOTC until the new map hits. Also the prolonged DDoS attacks that shut us down don't help.

Yes to all three. Just yes. Especially a show of our Army or Navy.
