Merkaken 516 Share Posted November 9, 2012 So... Olog-Hai wouldn't be able to do combat? Not even one on one? You don't need to be awful smart to fight... Fight well, yes... But I think it'd be fine if Olog-Hai rp fought just swinging a club or axe around like a madman, not really doing much of anything. An example: The Olog-Hai snarls and roars, his large belly jiggling as he ran towards the Human. Club in hand, he swings it at the human, though the club is large, the Olog-Hai's strength was no match for the speed of the Human. The Human jumped out of the way rather easily, the Olog-Hai once more swinging his club around, aiming for the human in general, but giving no strtagey. As shown, the Olog-Hai has absolutly no possibility of doing complicated or intellegent moves, such as waiting for the Human to attack first. IT simply has one purpose: Kill the damn thing. It's going to try and attack it until it died, or until the Olog-Hai does. There'd be no stratagey, just brute, sluggish, stupid force. I feel if we only allowed Olog-Hai to do siege-damage, it'd kinda screw them over.

Austin 697 Share Posted November 9, 2012 Alright if we do Olog-hai we will rp bog and Dreytus were descended of it. However no one should be RPing above 9 ft. I can smell the but hurt and complaints from miles away
Heero 4092 Share Posted November 9, 2012 In my opinion the sub-races should includ; Goblin - What lore is currently present within the Orcish wiki. Nomadic Orc - Your average Orc. Shaman - A more slender Orc with a higher intellegance but lacking the pyshical abilities of Nomadic Orcs. Gobos - A mistake of a Goblin, mostly product of Whytewash Goblins who left the War Uzg for what ever reason and mated like rabbits. Trolls/Orges - Using the lore present in the Blood Mages/Other approved Troll/Orge lore. Just my input. (Also ignore any grammatical errors. Rushing to type this out in gym class. DX)

I feel if we only allowed Olog-Hai to do siege-damage, it'd kinda screw them over. I don't think you understand what I meant. An Olog isn't patient enough to learn the finer aspects of fighting. They don't parry or counter attack, they just swing dumbly and hit hard, but not intelligently. Thus, a regular Orc can often best a dumb Olog, unless the Orc's legs are impaired and the Orc loses its ability to move and dodge. It's a toss-up, depending on the terrain and enviroment but in general, Olog's have a disadvantage because the brute strength begins to have diminishing results and the lack of brain development doesn't help either. Lago 2572 Share Posted November 9, 2012 Uruk-Hai still sounds directly ripped, and Uruk-Hai alone is what most of the playerbase will see. I'm still against adding -Hai. Saying 'orc' rather than 'orc-folk' isn't changing the entire language system. Gobo, Uruk, Ogre/Olog/Orog. As for the brutes, they'd be clever and more coordinated than golems, and we've seen the damage they can do.
Shar'ku/jenspelao 410 Share Posted November 9, 2012 In my opinion we should have: Uruk Goblin Ogre......Olog-hai is taken from LoTR, the olog-hai's are the armored trolls that sauron used
Lago 2572 Share Posted November 9, 2012 Uruk's LotR too. Blawharag made a post on the origins on the LotC orcish language and how a lot of it is from LotR. While I believe every effort should be made to avoid obviously using LotR names (Uruk-Hai, Olog-Hai), removing all of it, as Blaw said, would involve rewriting orc speak from scratch. Cracker 4570 Share Posted November 9, 2012 Uruk Gobbo Orog My vote for the three. Have Orog's native to 3.0? I like Lago's definition of them, they are much like golems but sentient and smarter (but not by much).
Archbower 14 Share Posted November 9, 2012 Just a question that comes to mind, where does this leave the lankier, skinny members of the race? Tok, Drog and the majority of the Bahr fit the physical description of the old Shaman sub-race. Would we use just Uruk and say it encompasses the majority of Orc somatotypes? Either way I'd love the addition/re-addition of a tall, skinny sub-race which could encompass the more dexterous Orcs (could include some shamans, archers, craftorcs and other less populated professions)rather than the general bulky ones.
