Orcish Subraces Final thread!

Just a question that comes to mind, where does this leave the lankier, skinny members of the race? Tok, Drog and the majority of the Bahr fit the physical description of the old Shaman sub-race. Would we use just Uruk and say it encompasses the majority of Orc somatotypes?

Either way I'd love the addition/re-addition of a tall, skinny sub-race which could encompass the more dexterous Orcs (could include some shamans, archers, craftorcs and other less populated professions)rather than the general bulky ones.

Shamanism isn't a race, it's like a religion. However other then that good ideas

As how Arch mentioned the old Shaman sub-race is what I was refering to Austin.

But onto Arch's post, I second it. It could branch off into crafts related RP compared to bulky warmoggers bashing rocks to make cude and sketchy weapons and tools.

There was no shaman subrace.Shamans are not weaker then any other ork and any kind of ork can be a shaman

However the bigger stupider ones would obviously struggle more, so yeah typically a "Leaner" orc would seek to learn the arts of Shamanism over the Art of War

I remember a few of us brainstorming some racial traits or whatever for ogres, one of them was that they were only able to feel three emotions, Happy, Angry/Bloodlust, and Hungry.

Anyways I think we should kinda divide the sub-races up based on clans. Obviously an orc from any clan can be like any other sub-race, this is just where I'd expect to find most of them.

  • Urukz (Gorkils & Ugluks since Ugluk was a son of Gorkil) - Generic Orcs Here, some can be fatter or just larger then other uruks. 9 ft Max, 7.5 ft Min.
  • Gajutar (Lurs) - More of a hunter kind of uruk, a bit smaller and more agile. 8.5 ft Max 7 ft Min.
  • Gobos - You know the drill. 6 ft Max 4 ft Min.
  • Olog - Ogres and shizzle, I think we should make 'em around 11 ft Max and 9 ft Min.

Not realy.Orks like Mogroka,Ned Lud and Zogtar are shamans and are all realy huge.Maybe a weak ork would try to be a shaman because he can't be a warrior but if he realy is a weak ork he would be dead along time.It doesnt matter if your big or small you can be a shaman.A big stupid ork would have trouble learning it but he could still do it.

So it is settled on Orogs?

I like Fishys Idea

feel three emotions, Happy, Angry/Bloodlust, and Hungry

So if people would not like to go on more details about Orogs?

Although I would like a sub-race that is more lean like Plain-striders

Goblins should be the lean ones. They are still strong, even if they are goblins. People can play half-breeds and mixed breeds if they wish to be the sleek, thinner orc IMO.

Ogres will not be a subrace someone can apply to play as off the get-go. It'll be very selective too players that are seemed fit to not powergame, etc.

Why? That's ridiculous. There is no need to toss in an application for Olog-hai. You are big, you are strong, you are slow, you are stupid. If you start fighting with the skills of an Orc, I will personally drop a powergaming report down on you, and you will receive disciplinary action. We do not need an application for a subrace. I really don't see this becoming a widespread problem where people roll Olog and start rolfstomp-powergaming their way to glory. If it does become a widespread problem, then let's consider an app or something. Otherwise, no.

Honestly being an ogre isn't that special to deserve their own app.

Would it be possible to assist in said lore?

Yes, i'd be interested in assisting as well.

I was thinking about how Orogs would use MPM, and it occured to me that many orcs already use the max size. While asking Noppes for some larger sizes shouldn't be too difficult, it made it occur to me that Orogs are going to have trouble getting around. The current orcs and golems can barely get through single doors, the orogs just won't fit. How big are the Orogs going to be?

They need to be significantly bigger than orcs, but the bigger they are, the fewer places they'll fit into. Are they going to be much bigger than uruks, or a small increase in size over current orcs and then make the uruks smaller?
