Fengric 68 Share Posted January 6, 2013 Whatever gives the team enough time to bring us 3.0 What I would like to see though is one island named "Amare" which is the Latin word for Love. It could be a very romantic looking island, and provide some interesting couple RP, which we all know happens quite often. I don't care if you do anything pre-built on it if you do end up doing it, just as long as it's there, named Amare Isle, and looks very romantic :3 Thanks for any consideration - Fengric
ΩMercenΩ 67 Share Posted January 6, 2013 But it does affect the landscape, which I can only assume is part of the reason people are dissatisfied with this world and want to be given all their dreams it a neat little package and will complain that Santa didn't bring them what they wanted regardless. I am content to roleplay my skills and limitations, but here is the secret Alan: There are players on LOTC who are shitty at roleplay. You can't get rid of them, but you have to limit their shitty-ness. Where is this even coming from? This is a topic regarding the 2.5 map, don't go about insulting other's roleplay, and stay on topic.
SkyyoBee 249 Share Posted January 6, 2013 A majority rules kind of thing, I like the idea. Some people may be upset if they don't move to the island and we end up keeping it and leaving the other one, because everyone else will be settled and they will be without a home or many possessions. That being said, it is a good way to move without leaving all of our progress behind, if there is easy travel between the two islands, people could transport all their items over easily (this will prevent quite a bit of arguing and anger.) leave me alone 995 Share Posted January 6, 2013 If we do make a new island, please make it so we can't build more than tents or small shacks, because I mean, we are here to get resources not to settle it and everyone is building bloody mansions and crap.
Stag 3229 Share Posted January 6, 2013 Make it so the stone on the next island is harder than obsidian. Which would make building mansions impossible > : D While players would still be able to acquire some cobble from the previous island. Or just make the islands out of materials not including cobble, iron, coal. Basically make mining a huge pain in the next island to deter strip mines
Stag 3229 Share Posted January 6, 2013 -snip- ((double post)) :( Edit: Instead of focusing on mob danger, focus on the scarcity of basic needs.

I agree, I would really like to see a large camp of people living in tents. Perhaps having a firing going in the middle! Cozy. :)
The Cleaning Crew 571 Share Posted January 6, 2013 I like the compromise. But if everyone moves to the new island, don't get rid of the old one. Instead, organize an event in which the monsters (zombies and stuff) that are supposed to be all over the current island swarm all the cities and finally drive us out. Then, brave adventurers and whatnot could venture back to the island, where the spawn rate has been restored to what it was originally, to retrieve supplies. Perhaps you could do what Kitten suggested and make it impossible to mine past a shallow depth on the new island without an iron pickaxe, so you need to go back to the old one for it. And of course, there would be bandits settled on the old island as well.
Lirinya 4021 Share Posted January 6, 2013 Seems like they can't win. Give people regions to limit building, they complain. Give them an open world where they can do anything, they complain. And even now, with a suggestion from a GM which would give you the best of both worlds almost, people will still never be 100% happy. Just give them a bit of everything, and hopefully you'll have given them enough options.
Wizard 125 Share Posted January 6, 2013 You've said it Liri. The player-base on Lord of the Craft now seems destined to discontent. I really have no clue why. We are even lucky the server is running at all with how many developers have stepped down. Everyone should just be grateful of how the server is doing! The staff is working their hardest, yet we continue to show disrespect and disdain for their work.
Lirinya 4021 Share Posted January 6, 2013 I did have a long winded response but secure key screwed me over and my browser crashed. Tl;dr Don;t give people a choice on how the map is. Feedback is one thing but RP should adapt regardless of the situation.

TylerIsBored 31 Share Posted January 6, 2013 Voted Other. Wasn't this island originally for "collecting resources"? I like the idea of having to choose only an inventory full of items to take, aka "What we can carry with us" rather than allowing people to take their chests full of cobblestone and random crap with them to built giant disgusting settlements on the next island. There's a possibility that the fast travel will be one-way, although that is not a guarantee.
TylerIsBored 31 Share Posted January 6, 2013 There's a possibility that the fast travel will be one-way, although that is not a guarantee. I would say that is the best option. Two way would just make it too easy. We aren't supposed to be able to haul our entire possession over.
