The Second Ultimatum.

Crums belonging to the fruity bread of a Halfling baker scatter onto Bircalin's lap as he indulges in his mischevious snack. He could hear the bickering from his perch outside of the gates, alongside the horn that echoed with no answer. Swaying his legs in his idle state, he tidily chews on the bread, keeping his ghostly white eyes glued between the gatehouse and the path that leads to it.

"A hundred years and they still have learned nothing. Trust it to be my wife to get rebelled against too!"

His words are but a personal comfort atop his expansive oak tree, intended for none, heard by none.

The crowd grows increasingly larger, choking the small streets as an increasing number of people turn out to listen to the heated debate, and give their own opinion. One, however, seems to be satisfied only with listening. And he is much more than satisfied. His piercing eyes gaze not only at Rhazev, who raises the fighting spirit of the people with both his firebrand speech and with the letter now clutched in his hand, but at his opponents, as they too shout their contentions to the expanding mob. His cold stare also darts around at others in the crowd. They murmured among themselves, and their support swayed from one side to the other with each outpouring of harsh rhetoric. The figure turned, silently treading out of the packed crowd, making his way slowly but surely to a place less populated. He had learned all he needed to know.

His heavy brows were furrowed on his bald head, creased with concentration and foreboding as he exited the square through a side alley, leaving unnoticed and unseen. The human marveled at the foolish ways of the elves. He was in slight disbelief at what he had heard; the elves gave away information far too freely! In Oren, he would have had to fight and coax to get but a sliver of the talk that was exchanged so openly in the "Malin-blessed" lands. He spat as he turned onto another small street, which was made dark by the oppressive shadows of one of the looming trees that dotted the city. The Emperor, bless his immortal soul and praise his works, was guided by the Creator. They were the only two divine beings, the man knew; the degradation of the Mali kingdom attested to the fact that the elven religion was nothing short of false and heretical paganism.

Yet the elves and their friends had made the bald man's job so much easier, and he had them to thank for that. An uprising would be held soon, and his lord would surely be pleased to learn of the current situation. The political unrest in Malinor was ripe for exploitation. The magnitude of the corruption they could sow was the only unknown factor. But the bald man felt confident as he exited the city.

For gaining the upper hand was what the he did best.

The gentle fog of Bircalin's eyes sways unnaturally as he looks to the bald Human leaving through the gate with a wry smile.

He briskly sweeps the remaining crumbs from his chest as he finishes his luxurious rations before smacking his lips together to sap the taste contently. "I wonder what Humans think of these debates... So long it has been since I held such a mindset. Nevertheless, a hundred to two hundred years from now, every current living Human, elder or newborn, will be dead. The small-talk should be over by then..."

Finally realising his self-directed rant had gone on too long, Bircalin hunkers back into the cushioned leaves of the tree comfortably, flicking up his hood to deflect any light directed to his eyes so he may fall into an idle slumber.

*The Elder Kaun looks among the and sighs, he shakes his head and begins to speak.*       "You wish to begin a war with Malinor by using the other races? And you think by doing this you will save it? Let me quote a message from the 'Book of the Elder's'. In the book it says, "When one war begins, there will be two to face in the end. One for vengeance on the one lost, another for the same reason as the first. War begins an infinite number of more." If you believe that the Humans, Dwarves, and Orcs will stop once they enter Malinor, you are dangerously wrong. They will not stop, they will continue until all is gone. Nothing will be left when they leave. If you wish to remove the councils then I suggest going to them and asking for change or begin a public petition to revoke the government to begin a change. Think things through before you begin to act, if you wish to survive as long as I have, then that is ho to do it."   *He turns and begins to walk away, he leans on the ancient Staff of The Elder's as he goes, the ancient wood creaks and groans as it moves.*

Serva remains in the square, listening to the elf's ranting. As it comes to a close, he examines his faves for a moment. The ones that verified him as Sentinel of the Sentinels. He closes his eyes and shakes his head, seeming almost slightly amused by the elf. Hardly moving otherwise, his deep voice carries his own message clear across the square, joining with the chorus of complaint and support.

"This is a fools move, Mali. You speak of all this as if it solely the fault of the higher ups. What your side of this argues is that it is them and the people should go against them, for what is a council without its people. However, this is true. The High Council has always even this way, yet now you complain when we are at our most vulnerable. So, what is keeping you from destroying Malinor? That seems a legitimate and to your goals. Mary in three armies when we are already under threat of war that we would lose, destroy our hierchy, as well as remove the commanding military officer from power when he has done his job quite well.

Additionally, is this really the time? No doubt changes are needed, but right now? We are not strong now, and it's people like you who carry the blame. People who don't listen to reason and rush brashly into this. Show me a problem that isn't traced back to people who want everything provided for them like you. Or is it simply that you are power hungry, and wish to sieze the throne while it is easiest? To put it simply, you are a moron, Mali. A disgrace to the great Malin himself. You are so blind to the world around you that you fail to recognize what's going on before resolving that blade is needed.

And what about afterwards? Malinor will be even weaker than it is now! What stopping Oren, the Bortu, or the Kharajyr from taking the land of the Mali? In addition, you seem to include no room for negotiation. A sword that is too brittle breaks after a single stroke. A blade must be flexible if it is to accomplish its task. You are blinded by some lust for power or greed, as is apparent by the little need to pay to the fact that this is a tyrants path, and will reach a tyrants end: another rebellion. So, you can buckle down and make do with what is good enough, or you can strive to 'better' things by making them worse. Tell me, where does this fit into your plan?"

Serva leaves his statement hanging in the air, with an expectant look at the speaker, waiting for another idiotic outburst.

((OOC below))

While this is only my personal opinion as I see it to be true, this may not be what you meant to mean. But you are effectively trying to turn Malinor into a republic which isn't going to work at ALL. The number one reason: at your 'vote' it will be nothing but an OOC popularity contest, rather than who can lead us best. Understand? It's a great concept, but it just isn't going to work like that. I simply wish for you to be aware of this while you lead your rebellion.

Elindor interrupts

"Ignore this one (serva). Clearly he has not been living in Malinor or he would not be so delusional."

Seeing as this is a fair chorus of voices, Serva is not stopped from speaking his mind. Serva moves his gaze now to Elindor, with a accusingly questioning look on his face

Delusional? It is your kind that must be delusional, for you fail to see past your own decisions to the consequences that wil follow. What in the world does marching three nations on your own motherland accomplish? It saddens me to see 'Mali' who would put the land of Malins children so easily at risk for not having a perfect life. Can you not think of anything that you have? Have you been arrested, is this lance in your chest? No. You have access to food, Malin, which CAN be exchanged for Minas, if you can see far enough to find it. One must be fairly delusional, or simply ignorant to not see such a thing. Did I say there are no improvements to be made? No, I argued that this 'Mali' is going the destroy his kin in the fire of war!

Elindor begins to laugh.

"So short sighted and defensive. You make a perfect Sentinel." His tone changes "You know nothing about me nor my position on this matter. What's more you have no right to speak against me, lest I turn you into a writhing sewer rat."

*Nienna walks up to the crowd, her hands still bloody from a recent surgery. Looking through the crowd, she espies Ebs.*

"Ebs? Ah, there you are."

*Nienna makes her way over to Ebs, accidentally bumping a few people in the crowd with her crimson-soaked hands.*

"I've been looking all over for you."

A dark elf sits leaning against the tree listening to all the points being made. He slowly stands up and walks closer to the crowd. Dressed in a blood red longcoat with black pants and black shirt. He maneuvers his way through the crowd while spotting several people he recognizes. He then crosses his arms, with his clawed gauntlet on top.

Oh Rhazev how it is amusing to meet your acquaintance again. Come to think of it last time I saw you, you were Flay, and were trying to rob some antiquities from Blundermore in the Cloud Temple of Asulon. So you say you have the best intentions of Malinor in heart, when most of the time you had been a member of the Flay, a house of Oren. So I ask what does house Blackmont gain from you coming here claiming you do this for peace and the betterment of the nation? I ask this mainly since the entrance of your elven friend there, who also had ties, if not was a Flay himself. As well as surely you cannot truly believe that if the nations did march against Malinor, they would easily just hand it over to you and the people.

Even a child could see that once the other nations armies were inside the walls, it would be life after life being cast away. As well the nations would more then likely fight for control and supremacy. So you giving the city to the people would be a complete fallacy as you would trade the council for warriors that care not for the land, the people, or the traditions. Nations do not march to oust a group and then leave unconditionally, each army would have their own set of wants and demands. Thus you may just be enslaving the people of Malinor, instead of, “saving it” as you put it.

What you are offering is not peace. Nor is the transition you speak of in any way less than occupation and slavery for all the elves in the land. Whether it be the High Elves in their stone city, or the Dark Elves of DarkHaven. Every elf in the forests of Malinor is put at risk with such an action. Whereas each elf outside of Malinor would no longer have a place for them to go to escape the racism many people have had as of late.

Back to what you had originally started with. You seek to oust a council, one that some of the members have worked hard to come out of the shadow that was Bravepaw’s High Council. Now mind you I do not defend Bravepaw, as he and I have never seen eye to eye. Mainly after myself and a group I was associated with removed them from the town of Malrug, which he had owned. But I will defend the High Council that sits now as most are decent people. Now mind you I only had personal experience between two members of the High Council before I had been brought in. Now to address an issue not brought up by you.

It is not corruption, or being friends with the High Council that gets you elected on. As I said, I only knew two of them... One from her time in Holm, mind you I had never actually talked to her then, but she was a friend of the mother of my daughter. And the other, from times long past In which I myself thought he was dead to be honest, even then we weren’t even friends, more like acquaintances.  I just wanted to clear that up since we have a crowd here.

But I ask you this, how would a new council do better where you claim the current has failed? How would newly appointed High Council members react to the issues you had placed on the table? What would make them different? From all my years that I have lived I have learned elections cause more strife than it fixes. It splits the citizens up and makes everything a popularity contest. I would rather have things done efficiently than watch the people tear at each other than to sit there and waste time while they do so. In the time for people to get liked, get the popular view, many issues have already arrived and thus get dropped onto them all at once.

Issues that could have been efficiently worked over and done already, before they take their place. Issues that if they were not dealt with promptly could have spelled disaster. Mind you such issues these newly elected officials may truly not even be qualified, or know how to handle the situation at that immediate time. But I ask as well, if these council positions were elected.. How would they be better, and would they have a time frame that they are on the council. I am curious to how it is your mind is truly working at this, or if you had even began to think it out before hand at all.

Now you bring up the issue with the Malins... This is an issue on many elven minds, I will not argue that at all or even try to say it’s not. But I ask, what is stopping you from perhaps trading with people from the other nations to acquire minas. If you own a shop, sell your wares in Malins to the citizens of Malinor, and perhaps Minas to the non citizens. Now before you even think I am saying this because I have plenty of Malins of my own, know that I possess zero Malin’s at all. Sure people have an issue with the Malins, but as well as nobody has brought a way to compromise and make things work. This is solely to my knowledge, and if it has I apologize for being wrong.

Urasept turns his head as he looks at Ebs.

Now Ebs, you say that the council wreaks destruction. This is no truer statement if you were talking about when Indelwehn was the High Princess, and got kidnapped every elven day. Or when her regime misconstrued things and let her allies pull her into things she had no reason to be apart of in the first place. Quite frankly Ebs I used to have respect for you. Since the times of Laurelin. But with some of the things you had said here this night has made any respect for you to diminish.

You bring up the sentinels and how they have mistreated, sorry you used the words abused people. Why is it you just now speak of it, instead of taking it to their commander, or even higher than that. Instead you sit and let it fester while you did nothing.

Now you bring up democracy as well.. So let me ask you this. Once the official gets “elected” what roles do they play? Do the people of malinor actually have a say in things? I guarantee you that Malinor would be in worst shape under that policy.

Looks back to Rhazev.

Now alas I will get back to the point that you had made about the Dark Elves and High Elves leaving. They left on their own accord, they were not pushed out. And mind you they chose to go, so why lure them to someplace they will only not want to be? Sure it would be for the betterment of Malinor to have each kin together as a whole. But ideology supersedes the wants of those kin. The High Elves enjoy their city, as they are free from the prying eyes of people who may do them harm. And the Dark Elves are trying to recover what they have felt they had lost. So if they are happy and content why make them come back into some place they dont want to be...?

"Urasept, you who so rarely graces Malinor with your presence, have no right to accuse me of doing nothing. While I was on the Lower Council, I did everything I could to stop the Sentinels. What would you have me do when the Sentinel Commander himself is tearing down people's notes on the board? In the past years, you have done nothing for Malinor, not put in an ounce of work, not a minute of time, and yet you are granted the noble title of Prince. It is pathetic. Whether you are deserving or not, I cannot bring myself to trust you, as well as most on the High Council. I have done everything I can short of violence, and I have been drained of all my energy by your foolishness. I am sure you do not have what is best for Malinor at heart, for you have not spent enough time here to know what Malinor even is. What will happen will happen, things have been set in motion larger than you or I, larger than Malinor or Oren. There is a storm coming, you had best ne careful your head does not end up on a pike."

I was never a Flay, and I don't have any interest in "antiques". I believe you'll find that I was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time when those two red bandana'd fiends arrived, and I left promptly after they did as to save myself from harm. Of course other nations have wants a demands, and these demands will be met by myself. What I am suggesting is that the council step down. I do not wish for them to throw themselves off a cliff, and what I am suggesting a peaceful approach, backed up by a violent one.

You speak of a popularity vote happening, but that has happened now. You are a popular Elf, and they have merely used you as a pawn to seek a way out of this current predicament. It is already a popularity vote, though it is a popularity vote that only the council are in on. You want things done efficiently, we need a new council. Oren and the Dwarves wish to march on Malinor because of their mistakes and inability to control their own men.

Compromise on the Malins? Just get rid of them. They've always been a poor idea and they always will be. It makes us entirely dependant on the council and stops us from trading with the outside world. You say to just trade them for Minas, but who would want to? Our wares can be found elsewhere, and we aren't even liked by the two biggest nations.

The Dark Elves were pushed out as they disliked the current happenings of Malinor and the High Council, as said by a citizen of their town themselves. They wish to start a new, yes, but why could they not start anew with a new council's help?
