She sprints down the long, twisted road of Arethor, tears
clouding her eyes as she almost belches up the contents of her stomach. She
pauses and leans against a nearby wall, sinking to the ground as she stares to
her left realising she is in the place where she last saw him, seeing Jason the
way he had been back then, wishing she could take it all back.

She continues to stare, trapped in her own reality as she
opens her mouth to speak, attempting to force the words she should have said
back then. She stands abruptly, compelling her trembling stick-like legs to
march in his direction as she reaches an arm out, trying to pull him to her.

He turns, noticing her, she smiles weakly with hope, but he
turns and starts to run. She follows, her scrawny legs barely pushing her as he
runs farther and farther away. She tumbles to the ground, knocking her head on
a nearby rock.

She blinks rapidly, opening her eyes and finding herself
behind Jason, the place where they used to go many, many years ago. She reaches
out once again, attempting to touch him and when he turns abruptly, she notices
deep sadness in his eyes. She looks over her shoulder and sees herself, a much
stronger, happier version of herself, and she hears herself apologising. Jason
turns back to her, his rose uniform pressed proudly to his body as he asks her if
it is Taron.

Kiara shakes her head, moaning softly at her previous self,
disapproving. She is sucked away from this memory and taken to another place,
outside the Geminine manor. She sits beside the girl she used to be, staring through
the window of the house as she watches Taron laugh and play with her own
daughter. She turns to her left, seeing herself crying, clinging to the wall of
the house helplessly. Even now she can feel that pain, the pain of loss. She
closes her eyes and pulls away, letting her walls drop down to shield her from
the suffering.

She runs, her legs stronger- like they used to be. She
arrives at a house, her house. The one Jason built for her, although now she
feels like she isn’t controlling herself, or that she doesn’t have any control
at that current moment. She turns her head, seeing both Jason and Jacob leaning
against the walls, both smiling, welcoming her into their arms. Much to her
horror, she is forced to pull out a small hatchet, obviously made for fighting.
With the expertise she never knew, she pulls it back and swings it at Jacob,
watching it soar through the air and slam into him, sending him flying towards
the ground. She sees Artemis run to him from the corner of her eye, but is not
allowed to look, instead she pulls out a long, thin steel sword and holds it up
to the light, watching it glint. She throws it at Jason, the tip piercing into
his heart.

She flinches awake, assuring herself that this last image
could not possibly be her, she did not have that kind of expertise. Snapping
back into reality, she twists her body, her dress now stained with dirt and
grass. She looks down at herself and lets out a grunt, having no energy for
anything more. She begins to realise that it was her fault, that she had ruined
herself and there was no going back. She pulls out a sheet of paper and scribbles
two sentences onto it.

‘I love you J.

I love you Eve.’

She then tucks the paper into her pocket and leans back,
letting out a low sob as she whispers her final words

“Take me now, forget my life, but remember those I love.”

She closes her eyes and sucks in her final breath, content
that she will now be able to return to her past, return to Jason, Artemis,
Jacob, Taron and Eve.

Jason strolls through Arethor, adorning his new knightly tabard. He gazes to the path that he last saw Kiara, a sudden sadness overtaking him. Squinting, he eyes a figure lying upon the ground. Jogging towards it, he falls to his knees as a chill runs up his spine. He runs a hand through her extensive, black hair, eyeing her now, pale complexion, with a miserable expression planted on his face. Jason closes his eyes, memories of their encounters flowing through his mind.

As he squeezes her hand, he notices the note tucked into her pocket. Extracting it with his free hand, he scans over it. Wincing, he stores the note, hoisting the body onto his arms and carrying her over to the Rose Fort.
