A Definition For The Intelligent Elf

 Share

Recommended Posts

A note is pinned to the notice-board of Malinor. It reads:

Mali of Malinor,

Do note that the definition of mali'aheral is blessed elf. If one is not striving to be mali'thill and therefore attempting to be a pure high elf, they are not mali'aheral. One may define themselves as a high elf or mali'tahu in this regrettable case. For the impure to refer to themselves as mali'aheral is simply a mistake of the under-educated and perhaps inferior masses.

Emberhard smiles, chuckling under his breath slightly as he reads it, turning to anyone who might be listening he grins speaking with hints of sarcasm.

"Well if we are tampering with words and deffinitions, while we are at it I personaly think 'aheral' should now mean somthing along the lines of 'inflated bigot'...hhmm...though perhaps I am being sardonic...unless of course that was changed as well...."

Another note is posted below. It says,

"Irrelevant. The poster is obviously not a founding member of Haelun'or nor a true Mali'Aheral."

Orion nods as he reads the note, straightening his robe slightly.

"Indeed. The impure are unworthy of sharing even our blessed names..."

Elorna's eyebrow raises slowly as she reads, and she lets out a short, amused sigh. With a soft chuckle and a shake of her head, she says, "Well, I wonder which of them wrote this...." After taking out her writing supplies from her satchel, she leaves a small note beside the others, which reads:

"Only the Mali'tahu of Haelun'or make distinctions between 'pure' and 'impure'. Outside of Lin'evaral these definitions hold no meaning."

Stepping away from the note, Elorna mutters to herself, "Mali'tahu... it sounds ridiculous. I would think Mali'ibar, or Mali'ayal would better describe them. Or Mali'mahnih. Mali'cihitalareh... Mali'llene... hmm... this could be fun."

Hiylu shakes her head and sighs.

"The only impure ones are the Mali'aheral themselves. Their hearts can never be pure if they can't learn to accept everyone else..."

Avern'len finally passes over the poster, sighing softly as he reaches for it. However, he decides better than to rip it down. Rather, he takes a blank page from his songbook, and pins it over top of the parchment posted originally.

An intelligent Mali would not push away their lost kin. Embrace and nurture those who have become lost in their wanderings of the world. Educate them on how they can make themselves fitting of your 'blessed' name. Your actions only sew the seeds of spite and malice. Their blood will forever be their blood. No name can change that.

Looks to the poster and chuckles lightly under his breath. Khel taps it once with his knuckle, directing his brother's attention to the note.

"The only good faere, is a dead feare"

Amarath nods silently "After their betrayal I care not much for those 'Faere's" He takes one of his many throwing knives and slices his hand and throws it right to the center of the letter letting the blood drip down it.

Eyebrow begins to twitch seeing the mess his brother has made and the strange, random way he has made the mess. Khel looks to his left and right quickly, ensuring no one saw his brother's antics. He extends his ,right, tattooed arm upwards and rips the bloody  poster off the notice board and tosses it onto the ground.

"They are not worthy of the blood of an Oussana to even be spiled on their paper."

The Bird Druid shakes his head upon seeing the note.

"Mali should strive to stay together, to forget our differences and look at each other as equals! Oh well, it's mali'aheral after all, what else would anyone expect..."

Upon seeing a bloody mess of a crumpled piece of paper on the ground, the simple minded Ivar would pick it up. Without even giving it a read, thinking it to be a discarded bandage, would walk to the Smithery beside the, now empty, shop. Frowning, he would toss the note into the fire that blazed beside the anvil before turning and continuing down the path, none the wiser.
