[Resolved] Player View Cutoff

**Apologies if this is the incorrect location for this post**

I've noticed that after walking over 50 blocks away from another player, you can no longer see them. You cannot get them back in your view until you return to about 44 blocks away. If this is a feature then my question would be why? Our characters must not have such terrible vision that when an individual is more than 50 meters away they simply disappear. (Despite the fact that structures remain perfectly clear)

I can understand the logic behind a certain limit, but fifty blocks is far too short. If it is a bug, then crush it, because bugs are alltogether quite disagreeable.

This has been brought up before in the past, I can't find the thread, but I remember that this is a config option, that is said to reduce lag. I'm not sure if it can be raised or lowered, but that is simply my input on things.

Thank you for your input, I tried adjusting my settings (I do use optifine) but I cannot find a setting that changes the distance at which you view players. I've asked a couple friends and they too had this issue, so I assumed it was something to do with the server.

It is, I meant the fact that it was in the server config file :P, sorry if I was unclear. But basically the only remedy for this, would be for Teli or Dgco to mess around with the settings some.

If that is the case, I think it'd be worth the messing.

As I've brought up in the past, this view distance destroys multi level forts. An example of this is the Dwarven owned Storm's Crossing, I cannot see people who are at ground level from where our trebuchets are, creating a huge problem.

I'm asking Telinir as we speak. Official verdict to be expected soon...

Telinir is offline; I'll add it to the formal bug list and notify him about it as soon as possible.

Don't Worry, ScuffDeff, the bug has been sent to our Coder. :)

I have brought up this issue before with Telanir; he has told me it really helps to reduce lag by not rendering the players from so far away. It will probably not be changed, as this has been on forever (to my knowledge).

I believe Terafir's statement answers your question rather well. It is an intentional mechanic designed to reduce server lag, and not a glitch/bug, or any such. If you would like to request and explain any sort of change regarding it, feel free to start a thread detailing your suggestions in the Ideas subforum found HERE. If there's anything else you had questions about, or any other issues that are apparent to you, let me know here, or otherwise, please add a [Resolved] tag to the title of the thread and I'll get it moved as soon as I can. Thank you for your cooperation!

Well, I'm going to go ahead and move this along, as several people have verified with the Tech Team the cause of this issue. If you have any other questions, or would like this thread re-opened for any reason, you can send me a PM on the forums or contact me in-game and I'll get back to you as soon as I'm available. Thank you for your concern! Locking and moving.
