Alan 1815 Author Share Posted June 4, 2013 Have you ever thought about having different sections to each mine and opening an closing them at different times? That way the mine feels a bit different at different times. I have indeed thought of this! Granted, what crossed my mind wasn't the exact same, but the idea of adding onto the current mines with expanded sections did occur, and perhaps they may be open or closed at different times as well. However, the current mines will not be expanded at all until the rest of the base mines are done and released, including the Nation mines.
Nefarious Aus Shitpost 891 Share Posted June 4, 2013 Use disguised piston doors connected to long redstone clocks to open and close differing sections of mines. It could lead to a potentially disorienting and confusing experience which I think would be amazing.

It would be a great way to make them more dynamic. I will pm you shortly with an idea I have for a mine.
Ned Lud 1260 Share Posted June 7, 2013 I feel that the parkour nature of the mine is unnecessary and disrupts both role-play and the mining profession in a way that is not fun for the average player. One fall results in near-instant death and there is no way to improvise a bridge due to permissions. It just doesn't make sense that you would blindly leap several chasms before first attempting to build a small bridge across. Miners should have fair and safe access to their workplace, same as any other profession. The ores should respawn much faster and be readily available for any miner that needs them. To balance the faster respawn rates, the ores should have a lower drop percentage and ore production should thus be controlled through the consumption of resources. If you control the amount of materials and tools required to mine and you control the drop percentage rates, you can easily control how much ore you're releasing into the server. This would be a much more effective way to manage the ore flow and it would also create more work for blacksmiths, as there would be a higher demand for picks and pick repairs. I would also like to suggest that you implement, within the mines, some form of flint mining that requires a shovel. This would create a much better way to harvest flint than placing gravel blogs and then digging them up again and again, directly benefitting the work of fletchers. It also enhances the overall mining role-play by giving shovels a tangible purpose. Miners would now have a reason to take both a pick and a shovel to work with them and actively use both, within the mine.
Miquill 188 Share Posted June 9, 2013 It was quite fun to explore but I thought it was rather small. I explored everything, even the Easter egg and I managed to jump down near the lava and I found no ores at all, not even coal. So I think it should be bigger and more ores. Perhaps shorter spawn times?
Nefarious Aus Shitpost 891 Share Posted June 9, 2013 There should be a few coal ores dispersed around in there too.
Mish_ 101 Share Posted June 9, 2013 Mo' Iron, Mo' Danger, Lo' Wait Time, In all I think Danger, and Adventure is what I want to see, me, and a group of 7 people went inside, and found squat. The times are a bit large EDIT: Add Gravel Areas, with maybe a plugin where if you step on the gravel, you fall! I would loves this, maybe with stone! Ice also, like in mountains. thewhiteknights(rarethorn) 27 Share Posted June 19, 2013 I don't like it I get all my coal and stuff and then one small jump gone wrong and I loose everything even when I get over I loose my iron when I fall in...
Bucky_24 132 Share Posted June 19, 2013 Now that the system has changed and the respawn rate has increased, I hope that the next mine will have more iron! And nothing makes a guy want to ragequit more than spending, and I am not joking, four hours straight mining, getting about 10-15 ores, then dying due to some stupid skeleton shooting you into lava! xirishpridex 3 Share Posted June 20, 2013 My thoughts. First of all, I'd like to thank everyone who worked on this project, It looks fantastic and does the job (kinda). If i'm honest, I do not like how you guys have done it. There are obvious problems such as 14/20 iron ingots every 14 hours?. I know you want to keep a stable economy and what not however, it just does not fit the cut. Secondly, the danger aspect is realistic although, I die almost every time I get to the first little lava parkour. Maybe it's just that i'm a noob or maybe it's the raw amount of mobs? (around 5 skeletons and zombies). I personally believe that it would be better to have some mobs role played?. Instead of classic vanilla mc mobs, you could create lore on another type of cave dwelling monster. I've seen some new lore for new monsters and I have to say, they are all quite unique and could bring a lot of roleplay opportunities to the mines and to the server. Thirdly, Personally, I do not like the mine or the current mining system. I feel that it is well.. not worth your time to venture forth to find all of the iron has been mined. I know you have plans to change the mining system and iron spawn but I think it would be a lot better if iron only spawned in the wilds and only lets say.. 20 iron per chunk and make it only spawn below certain levels as not to disrupt any kind of structures. I feel that this would be most effective. Pros 1: Offers good roleplay. (From bandits to hiring mercenaries) 2: A great adventure. (A nice trip) 3: A chance of getting iron. (A little reward) Cons 1: Too dangerous (Too many mobs) 2: Not worth your time. (Not rewarding enough) 3: Can be annoying. (Dying...) 4: Confusing. (If you are new, hard to find) 5: Abuse. (People logging in at the Iron spawns after waiting the rather long, 14 hours.) This is all I can think of at the moment but as you can see, the Cons out-weigh the Pros. Aetosion 2062 Share Posted June 20, 2013 I think that there should be two or three more rooms with iron in them. With a server that usually has 140 or so people online, having only one spot where one person can mine iron is extremely limiting. And somewhat seperately, would it be possible to instead add iron mines near the borders of contested territory between Uruguan and Oren? That way there can be skirmishes over control of the resources, which would make the war awesomely realistic.
Maletone Blazebeard (Aqua) 130 Share Posted June 20, 2013 As stated: lava and such are an annoyance and the iron is very low you get about 2 ingots worth per cycle because of all the: not big enough, infection etc
Phog 150 Share Posted June 21, 2013 I think the droprate needs to be raised for iron. In the past I have mined out the entire room without getting a single drop. EDIT: After furthur "investigating" it seems to me that the current droprate for iron is somewhere around 16-20% and to me it just seems far too low, especialy given that there are only 9 possible blocks.
