Definitions

In your own words define the following terms. Do not take any definitions from elsewhere!:

Role-playing: Role-playing to me means taking on the role of a fictional or historical character and then telling a story (either visually or through text) of their travels and decisions.
Meta-gaming: Meta-gaming is the use of outside (OOC) knowledge to supplement your character's in-game (IC) knowledge in order to avoid obstacles or challenges in-game, or make decisions that advance your characters interests, which your character would not make if just given their IC knowledge. Meta-gaming brings down RP and makes it unrealistic and unenjoyable.

Power-emoting: Power-emoting means to force people to accept the results of your emotes (which are often unfair) without consulting their own or allowing them to emote their own defence.

In-Character Information:
Complete the following biography on your character:

Full Name: Charles Redwing
Current Age: 24
Sub-race (if any): Northerner
Past / History (include childhood, major-events, etc. 2+ paragraphs long):

Almost thirty years past, in the towering cliff-city of Solace, a small baby was born. With a tuft of brown hair covering a distinguished face, the small baby was a curious soul who was always watching everything. His mother and father, a pair of writers and historians, named Sarah and Edward, adored their child and always worked their hardest to provide him with as many opportunities as possible.

Charles was a smart little child, and the influence of his tow scholarly parents made him a quick learner. He began walking and talking at age 11 months, and reading and writing at around 3. He was fast growing into a handsome boy, with clear blue eyes and a slim build. His parents taught him all they knew, putting a vast knowledge of history, politics and general understanding of the world into his little mind, and he put it to good use.

From a young age, Charles could be seen with his nose buried in a book, never happier than when he was reading of some long-ago battle or forgotten King. He would often travel through the city to find new books, going to various merchants and charming them into giving him any books they had. Through this experience with merchants, as well as his knowledge of history, he also became quite skilled with the way of the word, able to convince people (except his parents, who were always wise to his ways) of any argument he cared to propagate.

Finally, at age 14, he came under the attention of Solace's Grand Librarian. After a lengthy discussion with his parents, the Grand Librarian took in Charles, allowing his full run of the Solace library, and teaching him all that he knew.  Added to the knowledge gained from his parents, this knowledge made Charles one of the most knowledgeable children to be found.

Charles spent ten years studying at the library, coming to know it and it's contents extremely well. However upon his tenth year, he moved out and left to see his parents once more. Although he had remained in regular contact, he hadn't seen them for a year or so before-hand, so a large celebration occurred as a home-coming for him. Charles was happy there, and so he stayed on at his parents, assisting them in their work as historians, and beginning to write a few books of his own. However after a few years, his natural curiosity got the better of him, and he decided to leave to see the world, as well as advance his budding career as a historian, and increase his knowledge of the world around him. He remains in regular contact with his parents by letter, and intends to visit them regularly whenever he is near Solace.

Ambitions for the Future: Charles wishes to become a well-respected historian in his own right. He also likes the idea of beginning a book collection, in order to gain more knowledge of the world around him, something he is devoted to.
Personality: Charles is very friendly, and is always quite happy to help people. He is very charming, and often puts this trait to good use when confronted by merchants, or even better, pretty girls.
Skills: Charles has an extremely in-depth knowledge of the history of the world, as well as it's politics and various cultures. As well as this he has the skill to charm and deceive people into doing what he wants.
Appearance (this must include an in-game screenshot of your skin): Charles is of a slim build, with light brown hair and pale blue eyes. He looks quite distinguished, and loves to wear good clothes, usually to be seen in a waistcoat and long pants.

Open-Response-Questions
Each question in this section must be answered with a minimum of one paragraph which must describe the event in full. Please be as descriptive as possible and do not break character or lore at any point.
____

1. Whilst in the mighty human capital you notice a dark-clothed figure stealthily making his way towards the Emperors palace - he is clearly up to no good. There are guards within shouting distance - what do you do?

Answer:

Charles furrows his brow as he sees the dark-clothed figure making his way toward the palace, however he does not shout straight away. Instead, he makes his way quietly over to one of the guards and notifies him of this intruder, making it easier for them to surprise the man and take him away. After doing this, he follows the guards and the now captured man to the guard barracks, where he gives a detailed report of what happened, and charms his way into getting a reward for his services. Satisfied at the weighty purse of gold in his pocket, he smiles and continues on his way.

2. Whilst wandering in the deep oak forest you come across a large clearing, in which sits a small cobbled cottage. Outside it stands an unstable old man armed with a small iron blade, surrounded by two heavily armed bandits - they appear to be threatening him. You are armed with leather armour and an iron longsword, how do you react?

Answer:

Charles frowns as he watches the situation unfolding, however keeps his distance from it, continuing on down the road. He is simply taking the sword to a friend of his, and has no idea how to wield it. Because of this, he reasons that it would be stupid to risk a fight with the obviously better equipped and stronger bandits. He quickly reaches a guard outpost further in the forest however, and alerts them to the trouble in the clearing. After alerting the guardsmen, he continues in his travels, satisfied that he has done the right thing.

3. You are standing within the mighty human capital when you notice a small man standing behind a colourful stall. You approach the stall and notice that the man is selling a variety of general goods - he says that he is selling just about anything and that he has no set prices. He is willing to allow you to haggle and choose prices. What do you do? (Explain: your haggling, items of choice and the discussion that happens).

Answer:

Charles grins as he sees that the man is selling almost anything and everything. He quickly makes his way over to the stall and smiles in a friendly manner to the merchant.

"Hello there, I don't suppose you have any books or parchments do you?"

Charles grin widens as the man quickly pulls out a massive pile of books, placing them on the stall's table. He extends a hand and runs it along the covers of the books, reading their titles. Looking up, he nods to the man and smiles.

"Good, good. How much will you charge for the lot?"

Stunned by the man's response, Charles chuckles and shakes his head.

"Do not mistake me for a fool, I would like to have these books sure, however such a price is unreasonable, as well as being above my simple means. I would pay, 30 gold coins, no more, no less."

After this a series of offer are made by both Charles and the merchant, and eventually they come to a conclusion at 50 gold coins for the lot. Charles quickly scoops them up and balances them in one hand, while paying the merchant with the other. Grinning happily, he wanders off, careful not to let any of the books spill or tip off the pile.
