[Support] Why Do People Feel The Need To Ftb?

Not here to support either of the sides, but considering the last topic was locked I'm pretty sure the staff was hinting for you to leave it instead of fueling the fire.

All FTB is, is a escape for passionate rp. That is literally all. 

 

It isn't needed. The server isn't "Needed". Combat rp isn't "Needed". Torturing people, breaking fingers, cutting people's heads off, swindling purses, singing songs, farming, cooking, leading a nation. Hell none of these things are needed on the server. At all. 

 

I don't really care if it is removed or not, I'm just simply saying that FTB is /not/ needed, because nothing is really needed. It is just another way to connect with your character more.

Haha, well I'm not an expert, but I'll take a crack at it;

 

As we know, most of the player-base of LotC are Teenagers. Considering the time many spend here [ Not saying it's bad ] they most likely have a close connection with speaking to others over the internet. So, we have Teens in their "prime" and Internet pleasure readily available. That's like opening the world's largest Cookie Jar to a small child!

 

Why do I personally? I feel it is RP that you [ Usually ] can feel relatively safe in without worrying about having to "/damage 20" afterwards. It also helps players connect with each other [ Bad pun ] on a more personal level. I've personally never felt true feelings towards someone OOCly that I have FTB'd with or even married!

I think it's all on the character. Or the person behind it at the least. Some people feel the need to FTB, others don't. I don't think this can be answered, in all honesty, as it is more of a personal thing than anything else. The answer, considering one is given, will vary between people.

 

What does FTB mean?

FTB means Fade to Black, which is how we have intimate RP on the server.

Some people use FTB to further roleplay in the fact that there is a possibility for children, others because ftb would be natural for their couple characters....Others....Well let's not get into that. I've only FTB'd a few times on LOTC, and its mostly ended up in children...

 

 

As for the people that FTB constantly? I'm not sure. It's a bit creepy. I'd rather not try to dive into the psyche of that.
