Finally, Pvp Is Default

Well, greetings ladies and men,

 

As the title says, we've made a decision on the way we're going to be dealing with combat on the server. This has been a decision that has most definitely taken a ridiculously long amount of time to make, and for that, I truly do apologise - however, I'm glad that I can finally say that we've eventually come to a verdict.

 

From this point onwards, combat is now - as it used to be - PVP default*.

 

*So, yep, PVP is now default. However: if you are going to enter into combat with a magic user, the combat does then default to roleplay fighting. It will remain like that until Nexus arrives and Magic Users have equal ability in PVP - however, until then, you must ensure that you roleplay fight if in combat with a magic user (unless there are more than 4 players involved -- then default to PVP).

 

I'm sure there's going to be a mixture of reactions from this, including people screaming at their computers (or Macs) and others cheering and wooping all about it. To the former - if you don't agree with the decision, please, give it a chance to be tested and see how things go before complaining and ranting about it. We're putting our trust into you guys to actually do things properly, because quite frankly, we feel that's the best way to run the server.

 

I suppose now would likely be a good time to explain why we've decided to go on with the decision being this. Initially, many of us were wary from returning to a PVP-default system simply because had fears it'd result in things going awfully and the roleplay of the server going downhill. Since then however, the legitimate arguments for PVP-defualt have emerged and I think that many people have changed their decision on the matter.

 

With Nexus' upcoming release, we would be introducing PVP-default anyway due to the features of it, however, honestly, what's the need in waiting that long? The server worked well with the system in the past, and I'm sure it will now.


So, yep - PVP-default unless against magic users. If you remain against the idea of PVP-default then, please, allow us to give it a chance before trying to behead us for such an 'atrocious decision'. If combat goes into the dumps because of it, we'll change it back -- otherwise, and I'm sure we have, we'll have made the right decision.

 

In addition to this however, I suppose it is worth me noting here acknowledgement to the recent thread about VA-removal. We've seen it, and it is being discussed between the VAT, GM and Admin teams. We'll make sure we don't take as long as we did with this to come to a decision on that.

P.S. The Dwarves managed to beat us at the GM village. Hmph.

 

Just to Clarify: If both (/all) players want to RP fight, then that's fine. If you's cant agree, it's PVP.

 

You must roleplay before fighting, and inform the other player that you're about to PVP (giving them chance to read and respond) - you can't just attack them!

remember: ban reports based on quality and amount of roleplay.

 

be nice out there, and I hope to see more/better roleplay with this change!

I would just like to ask what happens if you're roleplaying, and then the other character gets pissed off with you, and hits you.Does this mean he can engage you in PVP without even letting you know, and then kill you before you respond to him?

What about Ghosts and Oozes, something that needs to be rp'ed because they can't be killed by swords

 

I'm sure that a player will be happy to RP fight when it come down to cases such as that.

For god's sake no, you just defeated the purpose of the vote we had before, which may I remind the staff that more people wanted rp then pvp? You've just gone against the community on this one.
