Medi'ir

Upon the notice board of Lin'evaral a note has been framed in a glass case for all to see:

Medi'ir

It is upon this karim that Azorella Coulissante has relinquished her position as Medi'ir. It is therefore the mali'aheral shall hold an election to replace her. Declare candidacy and make your political speeches mali'aheral.

Down within the Eternal library of Haelun'or, tucked away in the corner of the main hall, a small, non-nondescript wooden desk stands. Your mali'aheral curiosity, incapable of being torn away, drives you to investigate this relative oddity. Within moments, you are pouring over the papers. Strangely, only one appears to have writing upon it. Gazing upon its simple, black script, you read it as thus--

The Medi'ir Election

Those of this blessed cihi are advised that the next election for the task of high leadership is now, once more, upon you. Choose with the clarity of Larihei's wisdom, and fault shall remain elusive.

Those who wish to become candidates within the cihi must step forth now and make themselves known to the general populace. It is in the interest of both Haelun'or, elcihi and the individual to observe these candidates. Those who refrain shall lack understanding and though your vote should be stripped from your person for your disdain of knowledge, your right to represent yourself shall not be removed.

Diligence in the face of ignorance.

The Candidates

Kalameet makes his intentions known, he speaks softly and calmly. Very little to be read from his emotionless face.

"I Kalameet, recent to the Mali'aheral’s cihi’leyu, bring myself forward to become a candidate to become Medi'ir. Upon my acceptance, I swear to aid, and protect the Mali'aheral. I swear to drive respect into any filthy Valah who seeks to speak ill of us, who dares to speak as if they are anything but our lessers. I will sew the threads of alliances, to help aid in the preservation of our grand cihi, and do whatever is required to have the Mali'aheral further grow, and thrive. I, Kalameet, Mali'thill of Haelun'or, so swear to hold our knowledge, health, and purity above all else. May I be given the chance to share my knowledge with the Mali'thill of Haelun'or."

"Maehr'sae, hiylun okarae'erih'ehya lye kaean'leh thilln"

Kalameet posts his poster, in case anyone missed his speech.

Silvos finds his way onto the square, gathering the attention of the mali'aheral around him, then starts to speak.

"Already time for this again? Such a shame... Oh well.

I, Silvos'Laurir Sythaerin, nominate myself for
the position of Medi'ir once again."

He speaks with a low, clear voice, as he takes out a small note.

"Now, do not fear. I am not one to be banished, nor am I supposed to be. I was accused of working against the maehr'sae hiylun'ehya years ago by now, and this was only said by our beloved Sohaer Kalenz Uradir himself.

Kalenz Uradir, who then continued to say behind my back I didn't understand the term Sohaer. That I didn't know what it stood for. But the Sohaer was wrong. As Sohaer, he literally is supposed to be leader by teaching. Yet I've found myself with more life experience, and more knowledge than the Sohaer himself. Does this not render him useless to me? Am I to be forced to respect someone because they claim to be teaching me something? I think not. You might call me insane, you might call me unstable. I can agree to certain aspects of that. But knowledge is something I do have. And knowledge is what I wish to share. May I note that I haven't had an outburts in years, far before I was banished. During the last elections, I have explained my past. I have explained why I am fitted for this position, and why I think I’ll be able to improve. Allow me, to once again, give a quick summary.

Silvos looks around, narrowing his eyes.

“I’ve lived within the city since mid-Asulon, after having manipulated an entire clan of bortu. I was able to

lead the nation of Alras, and turn it for the better. For it became worth so
much, elvalah came begging to buy it from me. By then, I’d discovered
Haelun’or, and I decided I would not want to live with the filth the valah represent anymore. So I sold it, and moved. The money is no longer in my possession.

Here is where I commence my listing of the subjects I find important, and the things
I shall put effort into if I were to become Medi'iran. Firstly, I'd support the
construction of the final buildings our city is still missing, namely the ones
Delonna has mentioned. I would also put greater effort into further
constructing the labyrinth below us, so it my finally serve our city the
protection and evacuation possibilities it deserves. Secondly, I would work on
improving the laboratory. After having finished building by the original
blueprints, I soon found there was not enough space for all mali'aheral to
study their desired arts. Since then, I have already expanded it, and I intend
to keep doing this until every mali'aheral willing to study has enough space to
do it. Thirdly, I would work towards enhancing our race's knowledge on the
arcane arts. In a bright future, I see every mali'thill successfully practising
an art of arcane magic. Not only to protect ourselves from war, but also to
make our lives easier. Together, we can achieve these goals.

That, is why I, once again desire to be Medi'iran. That, is also why

in my suliian I deserve to be Medi'iran. So I can not only serve, but lead this
bright city, to an even brighter future.

Maehr'sae hiylun'ehya. For wisdom and health do not only go together, they are required for one another."

Next to all of Kalameet's posters, there are now very similar ones posted.

Beneath Silvos' posters an elf seems to have meticulously copied a message. It glows red, visible day and night:

Individuals noted as pariah find themselves in direct violation of the tir itself and may not run for Medi'ir.

Talias walks into the library. He looks over his
election speech one last time, before reading it aloud to all who had gathered.

“I, Talias El'siol, shall be running for the position
of Medi'ir.  Thus, I take it upon myself
to bring order to our economic state, the resources at our disposal, and
serving kae’leh Mali’aheral. “

“If I am elected as your Medi'ir, the ideas of the
public will be taken into account. Lin'evaral is a cihi of Mali'thill, meaning
every Mali'thill deserves a say on what happens within our blessed walls.”

“Some things that are needed for the betterment of the
mali'thill are already showing. These things will be corrected as soon as your
new Medi’ir is instated:

  • The erection of a wall around the winery and lumberyard. No longer will we have
production halted due to the madness of bandits and scavengers.

  • In this area we will also construct a lower district for the few outsiders
willing to cohabitate peacefully and in accordance of their heritage. This
so that we may get them out of elcihi’oem, and closer to their new
    workplaces.

  • A proper storage will also be constructed, so that we may easier keep stock
of elcihi’leh recourses. This storage is to be overseen by the Medi'ir.
Written declarations shall account for any stock taken, to index and
    assess the flux of resources.

  • Many other affairs of various magnitudes will be placed into motion. For all
this I will continuously be receptive to maehr nae’onn, Mali’thill.

Once he is done, he leaves his speach for the ones who were not there to read.

Dyonne waits patiently to hear the other candidates before coming forward and saying:

"I, Dyonne Alusa, declare my candidacy for the position of medi'ir. I wish nothing more than for our cihi to enjoy the spread of knowledge of which recent disorganization has deprived us. Much like Mr El'siol, I wish to hear from every resident of Lin'evaral on what issues they believe to be most pressing. However, I will expect them to be willing to give of themselves in return. It is my determination to keep an accurate record of how each of our people's abilities can be put to better use so that the great Mali'aheral race can progress more expediently.

"Firstly, we should not be constantly lacking in materials and we should have enough so that our residents do not feel in want, but can enjoy the fullest comfort that being Mali'aheral earns them. It has also come to my attention that many important positions of service have not been cared for diligently. Should citizens feel the same, I will be sure to work with these people so that they can be present to tend to the needs of elcihi more readily. Assuring the library is reopened and staffed will be one of my first matters of attention, followed by the protection of our precious winery. Some of the most disturbing issues I have seen aside from these are the lack of knowledge of elven in our city as well as the rarity of certain viable skills among our people. Once a catalog of abilities possessed by our people has been made, it will be my endeavor to ensure that as many Mali'aheral as possible are adept in necessary skills, magics, and linguistics.

"Even without any position whatsoever, I have made it a point to know as much as possible of Lin'evaral's workings. If I am elected, my constant vigilance will pay off, for I will finally be able to act in behalf the greater good of our people. Maehr'sae Hiylun'ehya."

Once she is done speaking, Dyonne carefully writes down what she said and places what she wrote near Talias' speech for all to see.

Silvos returns to the city, walks up to the poster on the tree near the gate, and starts shivering. He lifts his hands to the poster, and aura starts forming itself around the poster. It now glows a weak cyan, and Kalenz' red text appears to have disappeared. A small note has been written underneath.

"It's fairly abusive that you're defiling posters. There is no such rule in place."

Navus'Lorundil Vincere reads upon his well written speech over one last time, before he walks out of the eternal library and starts reading in a elegant, but dominant tone to the gathered people.

"

I, Navus'Lorundil Vincere. Had sworn to protect our superior race since the old land! Since the loss of Asulon, we have rebuild as no other, we are as superior as no other! Yet today, the vile lesser races turn their arms, and slaughter eachother at sight. Now, the fools with their petty souls aim on us! We saw them! furnaces of dark elfs breaking in to rob, green beasts harming our brethren! And if that is not enough, they try to involve us in their corrupt spiral of what they call politics!

I say no more Mali's! Let us show our true power, our true form! Let us be the example, of how a race should be! I promise you, on my hearth and honor, that when I become Medi'ir. We will become a self sustaining race! No longer we must buy, and spend our wealth on corrupted vendors and greedy shops. When I become Medi'ir our military and welfare will be the best ever seen! We will dominate, conquer! I am here today, because I can't be there for you today. But if I get to be Medi'ir, if we all open our eyes and see the lessers attempting to overthrow our perfect state, we will be better then before!  We must realise that, we deserve better, we can do better. And so we shall! Vote for me and I promise you all, that our welfare will be better! That the superiors with authority can help you right away!

Imagine streets with larger houses, our precious children going to the best school. Imagine food from our farms, lumber from our own industry. Imagne the best military there to protect you, to have respect among all of Anthos. If the lessers won't give it, we will take it. No longer we will bow and remain less, then we actually can be!

When Navus'Lorundil finished his intense and tiring speech, he lets his campaigners spread small pieces of parchment with the exact plans of the possible new Medi'ir

I. Better housing quality and welfare

due better use of incomes and free education.

II. New academy of Doctorship and magic.

III. Disciplined and elite tactic military training.

with more generals, soldiers and infiltrators.

IIII. Diplomatic superiority over the lessers through embassies

and outreach programs.

II/II. All businesses of high elven origin will be set

with goverment requirements to provide better

quality.

II/II I. The goverment will take over or found several new economical companies to provide top quality essential products for its people.
