A selection from Ed Cook the human's journal.

I recently took a trip to the elven kingdom of Malinor. I had heard it was a lush and beautiful place. I thought I would study some books at the library, discover some new things, and buy some elven goods for my journeys. Boy, was I wrong. At first everything seemed okay. I looked at the gigantic and lush trees and landscape, mined up some iron from the mines near the great city. The shops and parlors looked pretty good overall, and the elves were pretty in-hostile. The books at the library were interesting, but after an hour or so of reading, I needed to go outside and get some fresh air running through me. I went out and took a walk past the library down the more empty alleys and pathways of the city. That is when I saw him.

A man in only a jet black cloak and hood that hid his identity. A dark man, indeed. Every step he took was cautious... he was staring at a sharp fence post a bit off the road. Then, he took out of his bags an elven head. I gasped and turned around behind a tree so he would not see me. The blood was still visible from the wounds, and the head of the elf was scalped. I had heard rumors on the wind about some murderers in Malinor, but I thought it wouldn't be this bad. There were no guards, as the high princess told me later... there weren't enough volunteers and elves valued their freedom and space, which meant no gates or guard towers either. I thought that was silly, considering the elves posting no guards plus the high crime and danger rate of modern Anthos. There must be something besides carrying swords in their bags to take out when something came up that the elves could do, because the elven kingdoms are reaking with murder and dark currently.

But back to the man. I slowly drew my freshly crafted Iron sword, it glinting from the sun that sneaked in beneath the shade of the trees. I turned around and the head was now stuck on the fence post. I almost gagged, but I knew this man wouldn't get away so easy. I turned the corner and charged him, just as he dropped a piece of paper near the sign. He saw me and started to move the other direction. He had clearly counted on not being discovered. I sent a few swipes his way, and I think one hit its mark. He ran soon after. I chased him through the many roads of Malinor, and he ran out the gate, and was gone. I went back to alert the elves. They picked up the head and the note. They sighed and nearly cried and went back to a clearing and had a minute of silence, the elves whispering to each other. I asked what they were going to do, but they didn't know. The problem as spiraling out of control, I could tell. The note said, "sacrifice one elf a week, or a head of an elf shall be found every day." I overhead the princess say this had been going on for a while. I imagined all the poor elves who were ambushed, tortured and killed to make an example out of the citizens of their kingdom.

Malinor used to be a great place, but It has become littered with crime, crimes the freedom and peaceful loving elves are getting overwhelmed by. The conversation was interrupted by a cry for help- two witches were attacking the docks. I sighed, for this only further proved what I have said. Malinor is in a downward spiral, and they need to get it together, or this may mean the fall of a great kingdom. And one more thing before I end this entry in my log depicting events and moments I want to remember and show. There was a name on that note. Just one, simple name...  The Black Scourge.

Aeyrius has killed 10+ criminals throughout his roughly 2 Elven week stay as a volunteer guard, no clairvoyance though, can't handle all of Malinor simultaneously.
