War-Cleric (revamped and redone by Hosper and Lanader):

Basic Understandings:

War-Clerical magic is the other form of holy magic, but clearly much more offensive. Those who learn this subtype must have the patron of Tahariae (following the new Aengudaemon lore by Lago), as no other Aenguls would gift these abilities realistically. Meaning that those who have “The Creator” as a Patron are unable to learn War-Cleric, albeit they can learn Priest Healing and 2 other subtypes of their choice.

Roleplaying Guidelines:

This subtype is roleplayed via the use of a couple of spells. Although some may see these spells as powerful, it is extremely limited. Clerics can not just cast with their free will, and doing so would most likely cause their Patron to stop allowing the War-Cleric to stop drawing power from him/herself. Although I cannot specifically state which situations that they can be used in and which they cannot, you must be smart with this magic and be sure when is the right time to use War-Cleric magic.

War-Cleric Spells:

Aengul’s Light (Tier 1): The caster creates a small glowing orb of light that is extremely lumiscient. It would glow up a dark area, and will follow the user. It will dissipate once exiting a dark area. This spell would only last 3 minutes otherwise.

Light of the Palm (Tier 2): The caster draws fourth light from their palm, as their Patron aids them allowing the user to focus the light upon a target. If successful, a beginner user would daze their opponent. When advancing in tiers, the caster will learn to inflict temporary blindness.

Orb of Light (Tier 3): The user will create an orb within their hand that slowly forms from particles of light, and then enlarging, to around the size of a soccer ball. This orb can be used to propel at an enemy, attempting to knock them backwards for some damage. The orb of light will glow and provide some source of light in the dark. The user can also manipulate this orb of light in to a shield to absorb one attack, but one only. Once hit, the shield will shatter in to multiple shards of light.

Wrath of the Aengul (Tier 4): The caster conjures holy fire by their target, being able to summon it upon evil spirits and “evil beings.” The holy fire is very differential to real world fire, or Arcane Fire Evocation, seeing as it will only burn for a decent amount of time, and does not cover a wide range. As well it will not harm any being that is not truly evil. This isn’t a character that has a VA, it is someone created from evil ex. Anyone their “patron” would deem evil, Antagonists, Liches, Dread Knights, Frost Witches, Cultists that are tainted by their god.

Light Orb Manipulation (Tier 4): This spell allows the War-Cleric more of a mastery over the orbs of light, and now they can manifest the orb in to any sword of offensive or defensive object in very small portions, or only as a quantity of one. For example, they can make a sword, a spear, or an ax/axe etc. Also, they can create a shield of light that can take a few blows before dispersing. It is similar to an Arcane Shield, except the shield will always be made up of light particles and no other color. (They can not manifest the light orb in to anything they want, though, only what is listed.)

Purification (Tier 5): The war-cleric can now heal small bits of corrupted land, whether it be from the Black Scourge, Necromancers, etc.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Red Lines:

  • Not emoting any sign of fatigue, unless a tier 5, (even then if what you're casting is strenuous enough you would need to emote it.) when casting would be considered power gaming, even with the weakest spells. However Tier 4 wouldn’t feel too much but emoting an increased heart rate, sweating, even heavy breaths will do.

  • Those who have “The Creator” as a Patron are unable to learn War-Cleric magic, but they are able to learn Priest Healing and 2 other subtypes of their choice.

  • All War-Clerics must follow Tahariae as a Patron, (following the new Aengudaemon lore.)

A Recommended Progression:

Reaching Tier 2: (2 weeks)

Because you now start a Tier 1, progression is slightly different. As a Cleric or Holy magic user, to first attain your magic, you must be noticed by your Patron. Most people do this by performing good deeds, praying to their patron, meditating, spreading the name of their patron, etc. As you reach the end of Tier 1 you will make your connection to your patron giving you the ability to draw power much like a mage would from the void. At this point the your power is still of little use as you can only control minimal amounts of it. So you are limited to simple spells such as making your palms glow as a light source.

Reaching Tier 3: (2 weeks)

As you progress as a War Cleric it is also different from other forms of magic as to progress you must further your connection with your Patron meaning that you have to continue to follow their will and build upon  your own beliefs. For example the Patron or Purity wished to expel the corruption and evil beings from the land so doing so would be cause for more trust to be put into you. Other common ways of doing this are through meditation and prayer to your patron for extended periods. Once you have this stronger connection you will be granted more power you will need to learn to control it. Since you are connected to such a powerful being one can do severe physical damage to oneself from over exertion. So as you train you will being to work slowly using more and more power as you begin to learn how to handle it without doing any physical damage to yourself. As you do this you will gain the ability to begin to form usable spells and cast them effectively with some physical strain. Spells that you will begin to learn in order would likely be casting flashes of light from your palms and beginning to form orbs of light which can be used to fight.  (See the spell section for details)

Reaching Tier 4: (2 months)

At this point you are able to use the Orb of Light spells, thus having the major aspect of War-Cleric magic. As you already are able to draw power from Tahariae, all that is required is practice with the magic. Eventually towards the end of Tier 3, the Cleric is then able to manipulate the orbs of light into various objects (see the spells section.) Your patron has great trust and faith in you at this point, and has gifted you some abilities, but now it is up to one’s self to practice these powers and become more proficient. You also now gain the ability to both teach and remove those who do not follow Tahariae’s ideals and orders from grace. To do this they need to truly break the goals of Tahariae and go against them.

Reaching Tier 5: (~4 months)

As you reach this stage you are extremely in tune with Tahariae and are now able to commune to gain knowledge and the will of The Patron of purity. At this time you have become a master of wielding the energy that you are granted and have the ability to use the power to its utmost ability.

Roleplaying Examples:

*Arcadius stood there, glaring at his opponent.*

*Arcadius rose his hand upwards, and began to channel his energy. What could be seen are particles of light slowly closing in towards an epicenter, the light drawing in from the surrounding area.*

*The epicenter began to expand, forming an orb of light, almost looking like solid, yellow glass.*

*Arcadius launched the orb towards his opponent, as it propelled towards the foe.*

*The foe is impacted with the orb, as he is knocked backwards as the orbs shatters outwards, rays of light spewing as it broke.*

More to be added, if needed. Comment if you have any questions, or feel free to message myself (Lanader) or Hosper.

First

1+ This guide was needed to clear up confusion upon the War-Cleric subtype. Now confirming that it simply is only Tahariae who can grant such powers.

Great guide, clears a lot up for me.

Seeing as the Creator & Iblees are the only true deities I don't understand where this 'power' comes from. . .

From what I understand the Aengul Tahariae is the patron of the war cleric magic.

-snip-

Tahariea who provides powers to War-Clerics is an Aengul just like Aeriel or Gazardiael (http://wiki.lordofthecraft.net/Aengul). It is of the ancient races that watch over all that the creator has made at his command. Tahariea is known as the Patron of purity and as such uses it's followers as a medium to deal with the "impurities" in the realm such as corruption, tainted souls, ect. So in short an Aengul can grant powers to fill their own purposes that is explained in more detail in Lago's lore. (http://www.lordofthecraft.net/topic/97770-the-aengudaemon-lore/)

Oh, you don't need to be in The Clerical Order. Just a current existing War-Cleric has to connect you to Tahariae (war-cleric wise.)
