Identical Launchers!

So, today I decided to go on a server which is running 1.6.4.  I went to the website, using the link in the launcher, and downloaded the new launcher.  Upon running it, I noticed that it is running 1.6.2 still!  I've attempted everything I can, including messing with McPatcher, but after half an hour still nothing works. 

 

Does anyone else have this problem, and would you have any idea how to fix it?

I don't use any mods aside from McPatcher, if that might do something.

If I am not very wrong, you should click profile, somewhere there is some kind of option menu which leads to selecting which version to use.

I'm trying to UPDATE, not downgrade.  The launchers I'm downloading install the same version.

Once running the launcher, go to the left hand corner, and click on the button labelled 'Edit Profile'. A window should pop up. Three boxes from the bottom should be a box labeled 'Use Version'. Click on it, and scroll right up to the top. There should be a selection of all previous versions, the one at the top being Use Latest Version, and the one below, 1.6.4. Click on either, and play. If that doesn't help, I'm not quite sure what's going on.
