Kiyoko stood at the front of the former containment cells, the blood of her healing ritual remained there, engraved into the floor as an everlasting memory. Her hands that rested beside her gripped onto the cloth she wore tightly. Her jaw tightened as felt something.. Rage. Anger. She's felt such before, but never to such a degree.. "Lat must learn how tu cure someone before cursing them." The thought echoed through her head, the day she casted her first curse - the day she met her first and only true friends. "One day, lat will have tu choose ah path. Tu be a good shomo, or walk the thin path of mortality." Maukurz's lesson continued echoing in her ear.. and it was then she realized - she chose neither. She wasn't good, she was never destined to be good. If she wanted to be a good, friendly shomo, she would've been the pitiful farseer learning in kurai-kunai.. a healer she'd be - but she was the opposite. She wanted revenge. She wanted to make those who hurt her, her friends, lead them to such points - suffer. Despite her Ojiisan Kretz's warning of spirits, despite Maukurz's words of picking one side or the other ... Kiyoko didn't listen. Instead, she chose her own path. She pacted that night with a spirit of pain & suffering.. Durkizum, the lesser of Krathol. In return, she must live with an endless starvation that consumed her, such a feeling mixing with the emptiness she now felt without her only friends.

Linguine was an oddity in the man's life, someone who showed up at arguably some of the worst moments. Their official meeting was no different, in which Linguine watched the man be not only attacked and knocked out in the Haesani wilderness, but then proceeded to rob his pockets as well. From following the man through side-quests and sporadically making guest appearances, it was hard to think it would come to an end. The musin always managed to be in the back of Steven's Alice's mind. He never ended up finding out of the man's death, but if he did - maybe Linguine would wonder. Perhaps wonder if the man got flashbacks to the times they met. If perhaps this very bad moment, his final moment, had triggered him to recall all the earlier times he had suffered with Linguine nearby. And perhaps the Musin made the bad all just a bit more tolerable. Maybe he didn't. It was far too late to ask and find out now.

SUEKICHI - THE FUTURE BLESSING To live of life of Shidai and to die living by it’s ways is an honor. Anyone who truly devouts themselves to Shidai does not fear death, rather embrace what is to come. Those blessed enough get the chance of rebirth into something greater. In the dark hours of the Monastery nestled upon the elevated point of Sakuragakure in her monastery, Mitsue Matsuzaki Shibuya-Manami laid beneath silken sheets in her pagoda, surrounded by the fading scent of incenses she’s created. The air was still, heavy with the presence of something sacred - perhaps something eternal. Shibuya, the first Mitsue of Sakuragakure, had long devoted her life to the divine path, her every prayer, ritual, and act of compassion offered toward the dream of transcendence. It was her belief, firm and unwavering, that with pure devotion and service, her spirit would be reborn as a Kami, a guardian of the village and the shrine she had nurtured from the earth and sky. Her life's work was immeasurable. It was she who took the teachings of Bata and transformed it into Kakuriyo Tsunagari, the ancient practice that bound the spirit world to the living, teaching the Mikos how to walk between the veils of existence and commune with the hidden forces of nature in order to heal, create and communicate with the Kami they pacted with. Under her guidance, the shrine became more than a place of worship—it was a cradle of healing and learning, a sanctuary for orphans and wayward youth. Many who once arrived frightened and hollow-eyed would leave years later bearing warm hearts, steady hands, and the strength of purpose instilled by her teachings. In her final evening, her breath shallow and skin pale as the moon, Shibuya sent for the Shugo, Atsuko, who had since become not just a trusted friend - but her true life companion. She was the Shugo’s favourite woman, and in return - Atsuko was her’s. The Mitsue, ever weak in her words from age and untouched illness, asked Atsuko to stay with her through the night. She feared not death, but loneliness, for the warmth of a kind soul beside her was the only comfort she longed for. In the quiet hours before dawn, within the modest sanctity of her chamber, Shibuya passed away softly, held in Atsuko’s arms in the shared bed beneath the very same silks. And that morning, held in the small arms of TOMASU who she too was devoted too. DAIKYOU - THE GREAT BAD FORTUNE A blessing it is to be reborn, but bad fortune to learn the truth of it. No one speaks of the real ways a Kami is to come, only of how it is classified and the folklore that goes with it. There is a reason only the most determined souls make it to the path of Kami and Yokai, and it is their choice to decide how to proceed. MITSUE Matsuzaki Shibuya-Manami Of the Sakuragakure Shidai Monastery. Born in 1958 during the Year of the Ratiki in Mainlands, Died in 2040 during the Year of the Pigman in Sakuragakure. Under Shibuya’s Leadership, a total ELEVEN girls and FIVE boys grew up under her guidance within the monastery to be Miko and Kannushi. “Immortality Is not self preservation But lies in action” DAIKICHI - THE GREAT BLESSING Once one accepts the reality of their religion, is when they can move on into something greater - whether is be for better, or for worse. It takes time, but once embraced one will be given the ability that more people of the past hold that current. reading and shaping the fortunes within the Omikuji - the sacred slips of fate. Her grand shrine, once a humble place tucked away within her pagoda, has since become the nucleus of a spiritual renaissance for those with the gift of Kakuriyo Tsunagari. In her honor, the Mikos who trained under her guidance, and the Naishoten who once served beside her - now taking her place, constructed grand shrines across the monastery and in dormitories, all in hopes of helping her reach her goal of rebirth. Yet, in accordance with the Shidai way, no funeral rites were held for Mitsue Shibuya. Death, in its finality, is considered a source of impurity in Shidaipractice, and so her passing was met not with mourning, but with reverent silence. The paths she once walked were swept clean, the sacred bells rung, and her shrine left untouched for seven days - an act not of grief, but of sacred respect. Her followers did not cry out or erect monuments of grief. Instead, they continued her work - Replacing the EMA wall, tending to healing the nation, and drawing the Omikuji cards for villagers who still feel her presence guiding their fate. It is said that before her death, Shibuya accepted a truth she had long known but rarely Three years have passed since the departure of Mitsue Shibuya, the shrine maiden whose legacy has only grown in words and memory. In life, she was known for her unwavering devotion to the spirits, her mastery of the traditional and secret rites and knowledge taught only through word of mouth, and most notably, her uncanny gift in spoken aloud. She had seen the strings of fate not only as they were but as they could be, and she had learned to walk among them without fear. She sought nothing but recognition, only the perfection of her spiritual craft - and in that, she succeeded. No longer merely the master of fortune, she has become something greater. From the realm of reverence and whispered prayers, there now arises a new Kami: Matsuzaki, the Kami of Fortune. Her shrines shimmer with the subtle grace of the specter, her voice felt in the wind-chime’s song and the rustling of leaves when pilgrims draw their fortunes. Where once she read fate, now she weaves it. And so, though her body was never enshrined, her spirit never left. Mitsue Shibuya, now a deity in the hearts of her faithful, lives on - not in memory, but in presence. The Monastery now her sanctuary. KICHI - A BLESSING Once one has passed, their belongings typically pass to those who inherit such, either it be friends, lovers or family. What lies amongst the items given may not always be grand, but it is something to cherish nonetheless. A mere blessing. “As my hair grays and and my skin loosens and sags, I know my time is running out. I am no Yosei, I am just a woman who’s life has ran it’s coarse. I have gotten ill recently, nothing magical - a natural illness that comes with age. Though my magic may have kept me in good shape, I have refused to use it to treat me. Kakuriyo Tsunagari is to be used to heal and tend to people - and those who do not follow may faith may use it to cleanse themselves of whatever sickens them. But for the right of Shidai, death should not be avoided if it finds your naturally. Therefore, this was my sign it was time to let go, and such I did.” NEZUKAI, YANO - Daikichi, The Greater Blessing; You shall receive my quarters within the Pagoda, as well the belongings with in. WITNESS ENA: Hai, I wouldn't be Samurai otherwise. PROSECUTION COUNCIL BRAE: do you know this man? WITNESS ENA: Hai PROSECUTION COUNCIL BRAE: now.. tell me, ena, have you ever witnessed a crime committed against this nation? WITNESS ENA: Hai PROSECUTION COUNCIL BRAE: inform the jury of said crime WITNESS ENA: the crime I witnessed were gaining roof hopping and scoping out our homes for loot! PROSECUTION COUNCIL BRAE: yes, yes, quite terrible, really .. awful, now. Question. Would you say that these crimes committed wholly on the free will and accord of those who commit them? WITNESS ENA: in regards to the history? Hai. Their free will. They chose to thieve. PROSECUTION COUNCIL BRAE: heisters, any criminal, really, would you say that people who do evil choose to do so? WITNESS ENA: not necessarily. It depends on crimes and the economic situation surrounding the individual? PROSECUTION COUNCIL BRAE: would you say it would be inappropriate for a jewelry thief to surround himself I'm prized jewels of the shugonate? Would you blame him if he acted upon nature to steal those jewels? WITNESS ENA: hai, I would. PROSECUTION COUNCIL BRAE: no future questions. - THE FOLLOWING IS CROSSED OFF - PROSECUTION COUNCIL BRAE: I call yukiko to the stand. Unless it's their turn again. JUDGE SHUGO: Ichiro, do you have questions for Ena? DEFENDANT COUNCIL ICHIRO: Hai. PROSECUTION COUNCIL BRAE: yes, yes it is their turn.. of course.. I knew that. - DEFENSE NOW QUESTIONS WITNESS #2 - DEFENDANT COUNCIL ICHIRO: Kato-Sama, if the jewelry thief were caught, and places under supervision of the state, who then surround him with jewels, do you think it is the thief or state's fault if he steals the jewels? WITNESS ENA: I believe it is the state's fault. My brother is not a shimin. He's property. If the state takes on the supervision of the thief, he's state's ward. Property. - STRIKED OUT QUESTION - DEFENDANT COUNCIL ICHIRO: and you are aware that your brother or perhaps a thief. Did their best to remove themself from temptation and to follow the Instructions give to them. -CONTINUE- PROSECUTION COUNCIL BRAE: OBJECTION. JUDGE SHUGO: grounds? PROSECUTION COUNCIL BRAE: are they discussing a thief, or Daisuke? If so it is both simultaneously, they should not continue muddying the lines of their argument to distract the jury. JUDGE SHUGO: sustained. Rephrase your question ichiro? Manami, strike that statement. DEFENDANT COUNCIL ICHIRO: okay, are you aware that your brother did his best to avoid temptation and warned others of danger that would soon be present? WITNESS ENA: I believe so. His directions have been minimal, daga he's been told to get away from others when he feels a transformation coming to miniseries threat. DEFENDANT COUNCIL ICHIRO: arigato, no further questions Kato-Sama. - PAUSE, CLARIFICATION SECTION - PROSECUTION COUNCIL BRAE: A moment, your honor shugo, I would like clarification on the rights of property within the state of Koyo-Kuni. To clarify, noy thr rights of one's property, but the rights of property itself. JUDGE SHUGO: very well. Usually in truth, we would not have a trial for property. However, Daisuke is my little brother's son. I offer Uncle O above respite knowing we award Daisuke some extra rights. Furthermore, property is property. Daisuke is basically a sentient bio-weapin. JUDGE SHUGO: Etti, great grandson - apologies. Not son, you humans have babies to fast. Consider him as you would a family heirloom, look like a blessed blade. PROSECUTION COUNCIL BRAE: does property retain the rights of normal citizen in this context, your shugo-ness. JUDGE SHUGO: iie PROSECUTION COUNCIL BRAE: verily. I motion to consider this trial to push towards an instant guilty verdict, for the property has no free-will, and this must be destroyed as fit by state. JUDGE SHUGO: I am Inclined to no objection to that logic I cannot let my feelings get in the way. Ichiro? DEFENDANT COUNCIL ICHIRO: if we are suggesting punishment out of order, we would agree to move forward if the punishment was to be serving of one Daisuke's hands, and shaving his head bald from the chin to the top of his head. DEFENDANT COUNCIL ICHIRO: otherwise, if this deal is not ammendable, we object - Daisuke has additional rights. - TRIAL CONTINUES, WITNESS #3 IS CALLES TO STAND BY PROSECTION - PROSECUTION COUNCIL BRAE: .. your honor shugo-ness. JUDGE SHUGO: Hikari, remove your helmet (hat) - TATSU HIKARI REMOVES HIS HAT, REVEALING A BALD HEAD - PROSECUTION COUNCIL BRAE: nevermind. JUDGE SHUGO: Hikari, step before the court. Quentin, question this one. PROSECUTION COUNCIL BRAE: the prosection called, this man, to the stand. WITNESS HIKARI: Hikari. PROSECUTION COUNCIL BRAE: Hikari, of course! My apologies, my sensors were brought to disarray momentarily.. do you know this man? WITNESS HIKARI: Hai. I know him. But as am acquaintance, best way to describe it. Hai. PROSECUTION COUNCIL BRAE: and, how is it you came to know him under the grasp of evildoing, and being balded. PROSECUTION COUNCIL BRAE: I mean, scalped. WITNESS HIKARI: I was present when he was experimented on, and I saw him first turn into a beast, that's how I recognize his form in cave. - THIS QUESTION HAS BEEN SCRATCHED - PROSECUTION COUNCIL BRAE: a beast? How terrible. And how it is then, that you managed to be abducted by him and then brought hairless - I mean skinless? - CONTINUE - DEFENDANT COUNCIL ICHIRO: objection. JUDGE SHUGO: grounds? DEFENDANT COUNCIL ICHIRO: he assumed Tatsu-san was abducted. This fact had not been established. JUDGE SHUGO: Sustained. Quentin rephrase. PROSECUTION COUNCIL BRAE: how is it you were assaulted by Daisuke, and scalped by him? WITNESS HIKARI: no, I was not abducted, I was in the cave when I found Yukiko, her leg was damaged and I heard another voice. Thought another person was hurt, so I went to cave and when I stood there - he was in pure beast form. He was silent as death. I jumped back put if shock. He took that moment to pin me down, with his weight. He then placed his maw on my cranium and ripped my scalp, I watched him chew my hairline. - PUBLIC DISTURBANCES OF DAISUKE HAVING HAIR BALL - JUDGE SHUGO: ORDER!!! PROSECUTION COUNCIL BRAE: I see. How unfortunate. Are you shrine maiden? WITNESS HIKARI: I am no maiden, but I had medkit on me, I still carry it. PROSECUTION COUNCIL BRAE: a feminine trait, nonetheless, of course.. now, would you consider yourself a direct victim of this man's beastial inclination? WITNESS HIKARI: rephrase please PROSECUTION COUNCIL BRAE: are you a victim of Daisuke? WITNESS HIKARI: Hai, I would say, but i want it on record I personally don't want him to get any extreme harm, as the state has helped me recovery, no permanent damage. But I have one wish to consider his sentence, if I may speak. PROSECUTION COUNCIL BRAE: I gave ni further questions myself, your shugo-ness. - QUESTION END. NO DEFENSE QUESTIONING OF WITNESS - JUDGE SHUGO: I've heard enough. I will allow crowd to vote, and I will not wait for everyone. I will have one minute between votes, raise your hand if you agree with a verdict. PROSECUTION COUNCIL BRAE: shugo? JUDGE SHUGO: ah? PROSECUTION COUNCIL BRAE: wait. Nevermind. JUDGE SHUGO: all in favor of finding Daisuke, raise your hand. PROSECUTION COUNCIL BRAE: wait. What about CLOSING statements? JUDGE SHUGO: do you need one? Fine. PROSECUTION COUNCIL BRAE: thank you, your holiness.. - CLOSING STATEMENTS BEGIN. - PROSECUTION COUNCIL BRAE: We have been brought the attention of this threat, this unemployed, unhinged, and nigh homeless anthropologist, lingering in our midst, seeking to take our skulls, and Conduct phonological studies upon us! He has no self control.. and is abeit, completely lacking free will and accord, and as established by this court, and by witnesses of this court and crime. Remember what you vote for. This thing attacked shrine maidens and other loyal citizens, knowingly putting himself in precarious situations despite knowing of his cursed affliction to be an anthropologist. PROSECUTION COUNCIL BRAE: Ladies and gentle-oni, I assure you that if you vote guilty, the jusg hand of justice will prevail. And keep further incidents like this from happening. PROSECUTION COUNCIL BRAE: the PROSECUTION rests your honor. DEFENDANT COUNCIL ICHIRO: this is a simple case, Daisuke is property. Property does not have the right to trial. But here we are. The stage has failed both Daisuke. And it's people. Not amply protecting them from one another. That is all. JUDGE SHUGO: I will ask now. As a reminder, I am the law, and I will have last say. I would, however, like to hear what my people think. And so, raise your hand if you find Daisuke is guilty. - VOTING, FOUR VOTES - JUDGE SHUGO: and all who find him innocent? - VOTING, FIVE VOTES - JUDGE SHUGO: this trial has made me reconsider whether the Kami of justice yet lives. Regaurdless, you have had more innocent votes than guilty ones. I will strike the punishment of your hand being cut off. DEFENDANT DAISUKE: my intents were never to hurt either party. But I will see that they are paid back for my transgressions. JUDGE SHUGO: you are found guilty with leniency. I charge you with the pu ishment of mail pattern baldness. Furthermore, you will need a wrangler. JUDGE SHUGO: court adjourned. Trial result, Daisuke is found innocent, however as moral punishment Daisuke received a shaven head and botched haircut by the state so Hikari Tatsu did not suffer alone. Sakuragakure Shidai Monastery RABID ANIMAL INCIDENT Issued from the Monastery in Flower-Capital of Sakura-Gakure Year of the ONI 235 SA “KŌ NO SHAZAI” PREAMBLE The contents of this passage shall serve as the official written testament to the SAKIRAGAKURE SHIDAI MONASTERY, specifically by Acting Mitsue MATSUZAKI SHIBUYA-MANAMI. This is in response to the PUBLIC OUTBURST of RABID ANIMALS kept at the Sakuragakure Shidai Monastery, which had spread their disease to ingestible items before being properly purged and cleansed of their disease. The said incident had led to an ASHIGARU ATTACK. In the IMPERIAL YEAR of 2028, approximately 2 and a half years ago, our beloved fox of Kitte-Iru ASAMI had been infected with the rabid disease of Rabies . . Which had unfortunately spread to a pig also located in the CONATINMENT AREA. Though area was properly marked off, incidents occurred before proper cure could be done. With so much commotion and panic in the room, Mitsue SHIBUYA was unable to properly do purging blessing without interruption .. At such time, Naishoten YANO and Miko NATSUKI had incident where they were bit, and began to spread the disease as well . . Thankfully, within [3] Kami Days everyone infected were purged, cleansed, and healed. However, the Monastery did not take into account that STORAGE, ITEMS, and FURNITURE that were touched by those infected would be infected as well. This, unfortunately, led to another incident taking place. With the Mikos constant touch of the beloved Tea stock, it seems some bottles were… CONTAMINATED!! This led to Mitsue SHIBUYA unintentionally giving long-term Miko NOZOMI a tainted tea, leading to an unintentional and uncontrollable attack onto the ASHIGARU on their way to Numendil Barn. DUE TO SUCH EVENTS, on behalf of the SAKURAGAKURE SHIDAI MONASTERY, as Mitsue - I, MATSUZAKI SHIBUYA-MANAMI, publicly apologize to the ASHIGARU, special shout out to KATO ENA and my beloved miko NOZOMI for the incident! I have taken MAJOR PRECAUTIONS, ensuring Pagoda was deep cleaned TWICE as well as remade all SHRINE GREEN TEA to ensure no more INFECTED items are to be handed out. As well as, we have ensured ALL ANIMALS possibly exposed to such a disease have been blessed to ensure no infections. Apart of this apology, I have also given the main victim KATO ENA a total of THREE yokai-repellent candles as per request, as well as have offered by abilities to cleanse any scars or wounds upon his face that was inflicted during the incidents mentioned prior. In addition to this, we have discovered the tea may have been tainted by an ALCHEMY REACTION due to the rabid disease mixing with specific elements that we are further looking into to study and observe in a safe environment - and will be sharing such discoveries with the Ashigaru to ensure knowledge is thoroughly spread! . . The Barmaid went up on her tippy toes and snuck up behind Johann von Weisenstein in attempt to scare him! - but alas, Annaliese noticed he was reading something. Instead of scaring him, she peered over his shoulder and read the reforms with him .. Furrowing her brows at all the fancy terms and lingo.
