Well the scenario I'm talking about is the Verge/Fringe; It was like a month before the expected release, and 3-4 before the actual release. I made a big thread saying "hey guys, if we don't do somehting exciting this thing is going to be boring & a huge flop". I came up with a few detailed ideas, asked a few Event Team members for their opinions on what could be fun, stuff like that. I detailed it all out in a thread on the development/GM forums. You replied basically said "I don't think we should do any of this and just let the players explore". Killed all drive I had to work on the project and it got put to the wayside till it was finally released months later than it should have. Everytime I see a player say 'ya verge sucks', I'm a bit annoyed because it should have been more. It should have been better. It sucked and it shouldn't have.

hey look it's that thing I've been saying for like a year now! LoTC is at its best when it's treated as a roleplay-server on an MMORPG. People get too caught up in RP or doing stupid stuff like hacking so their side wins in a PVP war instead of chilling out, building a house or city with friends, and grinding up some money or spending a few hours mining with buds. It also doesn't help when the server moves away from the MMORPG aspect but I think we've been headed in the right direction the past 6~ months. But Aislin pretty much hits it on the head. There needs to be more to do than just RP or PVP, because both of those things get stale if that's all you do. I signed up to LoTC for roleplay and stayed for the addicting community and gameplay.

The only issue I saw with the original war rules is that players could simply level cities and towns, effectively destroying roleplay. Changing a bit too much when there was only one problem, IMO.

you know i can't resist a cheap shot at you hue but it wasn't directly at you, I mean in general. for example, that esterlane thread. How many people got that? 5? and the rest of the forum viewed it as nonsense spam hence its removal.

i think the problem is you're not at funny as you think, neither are jokes that only you and your buds will get.

Spreading the community to another website is not good. Reddit is for communities that are not grounded anywhere else. We are grounded on our official forums. I think there's a good middle ground. You should always be open to the chance that you're wrong or made a mistake somewhere because it does happen. But that doesn't mean you let whiners or trolls walk all over you. Outta sight, outta mind. I'd rather it gets posted there where I can only see it when I want to rather than have it clog up roleplay threads and the 'find new content' button.

Players cry out for the staff to crack down on trolling, then get massively upset every time one of their friends get banned ? _ ? no way to win. Arik is pretty much right. A pure spam forum would be nice so players can do their " funny " circlejerk stuff with their friends without clogging up the actual roleplay forums.

now you guys can stop making the same thread that's been posted time and time again for the past 2 years! nice change though. still guys, don't get yourself banned and blame it on being mad or your friends, cus it's still a pretty weak argument.

I think trailers and epic action shots are what you should focus on. We're not big enough to warrant news updates. Anything big gets covered by an Admin or GM announcement and everything else trickles down through the forums/skype. About once a year, yeah. Sometimes we spend a few months on smaller maps, but generally we stick with a map for 10+ months at a time.

This map looks a bit strange because it was designed to be strange. The main maps (the ones that get get released every year or so) make a lot more sense geographically.
