  1. ((I was requested to draft up these rules by one of the Flay leaders so I went ahead and did it. The "Human" part at the top is a simple typo on my part, these rules were not written by Titania and therefore there's no need to have this whole debate. Remember people, no got-dayum real tears.))
  2. I'm liking this! Thanks for your contribution to Shamanism, the work you put into this is quite evident in the writing and I think it's very well constructed. Much love, babycakes. TLDR: i luv u ptahbb thanks good family values +11!!!!1111!
  3. By "unnatural" I am not referring to whether or not the origins of the Void are natural, merely that it was not intended by nature for people to be able to tap into the Void and force it into their desired shape. Therefore, as stated in the original post, those who do tap into the Void and beat it into submission feel the strain of its continued use on their physical form. The Spirits and Ancestors are forces that are natural for one to interact with as they have a direct connection to the world our characters live in. The main point of my above posts being, Spirits and Ancestors are not the same (or even similar) sources of power to Aenguldaemons or the Void.
  4. Druidic magic comes from the Aspects, and from everything I've heard they are simply Aenguldaemons. That makes the source of Druidic magic essentially the same as the Undead or Ascended. No? I left the Druids, Ascended and Undead out of my above post because I'm not entirely sure how their whole thing works.
  5. I believe the lack of corruption from Shamanism is due to the fact that the Ancestral and Spiritual planes are a natural and pure form of power. Unlike the Void, where humanoids were never intended to interact, shamans interact with natural sources of power. A Spirit is a sentient being who holds power over one of the many elements and an Ancestor is simply a soul that has passed on from our world. That makes both of them natural power sources from which a Shaman may request assistance or guidance, rather than an Arcane mage who forces power from the Void or a Cleric/Necromancer who essentially signs away their life to higher forces. Mind you, this isn't official. It's just how I've managed to put it all together in my head.
  6. Is that not properly balanced than? According to the rules, one should only be slightly more powerful than a fully armored opponent by T3 (assuming this is referring to the caster's own species). If that's correct, then it's scaling itself exactly right. Up to T3 a Lutauman would be on equal footing with an orc using his combat skills alone. By T3 the Lutauman would begin to be able to put his power to use with a relatively high rate of success. Assuming we're sticking with a basic blessing of strength, then the Lutauman would have an upper hand in the fight. Around T4 the Lutauman would be able to combine his orcish strength and fighting skills with the blessings of an Ancestor in order to gain a more significant boost in his combat ability. Finally at T5 a Lutauman would be considered a master of the subtype, allowing him/her to summon greater Ancestral spirits with stronger blessings. At this tier the Lutauman is expected to be able to successfully combat 4-5 fully trained and equipped soldiers. It is fairly obvious that even before T3 an orc would typically have the upper hand against a trained soldier of any race other than his own. Whether the Lutauman is slightly weaker than a normal orc (which still doesn't make much sense) or not would make little difference as even a lesser orc is still a seven to nine foot tall, angry, green Scandinavian man who likes to mix steroids with his Muscle Milk. Oh, did I mention that he's also been training since he was about two years old and most likely killed his first opponent before age fifteen? Pit that against a warrior of any one of the other humanoid races and I think it's fairly obvious who I'd be betting on. Spoiler is relevant. It is important to remember that the Lutauman's shamanism alone does not count for an offensive ability itself and he must rely on his own combat prowess to come out on top in most situations. Unlike the Elementalist, who does not need to maintain his martial combat skills due to the direct offensive capabilities that come with the subtype. That is why it is necessary to maintain the Lutauman's strength and combat abilities outside of the points I already laid out in the other post. The Lutauman simply uses his shamanism to enhance those traits which he already has or to grant himself a new "ability" for the duration of the blessing.
  7. I would not necessarily say that the Lutauman is any weaker in the sense of base physical strength, more so that when he/she focuses into their magic they expend their mana and physical energy at a much faster pace. I picture it like a superhero with superspeed is often depicted, while they may be very fast an obvious drawback is that when they push their body to that limit (akin to a Lutauman receiving a blessing) they burn through extreme levels of both energy and mana in a relatively short amount of time. This is why they are often substantially weakened after their blessings fade. If they are not working to be in better condition (physical and mental) and constantly fueling themselves, then a Lutauman will ultimately fail to pass a certain point in their training. I would even go so far to say that in order to keep up with the physical toll of their spells, a Lutauman would probably be constantly working to be among the strongest of orcs. This explanation would make more sense to me as a true orc wouldn't purposefully practice a form of magic that made him weaker. Not to mention it seems more logical in that while a Lutauman may receive a blessing of _____, this blessing does not make their actual frame more durable. If their physical frame is not up to the feats they perform, then they risk facing some very serious damage to their body structure itself after the affects of the blessing wear off. Edit/Clarification: I'm not saying that Lutaumen are both the most physically strong orcs and also very powerful shamans, only that they should strive towards such. The more physical endurance and strength the Lutauman possesses, the better they can handle a more potent blessing. The ideal would be for a T5 Lutauman to be one scary motherfucker without magic, add a powerful Ancestral blessing to him and he should easily reach that 1:5 combat ratio.
  8. The Admins are very vocal in discouraging the playerbase from making the claims that nothing is being done, that the Admins are inactive and care little for the server itself. If the majority of the Admins don't think it is necessary to be in game themselves, then there needs to be a compromise. And this definitely isn't anything new, in order to appease the majority of the playerbase it is almost essential that the Admins have a public face, somebody to interact with the players on a daily basis. The Admins of old didn't need any sort of "Player Liaison" because they all made a point of not only running the server, but also remaining at an acceptable level of activity in game. I personally don't back these claims, mind you.
  9. I love the fact that you're promoting more Admins and I know Rittsy will do a fantastic job, though I can't help but cock an eyebrow when I see things like this... The Admin Team of old was capable of being active both in game and running the server perfectly well. What exactly has changed so much in Admin duties over the past year that it's considered unimportant to be present on the server itself?
  10. Welcome back, man! You should definitely make an orc (because we're the master race) and when you do (because you will) you should make him a member of the Lur Clan.
  11. This is an absolute must, the current raid rules cause far too many issues OOCly and act only as a ridiculous OOC shield for people to hide behind. One of the main reasons the orcs were so feared and respected in Aegis was because of the lack of a limit for raiding parties, nobody knew when the orcs would strike and it was an imminent danger. The possibility of spontaneous raiding parties (not only of orcs) was something people made a point to prepare for, they took steps to minimize the possibility of such attacks rather than hiding behind a rule when they came. While I realize that going back to the old system of raiding is pretty much impossible, I believe the current system should be heavily changed. I think this system could be absolutely perfect with only a couple minor additions. Those being the following... - If the entire raiding party is wiped out by the defenders, then that faction is required to wait one week before attacking that place again. - Modreq access should be allowed in the form of bashing down wooden doors and breaking into chests, the same as it is allowed in day-to-day roleplay. - Though it shouldn't really be a rule, it should be common courtesy to choose to raid during your target's more active hours. Eight players is plenty to be able to hold their own against a basic defensive force, while still easily providing the defenders with the upper hand in the situation. This also largely clears up the OOC barriers that have been put in place with the five man rule, allowing for raids to be a real threat once more.
  12. No, but you're allowed to have two characters at once.
  13. Almost to the first page on Minestatus, guys. Keep up dat voting!

  14. The same way you rationalize a world made entirely of cubes, with mechanics that allow you to move and function as a person made of various blocks loosely held together by joints with little movement, eat more than a viking with the munchies over the course of one day, and place constructs of stone and wood with your bare hands to create massive structures. With your endless imaginification. And if you truly must be so block-headed (har-har! get it?), then there's accepted lore that transmutes diamond into a super-hard metal called Carbarum. Thank Lago for that one. And props to you, Ever! Though I must say I rather wish diamond armor and weaponry could make some form of a return. I know, I know... I should feel bad.

  16. Just gonna drop it here, as you obviously weren't aware from a post on that other topic, the orcs and Kha have been at a steady peace since the early months of this map. I may not have been the most glorious Rex, but one of the better decisions I made was reaching out to Geo and making peace between us. The only hiccup in the last six months was when a semi-whitewash orc tried to shoot Morthawl and got sacrificed.
  17. It's okay guys, I'm just a giant bully.

  18. It is simply not a realistic request to ask the aggressor to wait for a magic system, a system that has been promised for nearly two years now. The high elven mages can easily be represented by Connor's compromise, however the mages should not be able to wear armor after the fair number is slain. That simply makes no sense. Once the four men to one mage is slain, then that mage has (in keeping with rule 15) taken on his maximum number of opponents and reached his limit. Give them a sword, if they're lucky enough to kill another person or two, that's great. If not, oh well. They served their purpose. This same courtesy should be given to the opposing force as well, represented by each enemy mage nulling the other mage's effect on the numbers. I would also point out that only grunts should be removed from the equation, not the more skilled fighters (especially of the orcs) on each side as there are a number warriors that could hold their own against a powerful mage. One more ground rule would be to ensure that only mages with overtly offensive magics are taking a toll. Not illusion, household, warding, etc.
  19. Vladislavistan stands next to his father atop the cathedral, waving a small stick through the air. His face is contorted in a grimace of concentration as he continues to wag the stick about. The small child's face lights up in excitement when a lightning bolt strikes in the distance before he realizes there are storm clouds above that portion of the sky. "Magic missile! Magic missile! Make like wizard-stick and magic missile! Lightning bolt!"
  20. I got curious so I went on the Google trends feature. I searched up Lord of the Craft, it peaked back in September of 2011. I then went and searched not Minecraft, but Minecraft roleplay. Interest in Minecraft Roleplay has simply continued to climb and has still yet to peak. So I suppose we have to ask ourselves, what exactly are we doing wrong?

We do a lot of good, we do a bit of bad. I think a lot of our problems lie in our map design, although our strong intertwining of OOC and RP certainly does not help...

4.0, when it comes will hopefully be designed with the betterment of the server's general RP quality in mind and not just designed by those who wish to rule over something.

We just need to get higher on minestatus.

  21. An orc passes by and pins a note beneath one of the posters, it reads as follows. "I will take all for twenty shiny a piece. -Wulgehn'Lur"
  22. The point of roleplay is to be creative, to use your imagination. If you're playing an animal who is capable of putting up a fight (bear, badger, jaguar, etc.) then you can easily roleplay your armor or weaponry as a thick pelt and claws/teeth. If you're playing an animal that can't fight in the first place, then simply flee.
