AFK for the next two days, working. Please attach all urgent correspondance to the garden gnome out front and he'll see to it's transmission.

Planning your char's future is about as effective as telling the orchards when to produce fruit.

I farm IRL, Meta - you can get a ballpark idea of when the plants produce but you'll never be able to nail down when the goods are ready or how much there'll be. As for RP, I'm referring to people that meticulously plan every aspect of their char's lives and their futures. Make a char, give the char some goals, and accept whatever comes in the process - even if that means dying early.

good man. I plan what I'd /like/ to have happen, but it rarely turns out as planned. My 2nd ever character on LotC lived less than 2 irl hours. I created her to be a mercenary fighter woman, walked down King's Road, got attacked by a group of Orcs, dragged off, klomp'd, and then her head cut off and put on a pike. Shrugged my shoulders and made the next character.

The ballpark method is what I was referring to, many people without even realizing will do what Menarra did; plan out the path but be willing to, take side steps. Meta for example has some set steps in his life, how he reaches them and what will happen is decided by the path he walks. It's just like Death; it is a promised step in all life...Just how you get there is constantly changing.

Screw it, 7 people over the past 24 hours have asked if I do league, so I'll give it a shot. I'm not too late, am I?

People change. Me, I'm a lamp.

thought experiment: remove the Guide rank and all related perks completely and see how many former guides still work without the prestige.

The only thing I can think of that would enhance the guide role would be some sort of system for when players first join - I know guy's who've joined up in the past couple of months and have had as many as 5, FIVE, guides message them at once. If there was a /modreq styled system invisible to regular people that catalogued new players that haven't been assisted somehow, it would make much more sense.

It would be nice. At the moment, all we have is Thu'um making up a list of players that have been accepted during the week. I think we should just get access to all the powers of GMs but have our focus be on new players. No use in making a gimped team whose job is to do what some GMs don't feel like doing/feel like it's below them.

Dearest LotC staff: some of the posts in the "Ideas" forum will become a year old soon. Don'cha think you could go ahead and deny them?

Gonna head off to a play practice, then derp around in student government, then it'll be time to kick some greenskin tail. Yeehaw.

Remember, children: LoTC staff is there to support your RP and help you get better, which is why you should never ever disrespect their ultimate authority. Or they feed you to the rancor.
