  1. Void magic lame, I'm glad y'all suffer all the time. -1
  2. This isn't relevant or equivalent at all; this is to follow up on a redline amendment that was passed but didn't change the body of the ritual text nor add further redlines to bring it in line with the standard for current lore. Clerics and Templars don't get to RP Tahariae or Malchadiel. This allows you to continue the freeform ritual of pacting without the weird caveat of being able to call up an ancient evil for a casual chat with them for the price of some Rakir and your ability to cast naz spells for the day, as the lore currently allows. Beings of immense power should hold immense weight, and the current lore doesn't reflect that well. The ability to present a Striith in any way you want keeps the creativity, but also pushes the idea that the Zar'rokul are powerful entities that should largely be left up to Lore Team Management to depict, and not just anyone with a TA. As it currently sits, you're allowed to use this ritual to self-RP communication with them and have them say whatever you want. Good point on the malices, I'll adjust the amendment to include secondary Malices.
  3. call me the fun police but I'd rather Naz be redlined like necromancers into never feeling love again than deal with romance RPing devil worshippers cutting in the basement and having tiefling babies. There's mechanically nothing wrong with this - but I hate it.
  4. This is an adjustment to the redlines for clearer wording and to disavow the means for players to represent a Zar'rokul/repeat the ritual even if symbolically, because it's contradictory to the main body of lore explanation and should be brought into a state where one cannot 'well actually' the text versus the redlines. + I got rid of NSA spying that leaned toward Seer involvement/went nowhere IRP in exchange for a permanent affliction for performing the ritual. If it's word of mouth it's not in the lore.
  5. Narthruzka OLD: Narthruzka New: changes outlined in BOLD Malices The following redline will be added to Malices: - Malices are permanent and persist even through disconnection from Naztherak. Reasoning: I can see no reason why an intensely powerful archdevil of the hells would deign to divide even a moment of their attention from their schemes, wars, and plans upon plans to pay attention to a mortal speck looking for power. They have far more important matters to attend to and endless numbers of Striith to handle their grunt work. It also doesn't make sense for them to be constantly observing Naztherak, as it treads too much on Seer's toes thematically; instead, it should afflict the mortal practitioner with its malice and change them fundamentally. (edit) The Redlines are also not very clear and run contradictory to the main lore text for the ritual. They should be written to leave no wiggle room for word-of-mouth ruling or misconception to arise, as we try to do with every other magic.
  6. I think this is redundant; there is already Fae Ichor (included in Sylvan Alchemy), which is produced by epiphites and sprites.
  7. "Oh so the other five dwarves we've killed in the shadow hours weren't Galmor, I knew I was right to not pay Taro-san." Admiral Hirano offered to A nearby marine as he reviewed the letter.
  8. Hi I have a klone CA, I've been doin' klones for actual years so I speak with some authority. This is bad. It encourages the avoidance of RP and if you don't want to risk the PK, do not take up the PK CA.
  9. Jiro was silent for much of the day following Hina's farewell. Eventually, he found himself in the middle of a crowded Yorumachi tattoo parlor, a Hirano select hanging off his lip contributing to the smoky atmosphere. The Samurai remained silent even as the artist punched ink into his skin with needles; the stinging pain of it occupied less of his mind than the memories that passed by, sixty years of friendship. The trouble he had finding a spot free against myriad tattoos depicting tigers, lilies in bloom, and the beautiful face of a geisha- amidst these tattoos he'd gotten in his youth for only vanity was added a simple kanji with ten times the meaning of any of them: 七

  12. I'll keep it a buck, I don't approve of cringe gate testing as It's a very unrealistic way of dealing with things - but truth be told, just... Don't go to those places, deprive them of RP. I only salt test people who are caught hanging out with vampires or act hella suspicious because cutting someone and pouring salt into their wound is crazy painful and puts them at risk of infection. But like also, anything is a problem if you keep assuming the absolute worst of your fellow roleplayer which a lot of you seem to be doing. -1 overall, I don't think this is as big a problem as Its made out to be. P.S. If you remove all means of confirming evildoers/ creatures by some manner of testing, then we have to go back to the old days where the town guard gathers around and stomps you to death 12v1 on suspicion instead of confirmation, and it's a hell of a lot harder to prove metagaming when the town guard has to kill you based on vibes.
  13. I know it was a ragebait post - but feat slots are unironically the way.

theres a lot of ways i think we could legitimately pull off giving alchemy a cost to learn, but it would piss off so many people at once lmfao

I'm generally neutral as currently i get to have my character call people slurs based solely on their occupation, which is often respectable otherwise. that balances out alchemy's cultural gutting in my eyes

  14. Crazy take: I agree, we should have feat slots or have alchemy take a magic slot. There's so much to alchemy right now, it's literally crafting spells you can hand out to ANYONE to cast. People will say, 'I've never had to use alchemy.' Well, I use TS every single day - I've built a whole character on just alchemy and further alchemy and if you put even a slight investment in thinking about how you can use alchemy, it's busted and very useful. As a matter of fact, remove magic.

  16. That's just conflict RP - why did you, an important target to another nation at war, go into a nation you were enemies with? Very nonsensical, that's kind of like William Wallace walking into London at the height of his rebellion. I don't necessarily think that's what anyone here is talking about
  17. The notice of dismissal on that Petra thread is so well written, I got secondhand anger from seeing it. Like the ghost of layoffs past

  18. I just think it'd be a lot cooler if you were upfront with the fact that this is to avoid age-PKing your musin as quickly. I'd respect that more
  19. This is kind of a dumb argument for a setting in which the world is a disc made by god's suicide and time is fucky wucky in the first place.
  20. Reading over the settler thread again, just a weird kind of thing to take note of, lair team:

Dwarves aren't KoS in Kurai Kuni and remain such. The dwarves we've killed broke oaths made to samurai who believe that if you fail your duties or dishonor your word, you should kill yourself.

All they had to do was just not lie.

I totally get where you're coming from, Panashea. There's a bit of a precedent, but I think there should at least be some itty-bitty IC consequence. Orcs aren't being slaughtered en masse, and dwarves have done very little IC in the way of negotiation or capitulation. Asking OOC for a place to dock at first wasn't really narratively compelling. When we went so far as to initiate talks IC before the war claim and offer the refugees a deal to get out unscathed and not be roped into a genocide, the guy we met and made the deal with broke his word immediately, and then again when we gave him a much harsher deal IC as a last chance gambit.

I just think that it requires a little bit of IC effort so you can say 'We did literally everything we could and the world considers us as evil as baby-eating vampires because of XYZ' rather than just some OOC screenshots and half-baked IC attempts. There's still a chance for RP to fix this. I personally TRIED to craft a compelling IC circumstance for this to be avoided and it only failed because one guy flubbed the easiest negotiating W ever

I do agree with you however if it was any other race this would make sense. It's just a part of the dwarf rp to be as stubborn as a mule and be extremly prideful (at least for a lot of dwarves) and in order to join wider society my dude Thriku would have to renounce the Grand Kingdom which he will never do so instead I chill in the woods I don't blame narvi and them for picking leaving Urguan oocly I get it. It would just be very usual for my character to do any of that so instead he chooses geocide and that's a case with a lot of dwarves if nothing goes through they are just going to retire their characters and not much I can do about it cause I like I said it would not make sense for their characters to submit

  21. Knowledge demands a hunger deep. The rat and the witch struck a deal, bright red eyes no more theirs to keep. Power traded for the price of a meal. The Daemon's gift for those who weep, it found not sorrow but sadistic zeal For such a beast, no price was too steep; the need to bite and make the world squeal overtook guilt, sense, reason, and leal. Fangs upon the neck, seized so creal blood upon the witch's tongue did seep to bring it to the raven's grace to kneel An eyeless rat, a witch itself, now did leap to grasp so freely for what cowards steal.
