  1. Carver looks down at the note on the ground. Littering. She bends down to pick it up and throw it away. Maybe if she cleaned away enough litter, Zaint Grugolas will- She grunts in surprise as the paper resists, almost falling over. "The f-" She blinks, looking it over. Who the Nether nails messages onto the ground?!
  2. Carver lays on the ground, face down, looking incredibly disheartened. "Fracking frick frack..." she grumbles, not even willing to swear. "...Need... to keep... doing good deeds..." she groans in exasperation, forcing herself to her feet again with the occasional twitch. Who knew that doing good things was so incredibly difficult? How much longer will her torture continue? That's what you get for putting your other half on the naughty list...
  3. Sherria (JunoStriker) ponders over this for some time before scribbling a reply. "I'd like a cookbook, or a book on medicine/healing, please. -Sherria" Carver frowns a little internally. What a waste of a perfectly good wish. Not that she expects this mysterious person to come through, anyway.
  4. Sherria looks around at the growing numbers, instinctively slinking away into a less obvious spot. She's a patient woman. She can wait. She pulls out a knife and a small slab of wood, deciding to pass the time with some carving.
  5. Sherria had been watching for some time. Seems like something fun to do~ Carver, on the other hand, feels as though this is some sort of scam. Eh, no matter, it doesn't cost anything, so what the Nether. She shuffles into the line, patiently waiting for her turn. "....U-um..." she squeaks meekly once she's at the front, bowing her greeting to the woman. "....I-I... W-w-what does... m-my future h-hold for me...?" She shifts her gaze down, going a little red, knowing her question is kinda vague.
  6. Alright. I was actually slightly afraid to post an app, but what the Nether. I'm interested to see how this will play out. Even if the app is accepted, my character may still reject the transformation, depending on how things play out. But enough of that. I have been playing my character, Sherria Carver, since Asulon, and she is my new main. I have no other characters besides her, and I believe I'm fairly active on the server. And now for some backstory! (I would post my VA, which contains most of her info, but it seems to have... gone missing...) Sherria Carver 25(?) years old Human Sherria was born a shy, soft and gentle girl. Problem was, she was born amongst a band of thieves in the Asulon wilds. She wanted to be useful to them, but everything she tried, she failed miserably in. All except knife-play. She was raised as an assassin, forcing her to choose between wanting to be useful to her family, or not hurt anybody. Unable to decide, she created an alter ego, a state of mind: Carver. As Carver, she pushed out all her weak thoughts and did what needed to be done. It gave her some sort of comfort that it isn't technically her who's hurting people. As she grew up, though, Carver started developing into her own personality, though not entirely separate from Sherria. The turning point came, one day, when she saw her entire 'family' backstab each other over a recent heist. Her mother betrayed the whole clan, selling them out to the authorities. Her brother, which she loved dearly, was killed trying to protect her. The one man whom she trusted, her mentor, ratted her out to the authorities. She managed to escape before she was caught, and was forced to live on her own by her own means. It was then that Carver's task shifted. No longer was she just called out to do things that Sherria can't or won't; she became her guardian. She took away Sherria's bad memories in order to preserve her innocence, bearing the burden herself. Sherria remained as her gentle self, while Carver grew bitter and distrusting as time passed. Carver has always been in a perpetual state of despair. Firstly, she takes Sherria's bad memories as her own, feeling what Sherria would feel in that circumstance. If Sherria's pet died, Carver would mourn on her behalf. Carver, in turn, gives Sherria all the happy thoughts, and she's afraid to be happy herself. If she decided to have her own life, she was perfectly capable of erasing Sherria, so she forces herself to be miserable to prevent that. On the other hand, she knows that one day she may just snap and harm Sherria. Sherria has already gone through 3 boyfriends (well, 2 and 1 girlfriend), and Carver has taken the heartbreak for all three. She's also had two previous relationships of her own, both of which never worked out, of course. She knows that Sherria would willingly give her own love life up for the sake of Carver, and Carver doesn't want that at all, so she refrains from any romantic ties. Carver has developed her own needs and wants, much to her dismay. What's worse, they normally clash with what Sherria wants, or directly puts her in danger. She lives a miserable life, where all happiness brings guilt, and rest and relaxation is unheard of. She's forced to be nice to people she dislikes for Sherria's sake, and step into situations where she'd rather not under request from Sherria. She's constantly in conflict with herself. Do what she wants? Or what Sherria wants? Getting marked to be a frost witch would be... interesting. She would try her best to reject such a thing if she learns what being a frost witch entails. Sherria will never be able to live a normal life again, and that is what exactly she's trying to prevent. Then again, the despair may overwhelm her, and she may just give in. I honestly don't know what will happen myself. [Edit: Found my VA again. The links in my signature should take you to it, which has her backstory during the character's conceptualization.]
  7. Why are we all assuming that this will be heavily abused or skewered by the community? Have a little faith in your friends. We're all (well, not all) mature people, and I'm sure that we aren't going to take advantage of this rule change for evil intent. Not all of us are dicks. Very few of us are dicks. So stop pointing at the few dicks and okay I think I lost my point somewhere in the last few sentences.
  8. ...Well. I'm just going to sit down on a nearby fence and watch how this unfolds. Needless to say, this will be interesting both ways~
  9. Is it necessarily a bad thing? Having too much combat RP? I don't see it as a problem, honestly. If not, I should complain about there being too much boring, inane RP, now. "Hurr durr, I'm doing chores in RP, because that's what a good RPer does." (Just an example.) Combat is fun. People come onto a fantasy roleplay server to be who they can't. And being a really cool fighter who brawls day and night is a fantasy come true for some people. Why deny them that right? And are we really pointing fingers at who's making the community worse? 'Cus it sure sounds like it. RP is RP, combat or not. There's no 'better' form of RP, just preference. And right now, you're pushing your preferences against others. Be thankful you have PvP default so you can end miserable RP with others quickly. I honestly like getting attacked and stuff. And I see combat as a PART of RP, not some cutscene that should be skipped. If you really want to make this server better, in my honest opinion, play your part. Provide the best RP you think you can offer, and accept any RP that comes your way, good or not. Let your character grow from hardships. Fight for your character's happiness RPly. Be the bigger man and roll with the punches. It's not going to be easy, but you'll at least make someone's day by offering what he wants instead of focusing on what you want. And who knows. Maybe they'll return the favor or pass it forward. Also, I may be askew on a few of my points, but it's late, and I'm tired. I apologize for any conclusions I jumped to beforehand.
  10. Someone remind me where do I go to report broken warps?

  11. Ooooh, oooh, can we get an AFK status too? That would be useful~
  12. Carver purses her lips as she reads the note. She has always had bad relations with magic, the supernatural and the like. How does one fight against forces beyond their comprehension? Perhaps the talk would shed some light on what magic really is, and more importantly, how to defend against it. She finally nods to herself, noting the time. She will go, if possible, despite her gut telling her that it may end badly. A gathering of mages is something she wouldn't want to sit around in unarmed... She'll just have to be very, very careful.
  13. Hm, alright. I'll live with it for now, I suppose~ Consider this issue resolved, I guess.
  14. Okay, before we begin, no, this isn't about the chunks that aren't loading that everyone seems to be facing. Recently, whenever I logged into the server, the game seems to lag atrociously until all the chunks have been loaded. Well, the ones that CAN be loaded up til the chunk errors. No chat logs show up or show up veeery slowly until after about 3-5 minutes when the chunks are loaded, and everything floods in at the same time. From then on, the lag disappears. My upload speed seems to be unaffected. While in the lag state, I can still talk and walk about, but I won't be able to see the chat-logs until the lag catches up with me. This makes it next to impossible to roleplay, especially when I run into the chunk errors and I'm forced to relog and relive the entire lagfest one more time. This has never happened before, and I'm not afflicted with this on other servers. What do you think is the problem? Is it server side (my suspicion) or client side? Most importantly, is there a way to fix it??? Thanks in advance.
  15. I guess people are still playing the 'orcs and halfings' card because it's the easiest way to point out the flaw in the system: everyone's equal. That... may not exactly be a bad thing, but neither is it good, for sure. A highly trained assassin with a knife is going to lose against a heavily armored peasant with a bad leg. All the variables that are taken into account RPly are thrown out of the window in favour of those with the 'best gear' and 'best OOC fighting skill'. Not many people follow up the details of the fight after it's over, either. In the least, we could let the PvP decide who would come out as the winner, then go ahead with RPing the finer details that would come with it. Personally, I feel that RP fighting is PART of the RP experience. If players cannot learn how to deal with things in a fight, they're going to have trouble dealing with other things like losing a house or a relationship. I support RP default, but I'd like to see where PvP default will get us. Who knows, it might just work out somehow.
  16. Sherria tilts her head at the poster, reading it through slowly. A play... That sounds like fun. Carver might find it incredibly boring, though. After a short, thoughtful pause, she nods slowly, heading off to do some other things. She'll try to attend if nothing comes up. Now, to figure out where Gallmore actually is...
  17. Um, question. Will OOC gear be allowed in PVP fights? Let's say my character only uses a wooden shovel in battle and dislikes armor, but I have a full iron set in my inventory. Am I allowed to break out my 'PVP kit' when it comes down to it? Or must I only use said shovel?
  18. I want someone to start a rickshaw-like service... Driver rides a horse, leashing another horse or horses where the player/s can ride on and be taken to their destination. Gives the player a chance to talk with each other while heading somewhere; something that makes sense to occur, but is difficult with MC mechanics. I mean, I'd pay to have someone do the walking for me~ It's like fast-travelling, only not as fast and with more RP opportunities XD
  19. Oh, we have /people now? I've always just used /t and hit tab to see who's on the server... Aviaries are going to take a lot of getting used to.

  23. Carver walks by a random signboard before pausing and doubling back. She thought she saw a familiar face... Her eyes wander about before finding the notice. She traces her finger over the poster, resting finally on Galmun's picture. A small smirk plays on her lips. So this is the bastard that attacked her... She had a name, now. "Galmun Irontouch... No reward..." She looks over at her bandaged forearms. "...I'll make an exception this time..." Carver leans off the board, turning to leave. Kill him or turn him in? Eh, she'll figure it out when they meet.
  24. From a game designer's perspective, this is brilliant. From an RP perspective, this could potentially increase the quality for RP. Well done~
