People who fit into the societal norm are not edgy, those who do not, are

There are several definitions I could offer. The easiest way is a character that is unrealistically RP'ed or strangely abnormal in their way of acting. For instance a cultist could be considered edgy most of the time because they are usually very dark, poorly RP'ed, and some would argue needlessly murderous. Overall, it's someone who goes above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to being dark, murderous, or odd.

See, the way oblivionsbane defined it there was the way I've always thought of it: just someone trying to hard to seem dark. For the past several months, though, I see people kinda just using the word to refer to anyone they don't like.I'll see someone who's not dark or tough in any way, and people call them edgy. I think now the definition has come to be different for everyone, really. From what I can discern, it's just "Any rp that doesn't fit my own tastes."
