There have actually been efforts to undo the electoral college for the past several years. A number of states have passed laws that will require all electors to cast their votes in favor of the winner of the popular vote once states whose votes counts total 270 have passed the same law. Though it's received some support from republicans in the past like Newt Gingritch (though he's silent now lmao), can you guess which side of the aisle has championed this? ;^)

Trump criticised the system himself beforehands, with little relevance. I hope it'll change though, it's a weird system that encourages the two party system through a double FPP.
