Midland Missive An Enemy of Two Faces In the year 1 of A.R. ✠ BY THIS MISSIVE THE LEAGUE OF VELETZ ASSERTS ITS AUTHORITY OVER THE MIDLAND REALM. THROUGH THE MANDATES OF THE CAPITAN GENERAL, AN AGE OF RECKONING REIGNS OVER THE MIDLANDS. BY THIS DECREE AND ITS BROTHERS, PEACE, PROSPERITY AND PIETY ARE ENFORCED UPON THE MIDLAND REALM BY THE MIGHT OF THE LEGION OF BURGUNDY AND THE WISDOM OF THE CHAMBER OF THE HEIDMAN. With the formation of the League of Veletz and declaration of a Pax Canonis, the midlands begin to prosper. Within the heart of the region, the Duchy of Middelan begins a great construction project to renew its architectural identity. From the camps outside the walls, Midlander surveyors venture across the realm to lead the development of our lands, settling the Marcher Lords of Drusco and Verbant to great military and economic success. The League of Veletz remains devoted towards beginning the Age of Rights with peace and prosperity. Challenging this vision is an assault on the integrity of the midlands which takes two faces; one bearded and one masked. The Bearded The dwarves of Urguan, notably Clan Frostbeard, have unreasonably harassed the lands of Veletz. They have illegally slaughtered our cattle, taken up arms within our mines and even fought a skirmish against a contingent of Burgundy men, which slaughtered them in whole. As the tensions between Urguan and Norland rise, these attacks have persisted and the League of Veletz has been trespassed numerous times. This shall be put sternly to an end. The dwarves of Urguan are hereby banished from the midlands, and especially Clan Frostbeard who has led transgressions on Veletz. Any appeal to this decision may be made at the individual level by writing to the Heidman of the Exterior, his Grace the Duke of Adria. The Grand King is invited to explain the incidents of dwarven aggression if he wishes for the Heidmen Chamber to reconsider this decision for all of Urguan. The Masked The Pax Canonis stands on the principle that the Canonist Princes shall be united in a Holy League whereupon they shall pursue the interests of Canondom as a whole. This vision, and in consequence a vision of a peaceful midland, is under assault. Still, the Kingdom of Numendil has not been inducted into the Holy League, nor have the members of the League met a single time since its acceptance of the League of Veletz- previously the Free Duchy- into its ranks. If the Holy League and its Pax Canonis is to endure, it must become a robust institution that brings Canonist Princes into cooperation and not simply an isolated instance of peace. The League of Veletz is dedicated to this vision. The conflict between Urguan and Norland is backed by prominent Canonist Princes on both sides. If either prince backs an offensive campaign, it will lead to the defensive pacts of other princes forcing them to fight against other Canonists. It cannot be justified to support an aggressive pagan kingdom’s attacks against Canondom, else we let the doom of the Pax Canonis be masked by supposedly virtuous policing of the world’s politics. Final Remarks By the graces of Godanistan, peace has taken root in all of Canondom. It is our obligation and quest to take measures to make it a lasting one. For its central position within the midlands, the League of Veletz accepts the obligation to assure this peace and prosperity across central Aevos. In this regard the League of Veletz confidently reaffirms its oaths of defense and furthermore rebukes the aggression of the Kingdom of Urguan. The dwarven community gets a lot less handed its way, and makes a lot of mileage with what it can find. When I was Grand King and we had a week of very good activity, I think the first thing I said was "don't get arrogant, every week is thrive or die for us" or smtn like that. I think that was a negative mindset, and nowadays I prefer rather than fighting tooth and nail to be bigger than you are it's better to be bigger than you set out to be, lower standards and enjoying them. Although Markus is my first main human persona, I considered my first Goldhand and first major persona to have been moreso a member of Adria within the Empire of Man than he was dwarf nations, because Kaz'Ulrah had fallen p early in that character's run, and OOCly I had been taught to schizo about Agnarum. It wasn't until late 2019 that I joined dwarves properly. Looking at Atlas, I only have nostalgic love for Belvitz and roads around Renatus, not for Agnarum, Holm or what's left of Kal'Tarak.
